JAY LEVIN

Jay Levin is founder and president of a nonprofit advocacy campaign, EQuip Our Kids! (equipourkids.org), whose focus is raising the emotional intelligence of humanity, starting with children and youth. EQuip promotes getting Social-Emotional Learning curriculum and its related life skills training into every Pre-K to 12 school as a proven success game-changer for students in school and in their lives, with profound positive effects on families, workplaces and communities – and on the larger world itself. Jay also founded the California Social-Emotional Learning Alliance now with 4,000 educator members helping advance SEL into state schools.

Jay has led six media companies and launched six nonprofits focused on community needs. He is best known as the founder and former editor-in-chief and CEO of the multiple-award winning Los Angeles Weekly, which under his editorial and business leadership became the largest circulation and most advertising-rich weekly newspaper in the country.
