Michael Boyle is one of the worlds’ foremost educators in the areas of performance training, personal training and athletic rehabilitation. His company Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning, founded in 1997, was one of the first for-profit strength and conditioning facilities in the world. In 2009 and 2010 Men’s Health named Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning one of the top ten workout facilities in the United States.

During his career Boyle has been involved in training and rehabilitation with a wide range of athletes, including stars in every major professional sport. In addition, Mike has served as a consultant to some of the top teams in the NFL, NHL, as well as numerous division one athletic programs. Boyle has been involved in Olympic Gold Medal efforts in women’s soccer, women’s ice hockey, gymnastics and judo.

In 2012 and 2013 Boyle served as a strength and conditioning coach for the Boston Red Sox, winners of the World Series in 2013.

Dennis Coffey is an American original. Only in America (and specifically, only in Detroit) could one man play guitar with a group of legends as diverse as Del Shannon, The Temptations, and George Clinton and Funkadelic. However, the list of iconic artists, producers and writers Dennis has worked with the world over only scratches the surface of what the man has done and the contributions he’s made to the canon of popular music.

Dennis Coffey first began to make his mark as a member of The Royaltones, a group which had hits in the late 50’s and early 60’s and who performed sessions with other artists, including Del Shannon. From there, Dennis moved on to a distinguished run as a session guitarist for various labels operating at the peak of Detroit’s influence as a hub of musical innovation and commercial success. He’s perhaps best known for his work as a member of the legendary Funk Brothers, backing a veritable trunk load of hits for Motown, specifically The Temptations’ classics “Cloud Nine,” “Ball Of Confusion,” and “Just My Imagination.” It is in those works that his introduction of the wah-wah guitar sound to Motown (and soul / R&B in general) first reared its head, and the resulting influence on all kinds of popular music continues to reverberate to this day. His work with The Temptations is just the tip of the iceberg, though… he’s on stuff like “War” by Edwin Starr… “Band Of Gold” by Freda Payne…on and on the list goes.

In the early 70’s, Dennis struck out on his own as an artist, film scorer and producer. He scored the cult classic film Black Belt Jones. He recorded “Scorpio” in 1971 as part of his second solo record and first for Sussex (“Evolution”). “Scorpio” was a million selling single and was a key foundational track in the history and development of hip-hop, totally apart from its status as a funk classic. Dennis has recorded several other solo records, and he has co-produced a million seller in Gallery’s Nice To Be With You as well as cult record Cold Fact by Rodriguez, a release that has gained increasing notoriety over the decades since it initially appeared, and which is now regarded as a rediscovered gem. He also continued session guitar work through the 1970’s, appearing on such disco classics as “Boogie Fever” by the Sylvers.

Dennis is also featured in the 2002 film Standing In The Shadows Of Motown, further cementing his legacy as a key contributor to the development of some of the most cherished and important popular music of the 20th Century.

So, yeah… the man’s important. This isn’t just a history lesson, though. Dennis has continued to write and perform music. He’s a lifer. Now, it’s time for a new chapter. An opportunity to both remind music fans of what he’s done and show them what’s to come.

Dennis is a cast member in the Sony film Searching for Sugarman. He is also co-producer and co-arranger along with Mike Theodore for some of the songs on the soundtrack. He also plays guitar and bass in some of those songs.

GLENN CLARKE (aka CLARKE, GLENN)

I was Born in Queens, New York to a heritage that is rich in culture. I am obviously African-American; however, I am also part Jamaican, part Panamanian, part Cherokee Indian… and there’s more.   I have lived in three of the five New York Burroughs.  I have been bi-coastal, meaning that from early childhood to my late 30’s I commuted from one coast to the other, either due to my parents needs, or as an adult for my own work needs.  

I studied Laser Optics, Physics, Mathematics, Languages, and History & Economics; however, my gregarious nature drove me to more social endeavors. I worked for a major airline in reservations, public relations, and cargo shipments, culminating my career in management with the same company.

Next, I decided to put my education to use working for the U.S. Department of Defense on 21st century projects.  I would tell you more about this; however, I am bound by the government not to go into detail. A new career path became necessary because of contractions in both governmental and private sectors after the first Gulf War.

The path that ensued was a career in the automotive industry for three major car companies; first Honda/Acura, then Nissan/Infiniti, and finally Mercedes Benz. I was in sales, trained staff in product and customer service, and also managed an Infiniti dealership where I improved customer service, thereby improving sales.

One of my dreams was to become an actor.  So around 2002  I took a several acting classes and launched my professional acting career. My first acting gig was as a doctor on Star Trek, Enterprise (The TV series). I have done a number of local and regional commercial works and have had a role on Criminal Minds as a good guy — but I really wanted to play asociopath.  My most rewarding and longest acting gig for seven seasons was as an anesthesiologist (background) on the TV serious HOUSE M.D.

Singing has now become my latest passion.  It has gone from the shower, to karaoke, to having the honor of being asked to sing at the HOUSE M.D. Red Carpet Final Wrap Party by the star of our show, Hugh Laurie.  I accepted and was applauded exuberantly by the audience.  It was a fitting way for me to end my seven of the eight illustrious seasons on that show.

