Okay, let me introduce our guest. Our guest tonight is Nancy Marlowe. Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: Nancy, we have some time to chat, and you have so many interesting things because I was stalking you on your website earlier today.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Good. Thank you.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: To see what we could talk about. There's a bunch of things, but I wanted to ask you about your book because a lot of people are always looking for a grief resource, and a lot of times that'll be a book written by a medium. Tell us a little bit about it.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Well, I wrote that book because I have done a lot of readings for people who don't know how powerful they are. They don't know that they have the resources within themselves to tune in. They don't know how wonderful they are.
I get a lot of people who call me who are not only grieving. It could be the loss of a loved one through death or the loss of a loved one through a broken relationship. But I get a lot of people who just don't seem to feel like they're worthy, like they're important, like they count in this world.
I have a lot of people who are in psychology - psychologists or psychiatrists - and, like us, they hear a lot of sad stories and grief, but they don't realize how powerful they themselves are. I get a lot of people whose relationships, through some means, are gone, and they feel alone and helpless.
So this is a little, small book. It's got some stories about my own personal life, going through a divorce and how lost I was. It's got stories and readings that I've done. It's to uplift people and let them know that there's nobody else like them in the universe - not just this planet, but all the planets and all the stars and everything that's been created. There's nothing else like each individual person. They're powerful, and they don't realize that.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: I love that. I think we need more of that in this world, right?
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Yeah. And it's a book about love. God is love, and I believe there is an energy in this world that loves us, something bigger, and it's God. I mean, I call it God. You call it whatever you want to, but for me it's God.
You connect with that God source and that love, and feel it and see it in other people. You can make a difference in the world by being kind. Just being kind to someone, smiling at your neighbor, sends a ripple. That makes them feel good, and they go out and smile at somebody else. It's contagious. It doesn't cost anything. It doesn't cost anything to be kind.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: That's a good reminder for me as a lifelong New Yorker who lives in Midtown Manhattan - to smile at people.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Yeah.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: It's so funny. I was teaching out in California a couple of weeks ago at the Esalen Institute. I don't know if you've ever heard of it, but it's been there forever. You see the same people every day, and you kind of smile when you walk past them.
I found myself doing it when I got home, and a few people on the street were like, "What the hell does that guy want?" Then I realized, "Oh my God, I'm still smiling. They must think I'm crazy." I kind of let it go, but now that we're having this conversation, I'm like, "Is it so terrible to smile at someone?" No, it's not.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: And I bet they remember your smile.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: I bet they did. I hope they smiled at somebody on the subway or something.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: "Good morning. How are you? How are you today?"
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: Don't get too friendly with it. You can't get too friendly. "Good morning" - you've got to watch who you say good morning to. That's definitely survival in New York, that's for sure.
But I love that you said it's a small book, because I love a short book with a big message. I like a nice dense book, and you can kind of sink your teeth into it, but it's nice when you have something that's small and leaves a big impact because it gets to the point, right?
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Yeah. It's a reminder of how important it is to be kind, to remember that you're powerful, to remember that you're loved, to remember there's nobody else like you, and that you can make a difference.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: I love that. You're like the medium Dolly Parton.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: I guess so, with my accent. When I read for somebody that's never talked to me, they go, "Oh!" And I say, "Yeah, I have an accent. I'm Southern."
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: I love it very much. So, Nancy, I have a selfish question to ask you now. I'm on a paranormal show that's a fusion of true crime and paranormal, and I think I saw something online that said you worked with detectives or investigators. Is that true?
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Yes, I have. I've done a lot of cold cases. I found the BTK murderer before anybody did. It was reported to the police, but they didn't want to hear about psychics. When they finally arrested him, not everything I said was right - because I'm not 100 percent accurate; nobody is - but he matched the description I had given.
I worked on Natalee Holloway. I've worked on a lot of cases. I worked on one medical case where it was such a strange coincidence, and it was the universe working. I sat down beside a woman to eat a hamburger, and I said, "What are you doing in La Jolla, California?"
She said, "I've been out to the cliffs, and I just threw my daughter's ashes into the ocean." I started picking up on the daughter. Her daughter had gone onto the operating table. She was 34 years old, it was supposed to be a routine operation, and they didn't know why she died.
I said that she died on the operating table because there was a machine in there that wasn't working properly, or wasn't being used properly. It was a new machine, and there were issues involving how it had been tested or how people had been trained to use it. It turned into a lawsuit, and the machine manufacturer was sued in other states as well. There were issues about proper regulation and training, and the machine was ultimately shut down.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: Wow. You saved a lot of lives that day with that.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Yeah. And that happened just by sitting down by a woman in a restaurant and being told that. Her daughter came in, and her daughter was so mad because she had gone in there for what was supposed to be some kind of routine thing.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: Wow. I always love when things like that happen. I know it's a serious thing, but I'm sure you find this too: people find it interesting that, out of a thousand people, we'll sit next to one person, and it'll always be the person whose husband just passed away a week ago. I'm like, "How does this keep happening? Why can't I have a normal conversation?" I say good morning to anybody and it turns into a reading or something.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Yeah. Just smile.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: Just a friendly smile. Not too friendly.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: A safe smile.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: Yes. Well, that's incredible. I'm always interested because I love a good mystery, and I'm nosy, so I like to get to the bottom of things.
I love the show that I work on because they are cold cases from many, many years ago. The one that we're investigating all through season one was the Black Dahlia murder, and then the guy who did it, and there's this whole web. I'm not going to get into all of it now, but I'm always fascinated when other mediums work with detectives and they solve cases.
A lot of the people that we're talking about now have been gone for a long time, and all the witnesses are gone, so we may never actually get the proof-proof. But I always love to hear when people help solve cases, like you did with BTK. I think it's so helpful and so fascinating.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: It's like a puzzle to me. It's solving the puzzle. It's like playing a chess game. When I start doing it, the dead come in my sleep and tell me, "This is what happened to me," or, "Go here. Go there." I've had a lot of that.

