GRETA BERLIN (France/USA), Board Secretary Greta Berlin is one of the founders of the Free Gaza Movement. She has been an advocate for justice for the Palestinians since the early 60s. She is the mother of two Palestinian/American children whose father was born and raised in Safad, Palestine and is a 1948 refugee. She has a masters degree in Theatre and journalism and a bachelor’s in English and theatre.

She was on the first voyage in August, 2008 and helped run the next four voyages, all successful in entering Gaza in 2008. She was one of the major spokespersons for Freedom Flotilla I and has continued as the media contact for Free Gaza. She is the co-editor and co-author of the book, Freedom Sailors, the story of the first voyage to Gaza and how we succeeded in spite of ourselves.

FREEDOM SAILORS is a much-needed account of how a small group of ordinary people conceived and executed what seemed like a grandiose and audacious plan to break Israel’s illegal military blockade of the Gaza Strip, a blockade that keeps more than 1.5 million people in an open-air prison. Knowing what we know now – that Israel Defense Forces would later murder nine people, including an unarmed American citizen, Furkan Dogan, executed at point-blank range during a later Freedom Flotilla – our chutzpah is astonishing.

In a little over two years, we raised the money to purchase two dilapidated fishing boats stored in secret ports in Greece, collected 44 passengers, crew and journalists, aged 22 to 81 and chose Cyprus as our embarkation point.

People who weren't there or weren't close to us may not realize just how isolated we were once we finally set sail to Gaza on the late morning of August 22, 2008; over 33 hours on the sea, no internet, and only a couple of satellite phones which were blocked by the Israelis after night set in.

That first voyage in 2008 achieved exactly what we hoped it would. We opened the door just a bit, proving it could be done. None of the later actions, by land or by sea, would have been possible or even attempted if we hadn't climbed into two ramshackle boats with nothing but our determination and our naiveté holding us together.

Our story of how we came together, raised the necessary money, and pulled off the successful voyage, despite the prying eyes of Israel’s intelligence service, the Mossad, is often riveting.

More to the point, it helps us understand the importance of taking a stand when you see an injustice rather than becoming complicit through silence.

During her teen years, Jacqui committed to volunteer work including Riding for the Disabled, Animal Care, Teachers Aide to Special School Students, Neighbourhood Aid, and many other charitable organisations.

CARRIE HART

Carrie Hart was not seeking a spiritual connection when a spiritual entity who called himself Quado began speaking to her.  But the deep wisdom was so apparent and the guidance so much more effective than her busy thinking mind, that she not only started listening, but also began sharing the messages with others.

Carrie was not at all interested in becoming a Pathfinder when a Quado follower asked for a spiritual healing and a shaman named Running Wolf showed up in Carrie’s mind and said:  Yes, we can do that.  And so she did, and a whole world of healing and Power Animals began to open to her.

Carrie had no religious background or interest when Jesus appeared to her during her Usui Reiki Master attunement ceremony in the center of Stonehenge and touched her shoulder, filling her with a pure, intense flood of love unlike any she has experienced before or since.

And after a while, Carrie began to accept that this was how it would be.  As she worked with clients, Spirit would show up and teach her the shaman arts of Power Animal Retrieval and Soul Retrieval, or take her into Past Life Exploration and Energy Healing.  Angels would show up to capture the energy of lightning or to remove the burden of the past and transmute it into light.  Spirit forms from other galaxies would come to teach Prosperity.  And throughout it all, Quado would ensure that everything came from a foundation of love and light, and would offer interpretations where needed.

John Lennon said:  Life is what happens while we’re busy making other plans.  And Carrie’s plans were unfolding nicely, as she continued with her career in IT, advancing from computer programmer to project manager and then to CIO and Vice President of a Fortune 50 company, all while she was also pursuing her love of singing and songwriting.

And then, one day, it was time to leave the corporate world behind.

The way that Carrie’s spirituality developed has given her a special point of view:

• She has developed her own techniques of meditation. In fact, she prefers what she calls an Empowerment, a combination of meditation, visualization and energy work that she does live for i-am-this.com members four times every week.
• She has her own brand of shaman work, which does not imitate an older culture but harkens instead directly to Spirit and which is completely based in love and light.
• She is deeply connected to Spirit and the Oneness, but has no particular concern with what happens after we die, focusing instead on what we can be and do during this brief, precious life of our to create joy and love, fulfillment and meaning.
• She loves to embrace the mystery and does not expect a rational explanation for how things happen. In fact, she believes that the way things truly work is beyond the comprehension of our limited mental powers.
• She believes that ultimately everything is within us and that the most important thing we can do is develop our own deep core of power and radiate our unique energy, even as we also know ourselves as one and inseparable with all that is.
• As she says, our purpose lies in our uniqueness, but our power lies in our deep connection to the Oneness.

Carrie continues to accept the gifts of Spirit as they come, when they come and however they come.  Her latest adventure is to speak and sing in an unidentified language that has come from Spirit to her, something she suspects is from an indigenous culture of the Americas that is no longer existent.

