My new book, Your Holistically Hot Transformation: Embrace a Healthier Lifestyle Free of Dieting, Confusion and Self-Judgment, focuses on small, simple changes women can make that build on each other to create big results such as weight loss, increased energy, more confidence and glowing skin.

·      How to upgrade your favorite takeout meals with better-for-you ingredients without sacrificing flavor. For example, my Healthy Pad Thai recipe is veggie-heavy, substitutes fiber-rich spaghetti squash in place of noodles and skips the sugar-laden sauce most restaurants use.

  • Forget willpower, give your plate a makeover instead. Piling your plate with more vegetables , especially leafy greens, the #1 food missing in most American diets, will boost energy, "crowd out" the less nutritious foods and help manage cravings. 
  • Experiment gently with everyday superfoods If plant foods are the cake — the staples around which you build your meals — superfoods are the icing. Spread and sprinkle them around to enhance your food. Acai offers healthy fats, Goji berries fight colds and Spirulina, a blue-green algae, us a powerful energy booster.
  • Focus on "carbs that count" Fixating on a low-carb diet will leave you zapped of energy. Get the benefit of sustained energy and filling fiber with low-glycemic carbohydrates like quinoa, sweet potatoes and squash.
