There's more than one way to strike gold. On his magnetic single and accompanying music video ‘Gold’ (out Friday, August 14), Meanjin/Brisbane artist Harley discovers that vulnerability, self-belief and emotional honesty are worth their weight in gold.

Serving as the third and final single from his forthcoming debut EP, due Friday, September 18, ‘Gold’ explores the feeling of finding independence and accepting the changes to come through quintessential indie-pop/rock sensibilities.

Following the release of ‘Give Me Something’ in 2024 and his most recent track ‘Tell Me You Love Me’, Brisbane indie-pop/rock artist Harley has continued to build momentum. His music has earned support from The AU Review, AAA Backstage, Aus Music Scene, The Underground Sound and more, while also reaching #10 on the AMRAP Indie/Alt Chart and #4 on the AMRAP Pop Chart.

Now, with his latest track ‘Gold’, Harley embraces letting go of repressive machismo and allowing vulnerability to settle in through a catchy, rhythmically driven indie-pop/rock sound. It's palpable, moreish guitar tones, accompanied by a bashful drum rhythm and lush synth moments, paint a vibrant picture of action, change and empowerment, with Harley speaking on the track's meaning:

"At its core, it's about love, loss and trust, but ultimately it's about independence, believing in who you are, what you create, and trusting your own instincts. No one else can tell your story."

More broadly, ‘Gold’ serves as the final piece leading into Harley's debut EP, a six-track collection documenting his artistic growth and willingness to embrace vulnerability. Featuring seamless transitions between songs and drawing together material written across the early stages of the project, the EP captures the confidence Harley has found in trusting his own voice. Harley says:

"This collection of music has been an absolute rush and a rollercoaster of emotions to make. It's my debut EP, my first large body of work and I wanted it to feel special. These six tracks felt necessary to have together. They're all quite different but also feel very connected. I wanted this EP to best convey my growth and experience as a young artist."

An endlessly feel-good single, Harley digs deep and finds gold through his infectious indie-pop/rock. Out Friday, August 14, ‘Gold’ serves as the final preview of Harley's debut EP, arriving Friday, September 18.
