Photographer, Shroud of Turin Researcher, Educator, Editor, Writer, Author
The Shroud of Turin is a centuries old linen cloth that bears the image of a crucified man. A man that millions believe to be Jesus of Nazareth. Is it really the cloth that wrapped his crucified body, or is it simply a medieval forgery, a hoax perpetrated by some clever artist? Modern science has completed hundreds of thousands of hours of detailed study and intense research on the Shroud. It is, in fact, the single most studied artifact in human history, and we know more about it today than we ever have before. And yet, the controversy still rages.
The Shroud of Turin went on public display for the first time in ten years on April 10, 2010, in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in the city of Turin, Italy. Visitors from around the world have been flocking to see the Shroud since the opening day of the exhibition. On May 5th, Turin authorities stated that more than 2 million pilgrims are now expected over the course of the exhibition, which closes on May 23, 2010. This figure surpasses earlier estimates by several hundred thousand visitors. This exhibition also marks the first opportunity for the public to view the Shroud since its controversial restoration in 2002.
On Sunday, May 2, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI visited the Turin Cathedral and venerated the relic, after which he delivered a homily titled "If We Are United to Christ, We Can Truly Love." He then went on to deliver some additional comments on the Shroud. An English translation of those important comments was published by Zenit.org in an article titled, "Pope's Remarks After Venerating Shroud of Turin - In the Hour of Extreme Solitude We Will Never Be Alone."

ESTA BERNSEIN
Born in Connecticut, horse-crazy child, Esta Bernstein, began her love affair with horses before she could walk. Her parents owned a few Thoroughbred racehorses and she remembers fondly visiting them at the track and farms as a small child.
Though her parents were not affluent, she was blessed to have riding lessons at a day camp during her early elementary school years. At the age of 10, she volunteered as a trail guide in Easton, Connecticut, and witnessed some of the inhumane treatment the rental horses were exposed to at the hands of inexperienced people. These patient creatures endured beatings with sticks, being kicked and pulled, and non-stop riding in the heat and humidity of the summer months. They rarely felt the caress of a brush, and never saw a warm bath or an occasional kind word.
At age 12, Esta’s family went through unrecoverable financial hardships, and were forced to move many times over the course of a few years. One move to Denver, Colorado provided Esta the ability to volunteer part time as an assistant to a pair of horse wranglers. Having no idea at the time what that was, she witnessed the cruelty and abuse that some of the horses went through. They would purchase horses cheap at auctions or killer feedlots, break them, and resell them. The treatment of one horse was particularly disturbing. He was a 3-year old Quarter horse stud colt, which the wranglers attempted to geld themselves. After tying the petrified creature to a tree, they proceeded to beat him with a chain until he was too afraid to move. They inexpertly and ineffectively tranquilized him, tied his legs together, threw him on the ground, and cut off his testicles with an ordinary kitchen knife. “I went to check on him the following day. I cried on his neck, feeling helpless in the presence of this beaten, depressed, and confused hurting horse. I was going to call the humane society, but upon my return, the horses and the men that tormented them had disappeared.” She never saw them again.
Esta had an epiphany. Her life’s mission was to save horses from abuse and neglect, and provide them with a place to live out their lives in peace and dignity.
Many years passed and the call of the horses would wait no more. In her early 20’s, Esta had an opportunity to move to California, the place she envisioned her dreams to manifest. She was offered a position as a groom for Bobby Frankel’s racing stable and worked for about a year, until a back injury prevented her from returning to that kind of labor-intensive position. Knowing that she needed to stay in California to see her dreams through to fruition, she found employment outside of the horse industry, and remained in the Los Angeles area.
After working for about a year, the desire to work and be around horses, motivated her to save small amounts of money over time for the purchase of her very own horse. That horse turned out to be an 8 year old, lame, Arabian stallion to do trail riding. Why would anyone purchase a lame horse to go on trails with? She knew she could fix him. He had severe ringbone (arthritis) in his right front pastern and the joint was almost completely fused. She was told by everyone she spoke with that he would not make it to the age of 15. However, after 2 years of research, she found a way to cure him, and now at age 33 he is serviceably sound, still her trail horse and sired two beautiful colts for her to show.
