Headlined Show, Insight Out...the Naked Truth August 22, 2017
Tuesday nights Live 7 PM (PT)
Sunday mornings re-broadcast 8 AM (PT)
No, you're not having a deja vu.  Since we had technical difficulties last week and were not able to broadcast our live program, we're going to try again tonight. So, as our phrase of the week suggests, "There's a lesson in that." Let's see if we can find it. So here we go again. Once more with feeling!

This week's featured phrase is "There's a Lesson in That"

You could probably say that about most anything, but our ability to find and appreciate the lesson, let alone apply it, can vary a lot. And if something really bothers you, and you're impatient for the lesson, you can always find a punchline.

Finding the lessons in life's circumstances are what lead to wisdom, and some important and often truths about life can only be discovered by going through hardships

Being aware of what the lessons are also leads to growth--increasing capacity to make the best out of our lives and to face more and more diverse and challenging situations with poise, awareness, creativity and a sense of humor

And, as I'm fond of saying, "If all else fails, take it personally."

Please join us tonight and let's see what lessons and laughs can emerge out of our conversation. And just to spice up the process we'll include, our zany characters, music, surprises and, of course, insights--naked ones.

Until we talk tonight,

Errol & RochelleAnd if you really knew us....you'd really be laughing a lot, too

"There's a lesson in that."

Why Am I So Happy Guest, Cheryl Sherman July 26, 2016
Author, Visionary, Bliss Finder

Bio: My favorite saying is, 'Find Your Bliss!' That's what I'm doing as I write my Ocean Depths series. It's fun, like reading one of my favorite novels as it unfolds before me. I want to entertain my intended audience and take them out of their world into the fiction world I've created.

As for me, I enjoy nature, the ocean, my family/friends and animal friends and discovering new ideas. Educating myself and learning about different spiritual ideas is fun. I enjoy playing my Taylor guitar and Kawai grand piano. Creating a garden space around my home and being out in nature is part of my bliss.

I'm concerned about our planet, her oceans and fresh water ways. Our planet can only take so much pollution, dumping of chemicals, sonar blasts in our oceans that destroy the internal organs of sea mammals, and bombs before we sicken it beyond its ability to heal. Once we've poisoned and abused the Earth to point of its demise, where will we go? We can't help but impact it, but why destroy it? We have the ability to nurture it and be respectful of it. But will we?

My hope for humanity is that we can work at finding our own bliss and be good to one another and our planet along the way no matter what belief systems we adhere too or what governments we live under. Is that simplistic? Yes, but often times the simpler an idea is, the easier it is to implement.

Life is interesting, hilarious, catastrophic, heartbreaking, heartwarming, and amazing and I'm glad to have a chance to live and learn.  And I hope along the way that my journey may help someone else realize their bliss to the betterment of us all!

Book Series: The Ocean Depths series would make a wonderful movie series for my intended audience, being visually fun. The characters are mermen, mermaids, real gods, goddesses (who live among us), river and sea nymphs and witches. They're living in La Jolla on the San Diego coast, in coastal rivers and deep out in the ocean at King Poseidon's castle as he rules over the world's oceans, or 'Mother Gaea's blood' as deity in my story call it.

Callista Ann Sunders, my heroine is a California senior in high school who is saved by Triton, (hero, god/merman and shape-shifter) after her car rolls down the bank into the Pacific. Callista is jabbed with toxin/venom while in the ocean and freaks when her body slowly changes from human to something else. She eventually learns that Triton isn't just a teenager like herself, but a god and merman.

Callista is a generational witch whose element is the sea and is well grounded in myth because of her mysterious Grandma Anne. Still, Callista finds all that's happening to her and learning who Triton is, completely unbelievable and incredulous! Romance, magic and conflict over how to save the planet because of mankind's continued abuse of it is the back drop for all the drama in the series.

Book two, Ocean Depths A Time, is at the publisher.

