Young love has a particular restlessness, all those mixed signals, late-night overthinking and feelings that refuse to settle. Meanjin/Brisbane indie surf-rock outfit Tickets To Space bottle that tension on their debut single 'Uncovered', out Friday, May 29. Bursting with sun-soaked guitar lines, driving rhythms and an easygoing charm, the track captures the confusion of being caught in a relationship where the rules keep changing.
Made up of four mates studying at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Tickets To Space bring together Fraser Stott (vocals, guitar), Isaac Wilkinson (lead guitar), Bailey George Gravenall (bass) and Luca Charles (drums). At just 19, these guys are already building momentum, with 'Uncovered' arriving as the first taste in what promises to be an exciting run of releases for 2026.
Steeped in hazy indie and surf rock sounds, 'Uncovered' carries a frenetic kind of energy, leaning into fuzzed-out guitars, crashing drums and melodic hooks that feel made for long drives and warm nights. There is an easygoing charm to its sound, though beneath the sun-soaked exterior, the track explores the uncertainty of a relationship caught in a constant push-and-pull.
At its core, 'Uncovered' traces the frustration of an on-again, off-again relationship, where shifting emotions and mixed signals leave one person constantly trying to make sense of the other. Building steadily toward a cathartic, tension-filled guitar bridge, Fraser Stott’s warm, understated vocals hold the track in an intimate kind of vulnerability. Elaborating on the meaning behind the single, Stott shares:
“'Uncovered' relates to frustration over an on-again, off-again relationship when someone is bewildered by the erratic behaviour of the other person, who has been calling all the shots.”
Out Friday, May 29, 'Uncovered' arrives as the first chapter in Tickets To Space’s story, capturing that rush, confusion and uncertainty of young relationships. With more music already on the horizon, the Meanjin/Brisbane outfit are only just getting started. The guys launch the single on Saturday, June 20, at Hunting Grounds Studios, Brisbane.
