Susan and Deb will be discussing the concept behind GenealogyFreelancers. This is a service that aids those searching their family history by providing a convenient and economical way in which to locate expert, international genealogists, researchers, translators, photographers, publishers and others in the genealogy related fields. This original  method of connecting the specialist to the seeker simplifies an often time consuming, and highly specialised endeavour.

Those seeking details about their ancestry simply post the details of their family history project and then their requests are announced to our  world wide base of experts that match the required skills and geographic location of the new project.  The seeker compares the offers they receive and then will choose the most appropriate specialist for the job.

For the Specialist  the service provides a platform for those new to the profession in that they have a safe place to begin their career.  Those transitioning to genealogy as a fulltime profession, those who have retired, yet wish to stay in the game or those who wish to expand their clientele will all find that the service will meet their needs.  The rating system that we have in place gives an immediate  reference to the specialist with validation for a job well done and it allows other seekers to feel comfort with their choice.

Genealogy Freelancers was concieved by genealogists for the genealogy community.  The mission is to keep their interests and needs above all else.

Deborah Irwin is a professional Genealogist who currently serves as chief executive officer for Genealogy Freelancers, an on-line service she began with her two partners in May of 2008 that serves both the seeker of their family history and the professional genealogy freelancer.  Her experience in the field of genealogy dates back to 1987 and includes her position as Research Director for Ancestral Attic, a research and tours company that specializes in Eastern Europe. In addition to delegating on-site research in Poland and former regions of Poland for Ancestral Attic she has traveled extensively throughout Eastern Europe to conduct independent research and tours for some of her clients.  She is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, FEEFTHS, PGSA, PGSM, FGS and is active in her local chapter of the Cheboygan County Genealogical Society.
