Sugary, sharp and delightfully self-aware, Meanjin/Brisbane artist TIAHN captures the beautiful chaos of surviving and figuring out your twenties on her debut EP, 'LiFe iS wEiRd', out Friday, May 29. A pastel-soaked blend of indie-pop, R&B and cheeky lyricism, the project tumbles through heartbreak, rage, love and self-discovery, all delivered with sass and unapologetic confidence.
Known for her wit and undeniable charm, TIAHN brings together humour, honesty and powerhouse vocals, underpinned by her training in Popular Music at the Queensland Conservatorium. Building momentum through a string of singles leading into 'LiFe iS wEiRd', she was named a semi-finalist in the 2025 International Unsigned Only Music Awards and shared stages with artists including The Tullamarines and Lou’Ana.
Like a diary scribbled in glitter pen, 'LiFe iS wEiRd' is playful, heartfelt and a little unpredictable, embracing the reality that life is rarely ever just one thing at once. Blending synth-soaked pop, fuzzy indie textures, sweeping horns, flourishes of jazz and some stripped-back tenderness, 'LiFe iS wEiRd' zigs and zags between fierce confidence, romantic softness and delightfully oversized drama. As shared by TIAHN,
“For my debut EP I wanted the songs to reflect the journey of how I have become the person I am. As I’m sure most can relate, my 20’s have been a wild ride and have taught me the world isn’t always fair and people aren't always who they say they are. I found a lot of joy writing in my rage and turning into sass.”
Opening with the fierce and feisty 'Woman (On My Own Terms)', TIAHN wastes no time making her voice known, turning frustration into a glittering, synth-soaked feminist anthem with just enough rock grit to bite back. From there, 'Dodgeball' softens the edges, spinning life’s curveballs into a buoyant swirl of catchy rhythms, playful charm and road-trip-ready optimism.
'This Is Love' captures the dizzying calm of finally finding a love that feels certain. Stripped-back and airy, the track leans into understated production and soft textures, made even more intimate by the inclusion of her partner’s backing vocals.
In contrast, 'More' and 'Liar' lean into the EP’s most delightfully oversized moments, swelling with huge horn lines, jazzy flourishes, sweeping arrangements and bold theatrical flair. On 'More', TIAHN unpacks ambition, jealousy and the pressure of always wanting more in what she dubs the EP’s “anti-villain anthem”, while 'Liar' transforms the sting of friendship betrayal into a cathartic, pop-rock-fuelled release.
Closing things out, 'Bitch Face' returns to TIAHN’s unmistakable blend of relatability and cheeky self-awareness, ending the EP in glitter-dusted confidence.
A technicoloured burst of indie-pop charm, 'LiFe iS wEiRd' finds TIAHN exploring the strange, messy and beautiful eccentricities of life through a vibrant, pastel-pop lens. The debut EP arrives Friday, May 29, before TIAHN takes to Brisbane’s Black Bear Lodge on Thursday, June 4.
