Boorloo/Perth alternative artist Dawson returns with ‘maybe someday’, a heartfelt and brooding new single out Friday, April 17. Known for his intimate sound built around warm guitars, textured production and soulful vocals, Dawson continues to lean into emotional vulnerability on this latest release.

To date, Dawson’s music has accumulated over 7 million streams, alongside supporting a stack of artists including Broods, Vera Blue, Mansionair, Boo Seeka, Thelma Plum, Wafia and more. Following his 2024 singles ‘more than I bargained for’ and ‘if I could read you, would I want to?’, and a recent support slot with The Beautiful Girls, he continues to expand his catalogue with deeply personal storytelling and a distinct electro-acoustic sound.

Built on emotion that hits close to the heart, ‘maybe someday’ evokes a sense of despair and anguish. With shimmering, atmospheric synths, supported by reverb-drenched piano, Dawson's warm, unmistakable vocals are embellished with some careful post-production effects. With a push and pull feeling, the intimate, solitary verses give way to lush, pleading choruses that carry a sense of hope, lending to the raw, relatable theme of loss and longing.

Caught between holding on and letting go, Dawson reflects on the weight of the past as he searches for something ahead. As he explains:

“This song is about finding it hard to let go of something that you’re not ready to let go of. You question everything, you overthink everything, you wonder if you could’ve changed anything but at the end of the day there’s nothing you can do. All you can do is hope that maybe someday things will be different.”

With ‘maybe someday’, Dawson steps forward while still tethered to what came before. Dawson’s ‘maybe someday’ arrives Friday, April 17.
