5:00 pm Interview: Michelle Mazzara from Luvafoodie

Luvafoodie is a brand that connects people who share a passion for food and beverage. In 2014, Michelle Mazzara, CEO of Luvafoodie, decided to follow her dream and started Luvafoodie.  She had worked for large consumer brands companies in sales for the previous twenty-five years.

She began by adding candy and started selling caramel with the Luvafoodie brand at select grocery stores. Consumers categories beyond confections.  In 2016 she introduced a line of gourmet spices under the Luvafoodie brand.  Following the success, she experienced with spices, she added Belgian chocolates and drink mixes to the portfolio.

Unexpectedly, in August 2016, Michelle was diagnosed with heart disease having an 80 % blockage in her left anterior descending artery, LAD.  She had been misdiagnosed with costochondritis for 10 months even though she had complained of chest pain, shortness of breath, had a family history of heart disease and a cholesterol reading of 330.    Unfortunately, during recovery, after placement of the stent, Michelle suffered a heart attack.  “This changed my life and my perspective of what I really wanted to do with the brand and my vision of the company, “Michelle stated.  Because of living with heart disease, in January 2017, Luvafoodie launched a salt free spice line and a new Happy Heart Dark Chocolate Belgian Bar.

Michelle is a Brand Ambassador for the Twin Cities American Heart Association Go Red Women Ad Campaign in Minnesota.  She shares her story in order to build awareness about heart disease among women.  She states, “My mission is to help increase awareness of the prevalence of heart disease and stroke among women in order to inspire other women to take charge of their own health.  Heart disease is the #1 killer of women causing 1 in 3 deaths. My mission is to make a difference in peoples’ lives and help prevent heart disease.”

At the end of June, Michelle launched a new line of spice blends created for dogs and cats. The new spice blends for dogs and cats was inspired by Michelle’s aging dog Lucy. Michelle wanted to boost Lucy’s nutrition and help her feel better. The specific herbs used in the Dog and Cat Lovers spice blends are to help boost a cat or dog’s nutrition as a supplement to their dog and cat food.

Luvafoodie products can be found in local Twin Cities grocery stores and on Luvafoodie.com and Amazon.com. Luvafoodie Salt Free Recipe Cookbook is available in Kindle and hard copy on Amazon.com.

Michelle goal is to continue to expand Luvafoodie spice distribution across the country. Our goal at Luvafoodie is to create clean eating good for your products. Our mission statement is Eat Clean, Be Well & Stay Well.

Interviewing The Legends Guest, Elias Soriano September 18, 2018
Singer/Songwriter/Musician

E   L   I   A   S

S  O  R  I  A  N  O

LEAD SINGER AND SONGWRITER

FOR ALTERNATIVE METAL/HARD ROCK BAND

N O N P O I N T

The unconquerable spirit of NONPOINT charges up the energy in any environment, from the studio to the stage. The stamina, resilience, diversity, massive power and undeniable authenticity of the enduring Active Rock crew makes them kindred spirits to their audience: fans who call upon the band’s tried-and-true anthems to help conquer adversity in their own lives.

Nonpoint emerged as part of the cultural wave of aggressive-streetwise-metal-mixed-with-melodic-force and unapologetic passion that burst from underground clubs onto Ozzfest and MTV in the “aughts.” But even as radio formats shifted and the window dressing aesthetics changed, the sheer intensity balanced with huge catchiness of Nonpoint bangers like “Bullet with a Name,” “Breaking Skin,” “The Truth” and “That Day” kept them relevant and revered.

“Our fans appreciate the variety in what we do and the difference in how we do it,” notes frontman Elias Soriano. “We write songs that have meat on the bones and stick to your ribs.”

Nonpoint has brought their message to the masses on tour with Disturbed, Papa Roach, Stone Sour, 10 Years, and Megadeth, while selling close to 1 million albums in North America. Their juxtaposition of rhythm and melody gets heads bobbing, hands in the air, and crowds singing.

The elite squad of Nonpoint’s contemporaries and peers with both staying power and continued creative progression includes chart-topping, trend-proof survivors like Disturbed, Slipknot, Deftones, and Korn. The Fort Lauderdale-based quintet is undeniably counted among those ranks, to diehard true believers who know what’s up. Case in point: less than 24 months ago, Nonpoint’s “Breaking Skin” was the most-played song on SiriusXM Octane for the entire year.

The Poison Red, the veteran rock band’s driving and ambitious ninth album, offers further testament to what makes Nonpoint such a tough act for other bands to follow on the radio dial, onstage at major festivals like Rock On The Range or Australia’s Soundwave, and in any club blessed with one of the band’s sweaty, crowd moving, exhaustion-proof performances. From their earliest ultra DIY releases, through the trio of major label albums, to their more recent work for the world’s most important indies, the energy and determination remains consistent.

“Generation Idiot” rails against internet tough guys and text-message fairweather friends, emphasizing the power of deeper means of communication and connection, which includes music. It’s one of Nonpoint’s heaviest songs ever. “Divided Conquer Them” imagines what could be achieved with a greater cultural influence on art and quality of life than in the mind-numbing routines of accumulating possessions. “Standing in the Flesh” is a penultimate Nonpoint song, reveling in the transformative, shared experience of band and audience. “El Diablo” rails against the deceivers who promise the world only to deliver pain in business and in life. “My Last Dying Breath” is a fitting closer for The Poison Red, a statement of purpose that all of the sacrifices it’s taken for Nonpoint to make it this far will not be for naught; they are lifers in this music thing.

