Shartin N, who also was named Pacer of the Year, captured 83 votes in Horse of the Year balloting. Three-year-old colt pacer Bettor's Wish was second with 42 and 3-year-old colt trotter Greenshoe, the Trotter of the Year, was third with 14.
Also receiving Horse of the Year votes were Manchego (three), Warrawee Ubeaut (two), and Atlanta, Six Pack, and When Dovescry (one each).

Voting for Communicators HOF went to Jay Bergman from Sports Eye, now the Daily Racing Form and Joe Kyle, the Hervey Award winning photographer for 40 years with the Horseman and Fair World magazine. Both on now on the ballot for voting for Hall of Fame induction in September.

Kim Rinker, who works as media specialist for the Ohio Racing Commission and the Ohio Sire Stakes, was voted the new President of USHWA and USHWA treasurer, Barry Leftkowitz, the former PR man at Roosevelt and Yonkers Raceway was voted Vice President. Outgoing president Shawn Wiles is now the Chairman of the Board of USHWA.

Pompano Park hosting Living Legions tournament on Sunday with eight of the top dash winning drivers in history at the track. They read like a who’s who of harness racing greats.
Pompano Park was also in the spotlight last week, co-hosting the World Cup for Amateur Drivers Championship over two nights of racing.
