Oh, tis the season and Jahnoi’s “Christmas Celebration” is great to start getting you into the Christmas spirit and the real reason for celebrating. Jahnoi has been steadily fulfilling his passion for music; and brings a voice of warmth and reassurance from his first major exposure back in the 2008 edition of TVJ’s All Together Sing High School Competition in Jamaica, where he played a key role in his alma mater, Mona High School’s 3rd place finish. It is hard not to make mention of his 2015 debut EP “Covered by the Blood” which became a familiar musical companion, ministering to souls across Jamaica and the world under the former name of “Minister GodArtiste”
Since then, the talented and infectious artiste has been nominated in the Gospel Xplosion Music Media Awards (GXMMA) in the UK and International Male Artiste of the year 2016 alongside gospel icons, such as: Donnie McClurkin, Travis Greene, and Jermaine Edwards. Now, the singer and songwriter has made his first-ever holiday song with Christmas Celebration. A delightful, comforting and riveting experience of a timeless seasonal connection that explores the complicated emotions of our times; and our hopes that the holiday season will be celebrated for the real reason “Christ” with love, joy and togetherness. “Christmas Celebration” is a modern Mento song, which was given swaggering horns and includes an uplifting beat that created a sublime masterpiece. Modern mento is the music that predated Ska, Reggae and Dancehall and is one of the earlier forms of indigenous Jamaican Music. Mento is popularly recognized by Jamaicans as folk music and is regularly played for tourists in hotels on the island. Popular examples of Mento music include: 1. Three Blind Mice, which was featured in the intro scene of the iconic James Bond Film “Dr. No” and “Day O!” the hit song by Harry Belafonte. “Christmas Celebration” was produced by Dale ‘Dizzle’ Virgo of DZL Records, and the holiday single will be released by December 17 2021 on all major streaming platforms via DZL Records.
