He is a Republican who represents the 6th district, which is a northeast area outside Sacramento, composed of Sacramento suburbs, exurbs, and rural areas. Kiley was a candidate to replace California governor Gavin Newsom in a voter-initiated special recall election which was held on September 14, 2021. He is a candidate in the 2022 election for California's 3rd congressional district.