Debbie, you can tell me if I'm on the right path or not. You seem to me like you're anxious and you're tired. It seems like this was a profound loss for you, that it's been hard for you to get over, or you've never really gotten over it.
I think you talked to this person, or they talked to you, and I think you've seen some signs of the person. I hear that you're desperately seeking some kind of closure, some kind of knowingness.
I also - I don't know if it's this same particular person or somebody else - but it feels like they haven't been gone long, or maybe to you they haven't been gone long. Maybe it's been 10 years, but there's something about the grief still being there. It's a profound loss for you.
I heard "suffered greatly," and I'm also hearing, "Still here with you now." I think you sense this person that you want to know about. I think you were sensing them. Is that right?
Speaker 4 - Debbie, Caller from New York: I don't know if I sense them that much.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Have you sensed them at all?
Speaker 4 - Debbie, Caller from New York: Not too much. I may speak to the person sometimes, but I'm not feeling connected.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: They are around you, and I can see them trying to touch you and tap on you to get your attention. You feel absorbed in not being able to hear them or feel them, but I think you're getting a lot of visitations from them.
Do you live in a place with a backyard or garden? Do you go out in your garden? Do you have a backyard? You enjoy your backyard, and I feel like they go into the backyard with you and try to get your attention there.
There are a lot of ways. [Unclear reference to a person and a book about signs or visitations through animals and other phenomena.]
They're whispering. I am seeing and sensing this person whispering to you, and they're saying, "I'm not gone. I'm not gone. You still have me. I'm with you."
You love this person very much, and it's like you don't know what to do without them. You just don't. Life isn't the same without them, and I just have to tell you that they're with you. They are with you. They're in your backyard. They're in your kitchen.
They love to smell. Do you drink coffee?

When you go to bed at night - and I'm being pulled back again to the bed - I want you to notice sometime if you feel pressure up against you in the bed, because I think that dog is getting in the bed, laying with you at night when you're asleep.
It was a very loyal dog. It's loyal to you and loves you very much, and you were good to it. It's telling me you were good to it. Just notice when you go to bed sometime: if you feel pressure up against you and it wakes you up, it's your dog trying to cuddle you and comfort you.