I love traveling and meeting new people. I have visited England, France, Austria, Germany, Brazil, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Jamaica.  I expect to do much more traveling in the near future. One can have more than one passion in life; acting, singing, and traveling are three of mine.

Around the turn-of-the-century I went through a divorce. That divorce left me pretty much penniless and with a lot of self-doubt.  And though I was in the acting profession, I wasn’t making the kind of money that was able to sustain me, or pay for children’s needs.  My story was sort of like a country song record.  I lost everything….my relationship with my kids, my wife, my home,  my income, as well as my self esteem/confidence.   It took me almost ten years to recover.

During that time I had to take mass transit all over Los Angeles, Orange counties, because along with everything else that I had lost, I lost my driver’s license and passport as well.  I so disliked taking the bus, that I began writing down stories of the experiences I had encountered and the people whom I met as a way to cultivate a better attitude.  At that time I had no idea that those anecdotal writings were going to lead to a book called, “Daddy’s Limo.”

In 2013 I interviewed for a job that would turn my life around. I met a young man who was an MIT graduate, who also was starting  at the ground level working.  He would become my friend, mentor, and boss.  My position was as an appointment setter in the solar industry.  That position led me to become one of the top retail managers for the company and now I am a trainer for that same company.

BRITT KUSSEROW

Britt Kusserow is a dynamic singer-songwriter originally from Indiana who has lived and performed in New Zealand, Vermont, and now calls Los Angeles home.  Writing style focuses on lyrics and storytelling, because what is life if not one big, messy story? 

When not on stage Britt is studying to become a therapist, hiking, camping, watching Adventure Time, or eating Sri Lankan food with her girlfriend.

Sharón graduated from the University of Redlands with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics at the age of twenty. She began teaching that same year in a public Junior High School in California. During her three years there, she obtained her Master of Arts degree from Azusa-Pacific University in education administration with an emphasis in math.

Sharón initially taught in California before moving to Germany where she taught for the Department of Defense Schools. She continued to move around as she married an Air Force soldier. She was fortunate to always find a teaching job in each location. After Germany came Texas, and then Japan. Eventually she would also teach in New Mexico, Nebraska, Washington state and China, besides being a high school administrator in both Texas and Oregon. She retired as a high school principal in 2002, only to come out of retirement in January 2008 to become involved in schools for an additional two and a half years.

It was during her time in the schools that she linked the patterns in names to a person’s mindset or personality. She worked on figuring out the patterns of the different letters for fifteen years before she fully comprehended all of the nuances. Sharón took the opportunity to travel a large part of the world testing her theories for the first three years after leaving the education field. Many people requested that she write a book so that they could learn what she had realized about names.

It was during this time that she wrote "Know the Name; Know the Person", with the first edition being published in December 2006. The second edition, published in May 2010, added chapters on mnemonic devices to help people remember the patterns explained in the book and also how to compare two names. She is currently working on the third edition. She is also is working on her second book which combines story telling with logic to challenge people to think again about some commonly accepted beliefs that may no longer be serving us. Since the publication of her book, she focuses her time writing, traveling and sharing Neimology with others, and researching her theories.

BOOK REVIEW:

Profoundly valuable and highly recommended.

This book posits the science of "Neimology, the study of names" and is ground-breaking, of potentially historic importance, and it affords broad-spectrum practical application. The empirical research and experience behind it has substantial credibility.

The notion behind the research and this book is that a person's oft-repeated name is initially inspired, releasing a resonance and predictable potential within the person's life expression. The author systematizes how people with names bearing the same initial vowel, initial letter, last letter and middle letters show consistent tendencies. Hence, the resonance of the name demonstrates correlated patterns of conduct due to the structure of the name. This observation is consistent with the ancient knowledge of most cultures' approach to naming children, where the given name "says it all." Offering this as a framework for decoding, she does not, for example, clam that every "John" will be the same, but that every "John" will share certain traits. Her system explains how and why these traits will be distinct from those shared by persons named Jemal, or James, or Jim. The resulting correlations are nuanced and valuable. Socially, this book can help make interaction with friends and strangers alike far more effortless and productive.

Unlike common "cookbook" approaches that merely share the meanings of names, the Wyeth system explores the personality traits associated to vowels and consonants, with interpretive weight given to their placement in the name. She enriches the reader with a systematic exploration and many illustrations. The reader is thus equipped with an interpretive framework applicable to any name. She tested the work in many countries who use the English Alphabet and found consistent results with only minor adaptations. This is significant. In addition she addresses nicknames, changed names, and other permutations involved in naming. In sum, rather than providing a fish to the hungry, she has provided a hook and bait so the hungry can catch fish and eat for a lifetime.

Cymatics, the study of the physical impacts of sound, demonstrates that sounds create visible geometries. Medical research has proven that cell structures, neurological systems, and the body generally does respond directly to sound. It shows that repetition of sounds can create or ameliorate disease. Making a connection between behavior associated to the oft-heard name and cellular responses proven in hard science is not an untenable leap.

Neimology offers a wealth of very useful applications for anyone who seeks to gain a sense of what lies beneath the surface in other people. The range of applications is broad-spectrum.
