Leo Garcia, an NEA award-winning playwright, actor, filmmaker, producer, teacher, and activist has served as Highways’ Artistic Director since 2003.

One of the most versatile theater artists in Southern California, Leo Garcia is a nationally respected playwright, actor, filmmaker, teacher, director and producer. His plays have won awards from The National Endowment for the Arts, Theatre Communications Group, New York Foundation for the Arts, Mark Taper Forum, South Coast Repertory, The National Hispanic Media Coalition, and MCA/Universal. Garcia’s works have been presented by numerous nationally-established companies and presenters, including New York’s Theater for the New City, The New York Shakespeare Public Festival, The Jewish Repertory Theatre, INTAR, The Los Angeles Theater Center, The South Coast Repertory Theatre, The Tiffany Theatre, and Santa Fe Stages, among many others. He worked for many years with his mentor, internationally acclaimed playwright and director, Maria Irene Fornes, as writer and actor and has been directed by her in her plays in New York, Los Angeles and Siena, Italy at the Dionysia World Festival. Fornes also directed Garcia’s play, “Dogs,” at West Coast Ensemble Theater in LA.

Garcia has also been a fixture on the Los Angeles alternative performing arts scene for many years, one of a handful of artists who represent a fully developed, professional approach to multidisciplinary work. His show of solo works, “My Alien Abduction,” was an LA Weekly Performance Pick of the Week. Between 1995 and 2002, he served as an artist, teacher, director and producer for numerous productions and classes at Highways ; Resident Playwright with the Mark Taper Forum’s Latino Theatre Initiative; and Project Artistic Director and Playwright of the community-based San Diego Playwrights Project. As an actor, Garcia appeared in over 30 off-Broadway and regional theatre productions and guest starred in such episodic series as “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” “Tour of Duty,” and “Jake and the Fatman.” He was also a regular on the daytime drama Santa Barbara. As a filmmaker, Garcia’s film, “A Rainy Day,” was distributed by Universal Television and was shown in festivals nationally and internationally. Garcia has been recognized by Out Magazine as one of the OUT 100 of 2005, a list of the year’s most interesting, influential, and newsworthy LGBT people. He is the recipient of the Master of Fine Arts degree from the Asolo Conservatory.

What delights me is that over the last 19 years since experiencing my very first Energy training, I’ve just known that Energy was going to be vitally important to my life.

Healing began happening within that first training and with me...because I just decided I wanted more and Better in my life, and set about using the Energy tools I gathered, on me. This persistently created good change in me.

Something else showed up...some kind of 'clear guidance' to the trainings and tools that would benefit me Most.  Some were an experience of "ok . . . that is not going deep or fast or efficiently enough for me . . . so I’d move on.

So the more I asked for Better Please...the more skillful & easy the tools put in front of me have become...and some are so much Fun.  BALANCE in life is important to me...and so gaining tools to create that has been a focus.

Now, how grateful I am with my tool box . . . and yes, it’s always up for an updates.

It’s also been made obvious to me that by improving Me . . . I then, am a  resonance for more Love . . . which is the fastest easiest way to be doing good for all the world and humanity.

My feeling is that we humans have massive capacities and I’m full throttle on achieving whatever I can in my own body and life . . . towards Full Human Potential.

Michael Tellinger has become one of South Africa’s bestselling export authors. His regular articles on human origins and his book Slave Species of god have been praised by readers in over 20 countries.

Michael is a scientist in the true sense of the word, never shying away from controversial issues, scrutinising every clue meticulously. He graduated in 1983 from the University Of Witwatersrand Medical School, Johannesburg, with a B.Pharmaceutics degree, a passion for the cosmos, genetics and human history.

His research and astute understanding of his subject matter has made him a regular guest on many radio shows in the USA and UK with popular hosts like George Noory on Coast to Coast; Kevin Smith, Hillary Raimo, American Freedom Radio, Howard Hughes in the UK; the Camelot Project, and more.

Before applying his writing and research skills to books, Michael followed his other passion, for music. He spent much of his early years in the arts performing on stage and screen. As part of the duo “Stirling & Tellinger” he had several music hits in South Africa. In 1986, he worked in Los Angeles for Cannon Films as a sound designer and editor; and wrote and recorded the controversial anti-apartheid song “We come from Johannesburg”, which was banned under the previous regime. His latest contribution to the arts was a song called “Side By Side With Angels”, for the TSUNAMI disaster fund in 2005, which featured a number of top SA artists. He has written a number of screenplays, children’s educational books and TV shows.

As a producer he created a variety of TV shows and worked as a presenter on numerous others. As a writer in advertising in 1989, he received a Clio award in New York and in 2000 he presented his own weekly show on 567 Cape Talk radio in Cape Town, exploring technology, science and astronomy.

After a 30-year long obsession with the origins of humankind and the genetic anomalies of our species, he took some time out to write Slave Species of god, which became an instant bestseller in South Africa. When Johan Heine exposed the mystery of the stone ruins of South Africa to Michael in 2007, they began an irreversible process of research that led Michael to some startling scientific conclusions and the completion of two more books, Adam’s Calendar and Temples Of The African Gods.

It is uncanny that Michael’s passion for music and his understanding of sound frequency, harmonic resonance and wave formation in scientific terms, has allowed him to make the astounding breakthrough in decoding the mystery of the ancient ruins and lost civilisations of southern Africa.