The conflict continues as the hero and heroine try to solve some of it. It involves time travel back into my heroes past (Prince Triton) on Pitcairn Island which Triton calls, 'Nanwe' before the Bounty gets there. Callista has to convince Triton that he and she are dear friends and more, quite a daunting task.

Book three, Ocean Depths A Life, is 100 pages in as the adventure, drama, romance and conflict continue! Book four Ocean Depths A Dream is just the title, but that's all I need for it to LIVE! As I progress, the ideas for the rest of the series will come to me. Triton and Callista will see to it. They want their story told!

Universal Soul Love Guest, Mark Sargent July 26, 2016
Flat Earth Theorist

Growing up on South Whidbey Island, Washington, Mark K. Sargent started his career playing computer games professionally in Boulder Colorado. From there he spent the next 20 years training people in proprietary software. In 2014, he looked into what is no doubt the most ridiculous conspiracy ever, called "Flat Earth Theory", and through extensive research, discovered that it wasn't so laughable after all.

Early in 2015, he released a series of YouTube videos titled "Flat Earth Clues", which delves into the possibility of our human civilization actually being inside a "Truman show"-like enclosed system, and how it's been hidden from the public since 1956.

Born in Seattle, grew up on South Whidbey Island, founded the Brimstone fireworks company in college, shut down by the ATF my junior year in 1990.

Spent 3 years as a sous chef at a Greek restaurant, won the first computer pinball world tournament in 1994, hired by a PC game publisher in Boulder Colorado the same year, played computer games for a living until 1997. Stayed in the Boulder technology sector ever since.

Never married, never had kids. Most of my extensive free time is spent trying to unravel the hidden truths of our civilization, and the never ending search for the meaning of life itself. If I had to pick a single motto, it would be, "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst". A close second is, "Don't regret what you've done, regret what you haven't".

John Barbours World Guest, Rebecca Gordon July 25, 2016
Author

Rebecca Gordon received her B.A. from Reed College and her M.Div. and Ph.D. in Ethics and Social Theory from Graduate Theological Union. She teaches in the Philosophy department at the University of San Francisco and for the university’s Leo T. McCarthy Center for Public Service and the Common Good. Previous publications include Letters From Nicaragua  and Cruel and Usual: How Welfare “Reform” Punishes Poor People .

Her latest book, American Nuremberg: The Officials Who Should Stand Trial for Post 9/11 War Crimes, was published by Hot Books in April 2016. An audio version is also available.

Prior to her academic career, Gordon spent a few decades working in a variety of national and international movements for peace and justice. These include the movements for women’s liberation and LGBT rights; movements in solidarity with the struggles of poor people in Central America; the anti-apartheid movement in the United States and South Africa; and movements opposing U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In 1984, Gordon spent six months living in the war zones of Nicaragua, and in 1990, three months teaching desktop publishing at an anti-apartheid newspaper in Cape Town, South Africa. She is an editor of WarTimes/Tiempo de guerras,  which seeks to bring a race, class, and gender perspective to issues of war and peace.

About American Nuremburg: The U.S. Officials Who Should Stand Trial for Post-9/11 War Crimes by Rebecca Gordon...

No subject is more hotly debated than the extreme measures that our government has taken after 9/11 in the name of national security. Torture, extraordinary rendition, drone assassinations, secret detention centers (or “black sites”), massive surveillance of citizens. But while the press occasionally exposes the dark side of the war on terror and congressional investigators sometimes raise alarms about the abuses committed by U.S. intelligence agencies and armed forces, no high U.S. official has been prosecuted for these violations – which many legal observers around the world consider war crimes.

The United States helped establish the international principles guiding the prosecution of war crimes – starting with the Nuremberg tribunal following World War II, when Nazi officials were held accountable for their crimes against humanity. But the American government and legal system have consistently refused to apply these same principles to our own officials. Now Rebecca Gordon takes on the explosive task of “indicting” the officials who – in a just society – should be put on trial for war crimes. Some might dismiss this as a symbolic exercise. But what is at stake here is the very soul of the nation.