She has also recently published her latest book, Earth Survival Guide, Why You are Probably From Another Planet and How to Survive This One.  The first 50 pages are a humorous look at the crazy society that is Earth, from the point of view of someone who can’t possibly be from around here, since it clearly makes no sense whatsoever.  The next 100 pages propose what we might do to save the Earth and ourselves, featuring the help of the Power Animals and including a story of their origins.

Composer/arranger/pianist BEVAN MANSON often combines classical elements with jazz forms. He has arranged music for various jazz artists including Manhattan Transfer vocalist Cheryl Bentyne, and Village Vanguard Orchestra saxophonist Gary Smulyan.

Bevan’s interest in jazz originally began quite early, listening to his dad’s jazz records of Miles Davis, Gil Evans, Jimmy Cleveland, and Bill Evans. At the Eastman School of Music he studied with noted arranger-composers Ray Wright and Manny Albam, and famed jazz pianist Bill Dobbins, as well as working in classical composition and theory.

Over the years he has performed with musicians such as: George Garzone, Ira Sullivan, Ron Jones L.A. Big Band, Cecil McBee, Tierney Sutton, Jimmy Guiffre, Marina ‘Frenchie’ Pacowski, and Gunther Schuller.

Bevan’s own piano trios have included Matt Wilson, Steve Hass, Bernie Dresel, Edwin Livingston, Bob Nieske, Jeff D’Angelo, Brad Dutz, Tom Rizzo, and Luca Alemanno.

His unique piano style has been called ‘wholly original yet accessible’ by the Boston Globe. The San Jose Mercury-News said ‘Bevan spreads a Bach-like web of composition in his improvising, telling a compelling story.’

He has worked in film and TV in the LA. studios, with music of his appearing on ‘Breaking Bad’, and his keyboard work sounding in ‘JAG’, ‘My Boys’, ‘Parks and Recreation’ and ‘House’, among others.

Bevan has also received commissions from Sierra Chamber Music, the Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra, the Pacific Philharmonic Foundation, the San Francisco Symphony, First Night Boston, clarinetist Gary Gray, and L.A. Chamber Orchestra violist Victoria Miskolczy,and jazz vocalist Cathy Segal, among others.

The Washington Post called his Piano Quartet “powerfully polyrhythmic…also with sweet lyricism” The piece received an American Music Center (now New Music USA) grant.

His four-movement ‘Santa Monica Mountains’ (Concerto For Guitar And Orchestra) was recently recorded at Fox by Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra, with soloist Evan Taucher, KuanFen Liu conducting.

His ‘California Concertino’ for Flute and Chamber Orchestra was premiered by Katherine Fink of the Brooklyn Philharmonic with Paul Dunkel conducting, and also performed by L.A. Chamber Orchestra flutist David Shostac with the Brentwood-Westwood Symphony. It appears on Parma/Albany Records (Troy 1476).

Several studio orchestra/jazz recordings have been for released recently: ‘Talking To Trees’ features vocalist Tierney Sutton and vibraphonist Joe Locke among others in combination with jazz groups augmented by woodwinds, strings, and percussion. ‘When The Cup Is Lifted’ features Bevan on piano, Luca Alemanno on bass, Bob Sheppard on saxophone, and Gordon Au on trumpet, with woodwind and string orchestrations.

He formally taught at New England Conservatory, UC Berkeley, and Ventura College. Bevan now resides half the year in Albuquerque, and half in Los Angeles, plugging away in the circus of the music business.

Kathleen Gomez began her political career working for President Jimmy Carter's re-election campaign. She went on to work at the Democratic National Headquarters in Washington and was the Administrator for the Democratic National Convention which first nominated Bill Clinton for President. She has worked for several members of Congress including Jim Mattox of Texas and Congresswomen Pat Schroeder of Colorado. She has also worked for a national trade association and was a community activist and organizer for issues involving the New York City public school system. Kathleen moved from Manhattan back to her home town in Arizona, where she helped her father get elected Mayor. She holds a degree in International Service from American University in Washington, DC.

Kathleen also was the co-host on SHADOW POLITICS (on the BBS Radio Network every Sunday at 4:00pm PST / 7:00pm Eastern on Station 1) along side Democratic Senator Michael D. Steve Bhaerman is an internationally known author, humorist, and workshop leader. For the past 23 years, he has written and performed as Swami Beyondananda, the "Cosmic Comic." Swami's comedy has been called "irreverently uplifting" and has been described both as "comedy disguised as wisdom" and "wisdom disguised as comedy."

As the Swami, Steve is the author of Driving Your Own Karma (1989), When You See a Sacred Cow, Milk It For All It's Worth (1993), Duck Soup for the Soul (1999) and Swami for Precedent: A 7-Step Plan to Heal the Body Politic and Cure Electile Dysfunction (2004).

In his "past life" (before Swami), Steve started an alternative high school in Washington, D.C. and co-authored a book about his experiences, No Particular Place to Go: Making of a Free High School. A political science major, he later taught history to autoworkers at Wayne State University in Detroit as part of the Weekend College.