The horse she purchased was Caleyndar. Under her care and expertise, he became a world famous Arabian that was featured in Robert Vavra’s “Horses of the Sun” and National Geographic’s documentary “The Nobel Horse”. He was also featured on many of artist Kim McElroy’s portraits, note cards, and other Leanin’ Tree publications, as well as Ron Kimball’s images used for screensavers and wallpaper. In 2004, he won the Arabian Horse Times, Most Classic Contest and his image can currently be seen in ads for Arabian Horse World’s web design services. Though his injury prevented him from ever being shown, he is still one of the world’s most recognizable equines in recent history.
Caleyndar’s injury lead Esta into the world of equine holistic nutrition and rehabilitation. Because of Esta’s well known success with healing Caleyndar, and dedicating over 20 years educating herself in these fields, she has become a go to person across the country when other horse owners need information on assisting and rehabilitating injured horses. Caleyndar’s notoriety has brought many equestrian contacts to Esta’s door. These contacts are now proving invaluable in her mission of rescuing and rehabilitating other horses in need.
Esta is also currently teaching an equine therapy program she designed entitled “Equalia Actualization,” that embodies the wisdom, knowledge, and spirit of the horses, combined with some of the theories of psychologist Abraham Maslow, which refers to an enlightened maturity characterized by the achievement of goals, acceptance of oneself, and an ability to self-assess in a realistic and positive way.
Equalia Actualization was developed after seeing a need to bring rescued horses and people together, so that we as a species could see the real value of horses. A rescued horse knows first hand what mental, emotional, and physical trauma is, and when allowed to engage one-on-one with people of all ages, they enlighten the way to the kingdom inside all of us. The horses of Saffyre Sanctuary, where rescues are treated like royalty, are the stars of this movie, we call life.
Additionally Esta is in post production of her documentary “Changing Horses” https://www.changinghorsesthefilm.com/. As the producer/director of this film, Esta is uncovering the depths of the horse/human dynamic from people all over the globe. The film explores the personal stories of how horses change people, so people can change the world. Through interviewing prominent individuals in the equine community, we discuss some very complex issues regarding our human value systems, and how we can adjust our societal beliefs to ensure our survival as a species.

Addiction Recovery Counselor and Sex Coach [C]
BIO: I am Anadel Baughn Barbour, with 12 years of experience working with people in recovery from substances and negative behaviors. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern and am [being certified as] a Sex Coach. My other modes of practice include Mindfulness Meditation, Level 2 Reike Healing, Narrative Therapy and I have some training in Hypnotherapy.
I chose Mental Health as a career due to my own struggles with addiction. The road of sobriety had many challenges and having overcome most of them, I wanted to help others. I chose to add Sex Coaching to my practice because the need is tremendous. Sex, sexuality and intimacy were areas that most people sought help for and which were sorely underrepresented in my Mental Health Training and Education. My own sex and intimacy concerns led me to find my own path to a healthy sexual ideal for myself. It was a tough journey. It was hard to find a therapist who dealt with normalizing sexual issues. Sexuality was ignored as a subject to embrace and improve upon if one wanted.
I finally found fulfillment doing my own work and research. Liberation from the bondage of confusion, shame and guilt about sex and sexuality was the result. I discovered just how normal I was and that I could live by my own values. I was able to take full ownership of my Powerful Sexual Energy. Having found a healthy attitude towards sex, my whole life changed, and I had a sense of well-being. I call my journey FLOW (Fulfillment, Liberation,
Ownership, Well-Being).
I would love to share it with everyone!