I see a woman. She talks a lot. She's got curly hair, and she loves you a lot. She likes to give advice. She's a real sweet woman, but bossy. Do you understand that? Does any of that make sense? She was always telling people what to do: "Do it this way. Do it that way. I know best." But she's likable and lovable. She could get mean sometimes, though. Does that make sense?
Speaker 5 - Bonnie, Caller from California: Yeah.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: She's a good person. She was a good person. She made a difference in the world with her beliefs and the way she lived her life. She wasn't a big liar or anything like that. She was ethical, and she taught that to other people too. She lived what she preached. Do you know who that is?

Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Yeah, because she was feeling very motherly to me. She's telling me she loved her babies. She loved her babies, and she loved her job. She was telling me you were special.

It feels like he died and there wasn't anything you could do about it. It was somebody's time to go anyway, but it feels like this was something you could not have prevented, no matter what you did. It feels tragic. This boy is very much loved.
And you either didn't understand him, or he didn't understand - there was some kind of misunderstanding. Does that make sense?
Speaker 5 - Bonnie, Caller from California: No. There was lots of understanding.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Does that make sense? Should I keep going down that way?
Speaker 5 - Bonnie, Caller from California: Sure. I'd love to hear what you're picking up on.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: I'm picking up that there was a misunderstanding where you didn't understand each other about something. I don't know what it is. It might have been minor. I don't know, but there was some kind of misunderstanding.
It just feels too young to die - too young. It feels like it was a surprise or not expected. Does that make sense?
Speaker 5 - Bonnie, Caller from California: Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: And it also feels sudden to me. Does that make sense?
Speaker 5 - Bonnie, Caller from California: Yeah. Yep.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: You couldn't have done anything. Just stop that. None of this is your fault. He wants you to know that you're loved. You're loved. I'm truly sorry.
He's happy now. He's at peace. You don't have to wonder or question anymore. He's not lost anymore.

Speaker 5 - Bonnie, Caller from California: Has he been sending me signs? Recently, has he really upped his game with the signs?

Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: So do I, because, Bonnie, this whole time I was waiting for Nancy to do her thing, and I was thinking, "At the end, I have to bring this up," because your son is showing me something so funny.
Your son showed me putting batteries in something, as if he shorted something out. I kept getting this sense of, "Why the hell won't this thing work? We're changing the batteries." It felt like his energy was so strong that something was getting disrupted.
Speaker 5 - Bonnie, Caller from California: I know what you're talking about. He's doing it through the cell phone, and he's showing up through this picture. There's lighting around the image. On an iPhone, you can take an image out and make it like a sticker or something, and it lights up. Well, he did that, and he's lighting up. He was a very funny, funny guy.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: And you were very close.
Speaker 5 - Bonnie, Caller from California: Yeah.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: You also have to pay attention to the battery life of the phone or something, because he literally showed me a battery, and I'm like, "What is he doing, shorting everything out in the house? What is going on with this guy?"
Speaker 5 - Bonnie, Caller from California: You know how a photo will fade out because it's saving your battery? It wasn't fading. He must have had to put extra energy into it. He's killing it - he's draining the battery out of my phone. His image stayed up for like an hour.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: Got it. So that's a yes to your question, my friend. I'm so glad you asked that, because I'm sitting here going, "What could this be?"
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: That's a thing that's common. They can control the TV. They can actually ring your phone and call you. They can turn on your lights. And watches with a battery - I don't even know if they make them anymore, because I don't wear a watch - they won't run on me.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: Your son probably has the same deal going on. He's upped his game for sure. If he was coming in with butterflies and hummingbirds and feathers, and now he's up with the electronics, I think so.

Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Yes, they are. I did a reading one time, and an angel called me. On the phone, where it said who called, it said "Bermuda Angel." I was doing a reading, and I could sense an angel in the reading that kept trying to get into the reading. Then my phone rings and says "Bermuda Angel."
I called it back, and it was just nothing. I called the phone company, and they said, "There's no such number." I was looking at it.

Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: I get cigar smoke. It could be pipe smoke or cigar smoke, but I think it's a cigar. He smokes and reads the newspaper - a paper newspaper - while smoking. He feels educated, or he likes to be up on the news and what's going on, and he loved you a lot.

Speaker 6 - Thelma, Caller from Georgia: I didn't hear you. I didn't understand you. I'm sorry.
Speaker 6 - Thelma, Caller from Georgia: I said yes, I know someone who smoked, but they did not read the newspaper.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Well, I might have two people coming in at the same time, because I see somebody reading the newspaper. They like to be informed. They like books too. It's a man, and I also see the smoking going on, so I might have two people who are here.
And I have somebody who's having trouble breathing. They're having trouble getting their breath. Do you know somebody like that, or somebody who died like that? It's like, "I can't breathe." It's lung or cardiovascular trouble. I even think there was a rattle. It was very upsetting to observe because they were struggling.
They also feel to me like they were sedated, or they were in a bed, a hospital bed. They feel somewhat sedated, but still with this raspy, hard time breathing. They're so glad it's over. They're so glad that's gone.
Were you there? Did you see that?
Speaker 6 - Thelma, Caller from Georgia: I did not witness it. I did not witness it.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Okay. It feels like somebody was there in the room. Do you know if he had other visitors? Because I feel him holding somebody's hand, or somebody holding his hand, when he was in the bed breathing. So he was aware of that person being there.
He's also telling me there were a lot of prayers said for him. He also saw his mother and daddy before he died. They came to the room. I don't know if he spoke about that before he died, but he's showing me that they were there too.
I don't know who that is, but that's how they died.
There's something about how you can ask them a question and they'll tell you the answer. You can talk to them. You can say, "Hey, Tom, should I do this? Should I do that?" You can ask for help. See and listen. Listen and see if you hear an answer.

Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Let me ask you this. We have five minutes. Is there something specific you want to know rather than me just generally telling you things?
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: Well, I lost something like four months ago, and I've been working so hard to get that back. It just seems like... I'm trying not to lose faith, but there are days that I really do.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: You lost something four or five months ago? I didn't understand you.
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: Yes.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: You lost something, and you want it back?
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: Yes.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Does it have to do with your career?
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: Yeah.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: I think it made you sad when this happened, and you felt lost. But I think that you're going to be able to move forward. It might not be in the same position, or the same company, or the same job, but you're strategic and you're a creative person.
I think that if you put your mind to it and continue to move forward, something's going to open up for you, and you will blossom. You will move ahead. You'll be using your abilities and your experience, and I'm hearing "doing what you want to."
And don't believe everything you hear about this career problem. I don't know if there's gossip or somebody said something to you or whatever. I don't know. But don't believe everything.
This is kind of like one of those things where you count your blessings whenever something like that happens, because you move forward and land in a better position - whether you're happier, you make more money, you have to work less, or whatever. But you're going to be okay. It's going to take a little while longer, so don't give up. Don't give up.
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: I try not to. I'm a fighter.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: You're a fighter, and they're saying continue to be persistent in it. You're a winner, and don't forget that. You have resources within you to make something really good happen for yourself. You'll be so glad that you did. You'll be your own commander of your own life.
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: That gives me more faith, you know.
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Ask your angels. Ask angels for help, for guidance, to send you the right opportunities. They hear you. Don't give up on them. They don't give up on you. Stay after it. You'll get what you want.

