Embracing the emotional transience of love and loss, Sunshine Coast-based singer-songwriter Louella delicately ruminates on a relationship left behind with her debut pop single and accompanying music video, 'Before I Go', out Friday, July 10.

The Australian singer-songwriter, who draws from folk, soul and R&B, is inspired to turn her personal journeys into vivid, honest, and emotionally driven musical experiences. Louella's signature layered harmonies and vulnerable lyricism establish her as a compelling storyteller, while collaborations with acclaimed producers shape a sound that is both timeless and contemporary.

A regular live performer who has opened for Ella Hartwig and Table Manners, Louella has received The Women's College Half Blue Award for Music, collaborated with producers Blake Malone (Amy Shark) and Paul Bromley (Ziggy Alberts), and earned a nomination for the Listen Up Music Songwriting Prize for 'Before I Go'. She will perform the single at the prize's Sydney showcase this September.

Set in a foreign land, the cinematic folk-pop ballad tackles the difficulties of letting go of a relationship and the future once imagined. Embodied by rich tones and bittersweet layered harmonies, portions of 'Before I Go' were recorded in vast, open halls, giving the track its warm and inviting character.

The song, layered with graceful harmonies and stirring instrumentation, features acclaimed Australian composers and musicians Graham Ritchie (Thelma Plum, Holy Holy) and Louise and Sarah King (Katie Noonan), whose contributions add further depth to the delicate feel and warmth.

These themes of heartbreak and emotional uncertainty are brought to life through the accompanying music video, filmed and directed by Victor Ivanov. Shot throughout Tokyo, the video moves between bustling city streets, the serenity of cherry blossom parks, and the restless motion of the Tokyo Metro.

As Louella manoeuvres through the city with elegant composure and stillness, the video conveys contemplation and loss. The contrast between the stillness of Tokyo's cherry blossom parks and the city's bustling streets further reflects the song's themes of emotional displacement and heartbreak, with Louella stating:

“The contrasting locations reflect the experience of navigating an unfamiliar culture and finding your place away from home.”

Brought to life through heartfelt songwriting, graceful musicianship and the contributions of an accomplished creative team, 'Before I Go' marks a poignant debut from Louella. The single and its accompanying music video arrive Friday, July 10.