BASS SINGER RAY WALKER
WAS A MEMBER OF "THE JORDANAIRES"
FOR 54 YEARS
LEGENDARY BACKUP SINGERS FOR ELVIS PRESLEY
Ray Walker dropped out of school in 1955, moved to Centerville, Tennessee, where he helped to build a radio station, WHLP, worked with the local Church, and, became the youngest school principal in the history of Tennessee. He came back to college in 1956 and graduated in June 1957, with a BA Degree in Speech, Music, Bible, and, Education; worked for Werthan Bag Company during the Summer. By that time Ray and wife Marilyn's third child was on the way.
Ray continued working for the local Church and, in the Fall began teaching school in Davidson County Schools, where he was Assistant Principal, Coach, and commanded a split seventh and eighth grade class. It was April 1958 now, and through a business call to David Lipscomb College, Ray was put in touch with the Jordanaires by his former Choral Director. Gordon Stoker had called there, just prior to Ray's call, to see if the Music Department knew of a bass singer who might fit their requirements. When Ray spoke with the professor, he said to give them his name, which the professor did. Ray was called that afternoon, auditioned at 11:00 that evening, was called at the school the next day and asked to go to Hollywood to do some recording. The school board let him off, he went, came home and completed his school year of teaching, and joined the Jordanaires, officially, June 1, 1958.
Since that time, while working with the Jordanaires, he had a successful, daily, morning show, "YOUR OWN TIME" on the ABC Channel in Nashville in 1976. Ray has done modeling, numerous radio, television, magazine and newspaper commercials (locally and nationally). He was a deputy sheriff (as a liaison between trouble youth and distraught families) for twenty-some years and, as were all the Jordanaires, an honorary member of the Tennessee Governor's Staff in Tennessee for many years.
Among the accolades the group has received during his tenure with The Jordanaires is induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, the NACMAI (North American Country Music Association International) Hall of Fame, the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, Rockabilly Hall of Fame, Vocal Group Hall of Fame and others. Ray was inducted into The Rockabilly Hall of Fame, individually, in 2013. He was, also, awarded the "Avalon Award", the highest award given for contribution and accomplishment by his alma mater', David Lipscomb University, in 2005.
During the early 1960s, Ray Walker, Neal Matthews, Jr., Hoyt Hawkins and Gordon Stoker helped mold the genre of Country Music known as "The Nashville Sound", singing backup harmonies to such artists as Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves, Loretta Lynn, Rick Nelson, Kitty Wells, Dolly Parton, Billy Ray Cyrus, and many others to numerous to mention.
Also known for his solo recordings, Walker has helped in the development of albums and CDs of a cappella composition performed, among others, by the Freed-Hardeman University Singers and the Harding University Choir. For years, he served as song director for "The Amazing Grace" Bible program, produced by the Madison Church of Christ in the Nashville suburb. Marilyn was awarded "THE HEART OF A SERVANT AWARD" for her work with battered women.
Ray has over 600 a cappella worship songs recorded, reportedly being heard in 77 nations. Walker has been recorded nearly every week since he was 13 years old. He began singing in public at 6 years old. In the late 1940s, Ray was recorded, first time, on his Dad's wire recorder every week until he was 18; in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, and 2000s, he was sometimes recorded on 200 songs a week, as aids in church worship in spirit and truth series. Ray has found time to be involved in over three thousand sing-outs, youth rallies, appearances of his own.
Up to 2013, it is estimated that Walker has been recorded on more than 200,000 songs (including repeats for different services and classes), and including his professional recording with the Jordanaires, and is reservedly believed to be the most recorded voice in the history of music during his 66 years of performing.
Ray Walker is currently one of the ministers of the Waverly Church of Christ in Waverly, Tennessee. Ray continues to lead singing for congregations of the Churches of Christ.
Ray was the Bass Singer in "THE JORDANAIRES" for 54 years and 345 days, when upon the passing of Gordon Stoker, March 27, 2013, "THE JORDANAIRES" as a group, officially, came to an end. Ray, occasionally, performs with country crooner Ronnie McDowell, and others, in programs dedicated to the memory of Elvis Presley.