I have this animal. I don't even know if this dog or cat belonged to you or somebody else, but I have this animal, and they're talking about either being indoor-outdoor or wanting to be. I keep hearing, "I liked being outside so much better. Why did they always want me to be inside? I liked being outside better."
Do you have any idea? Did you have an outdoor cat that you had to fight to keep home at night, or do you know what this is?
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: The thing is, I had a dog, and she always wanted to be outside. She was so lovable.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: Okay, so your dog - she was an outdoor girlie.
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: Yep.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: And that dog has passed?
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: Yes.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: Okay. That's who I have. I'm laughing because all this dog was saying was, "I liked being outside." I thought it might have been a cat, because I'm like, who has a dog that runs around the neighborhood? But if your dog was outside in the yard, I'll take it.
All I'm hearing is, "I wanted to be outside. Why did they want me in the house all the time? I wanted to be outside." So funny.
Also, Dawn, did this dog have any issues with the sinuses, or was there some type of breathing problem at one point, maybe even allergies? I'm hearing something like that.
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: Yes, she got sick.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: Did she have a lung thing, or did she get a cold all the time?
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: Yes. She got sick with something to do with her lungs, and she ended up passing.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: Okay. Please know, even though she's bringing it up, it's just her way of letting you know she's okay and validating that this is her.
For a second, I thought I had a pug here because I'm hearing a lot of snorting. She didn't seem like a pug. I don't see a pug.
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: I'm going to tell you, she was a Rottweiler.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: Oh, okay. They're the best dogs. Was she mixed with something else, not 100 percent Rottweiler?
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: No, she was 100 percent. Yeah, I think I paid for her.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: I mean, it's probably too late now to complain to the breeder. She made me feel like there was a small mix of something in there, I've got to be honest. Maybe she was like five percent something else.
Anyway, what I want to say, though, is this dog was like your soulmate. For me, soulmates don't have to be people you marry. It could be your mother, your dog, your neighbor, whoever. If you've had all the dogs through the years, I'm sure you love them all the same, but this one in particular has soulmate energy. Do you understand that with this dog?
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: Yes. What's funny is, because when she passed, I named my next dog right after her.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: Is there like a Penny or a Patty? Do you know what that name is? I don't know if it's in your family or it's another dog.
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: My mom's name is Pat.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: Oh, your mom is Pat. Has Mom passed too?
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: Yes.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: Please know Mom's with the dog. I don't know if she would have been the biggest...
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: Oh, my mother wanted me to get rid of her because when I brought her home, she was a puppy. She ate the side of my love seat. My mother said, "Get her out of here."
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: That's funny, because I heard your mom. I don't know if your mom went by Patty, but I heard it more like Pat, Patty.
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: Pat.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: Oh, Pat. There we go. I knew there was a Y somewhere in there. But I'm standing with this dog because I'm like, "This is not exactly her favorite position to be in, but all right." She's with the dog. Your other soulmate here - your mom is with your dog. These two ladies are going around you all the time.
And just to bring it back to what you asked about, they did bring up the work thing too. I'm going to mirror exactly what Nancy said. You're going to be fine. They said, "We're working on it. Don't worry about it." So when you ask your angels to help you, ask them to - even the dog. They'll be able to help you for sure.
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: Can I say something? I just got the chills up through my whole body.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: That's when you know that they're there, right, Nancy? You feel that?
Speaker 3 - Nancy Marlowe, Guest Medium: Yeah. That's right.
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: She was so mad. "My furniture!" She was like, "I can't believe you're going to keep this dog after this."
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: I bet.
And then, Dawn, one last thing at work. I don't know why they showed me this. I don't know if they just asked you to work on some special project, or there's some report you're compiling with other people. I'm seeing multiple people working on kind of the same thing, or different aspects of the same project.
I don't know if you've ever seen the movie Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead from the '80s.
Speaker 7 - Dawn, Caller from Kentucky: No, but now I'm going to have to watch it.
Speaker 2 - Joe Perreta, Host: You've got to go watch it. There's a part where they're working on something - I think it's called a QED report; I forget what that stands for. Anyway, this teenage girl gets a job and she's pretending to be like a mother of three, and she's only 17 and has no idea what's happening.
She ends up delegating the work, and they try to get her in trouble. Then the boss is like, "This was genius, to not do this yourself. I'm so happy that you've delegated it." I keep seeing that scene for some reason.
So I feel like I'm supposed to tell you that people are kind of watching a lot of what you're doing, just FYI - other coworkers and things like that. Make sure you're on your best behavior, which I'm sure you are anyway. But there's something about delegating work, or not being afraid to ask for help in this situation, just because it's a group thing.
I don't mean to go on and on about it. It's just one last thing I wanted to leave you with.