“I’m trying to empower people and that’s it,” Soriano says with matter-of-fact clarity. “It’s because I’m trying to empower myself. I’m trying to be a better person. I don’t’ want to be a ‘good’ man, I want to be the best man, the best guy that I can be. I want to always get better.”

It’s hard to imagine another band with the courage to tackle Jay-Z’s “99 Problems,” Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean,” and Pantera’s “Five Minutes Alone” in the first place, let alone pull all of them off like Nonpoint. Those reference points loudly attest to the pure skill and impressive range of Soriano (vocals); the groove-oriented rhythmic pulse of his fellow Floridian cofounder Robb Rivera (drums); the decisive and driving heaviness of longtime band mates Rasheed Thomas (guitar) and Adam Woloszyn (bass); the shredding technicality of B.C. Kochmit (guitar); and how they merge together to create the unique and recognizable Nonpoint sound.

Nonpoint operates with the bottom-heavy groove of Sabbath, the audacious danger of The Crue and GN’R, the theatrical bent of Maiden, the in-your-face brutality of Pantera and the urgent explosiveness of Rage Against The Machine. This is music for the millions of people who connect just as passionately with Metallica’s Black Album as the record of the same name by Jay-Z, the same fans that grew up to start increasingly rock radio leaning bands like Bring Me The Horizon.

“Not everybody wants to go see a shrink and not everybody wants to sit around and wallow,” Soriano observes. “Our music can be therapy. It is what helps someone get through something. I attest all of our success to keeping three things important: the music, the show, and the fans.

Nonpoint released two new songs recently …  "Chaos and Earthquakes" and "Dodge Your Destiny."

These songs will appear on the band's new album, titled and pronounced "Ten," out August 24 via Spinefarm Records. The album is the tenth studio release of the band's career.

"Ten - I can already tell is going to become a flagship record for us," said singer Elias Soriano. "Watching people's reactions when we play them the new music tells me that we have created something that is going to move crowds and may even redefine us. It's the year of the X."

Nonpoint recently wrapped their co-headine Kings & Queens Tour with Butcher Babies. The band is currently sorting its next set of tour plans and will spend much of the next year and beyond on the road in support of its last effort.

NONPOINT is ... Elias Soriano (Vocals), Robb Rivera (Drums), Rasheed Thomas (Guitar /Vocals), Adam Woloszyn (Bass), BC Kochmit (Lead Guitar / Vocals)

Words Women and Wisdom Show Guest, Sharon Carne September 18, 2018
Author Speaker Certified Sound Healer

"I find it endlessly fascinating how what we perceive as a failure turns out to have a purpose beyond our imagination. My journey with music started innocently enough with receiving a guitar under the Christmas tree when I was 16. Fortunately there was a teacher close by who taught guitar who sparked an interest in classical guitar within my heart. My guitar was put on the back burner as I left home for university and teaching public school in a tiny town in Northern Ontario. That's when the challenge started..."

Sharon Carne has felt the love of music for most of her life. After falling in love with the Classical guitar in her teens and having earned her Bachelor of Music, and Master of Fine Arts degrees, Sharon joined the faculty of the Conservatory at Mount Royal University in 1988.

Sharon is the author of “Listen From the Inside Out”, has produced 8 CDs including “Transmutation, Shed the Negative”, “Woodland Song”, and “Blissful Chimes”, and a series of DVDs.

Sharon is regularly invited to speak for corporate and private events – many of them based within the medical community. Such as the Integrative Health Institute at Mount Royal University, Canadian Blood Services, Canadian Mental Health Commission, the Alberta Health Region conference on Chronic Disease Management, the Manitoba Health Region, the National Health Work and Wellness conference in Quebec, numerous staff and teacher conferences, countless radio shows, and many corporate and private events.
Life Changes Show Guest, Joseph Peck September 17, 2018
Steel drum musician

JOSEPH PECK

Joseph Peck is a professional steel drum musician with a degree in music education and a focus on world music. He has a unique set of skills, and a drive to inspire young, creative minds.

Joseph received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Wichita State University. He performed with Potential Symphony, an award-winning steel band in Trinidad, for the Panorama National Steel Band Competition. He was a founding member of Babylon Saints – a venerable LA-based pop/rock/reggae band, and has performed and recorded throughout the US in genres such ash reggae, acoustic rock, jazz, and fusion.

His career has taken him around the world, working with Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland, Cyndi Lauper, and Ryan Gosling, among others. His work has aired on VH1, CBS, and NBC, including Parks and Recreation. He was also a contributor in Teaching in the Diverse Classroom: Learner-Centered Activities that Work, a book for educators by Tanya Huber-Bowen.

Joseph’s current project – The Joseph Peck Group – is a Caribbean Jazz ensemble that explores traditional rhythms commingled with contemporary interpretations. His latest album as a solo artist is a relaxing and transcendental journey called Free-Flow Steel Pan Meditation.

While directing the Steel Pan Orchestra at Wichita State University, he founded the Adopt-a-Drum Program. Today, with a State of California Music Education K-12 Credential, he is a program facilitator at the Drumming for Your Life Institute, and a teaching artist at The Music Center and the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center K-12 Arts Education Outreach Program.

Twenty years of experience as a steelpan percussionist and music educator have informed his development of the Joseph Peck World Music Program – an innovative, performance-based class which exposes students to the important cultural and historical contributions of music. Students learn the

building blocks of music (melody, harmony, and rhythm) in a supportive,

creative, and interactive environment using percussion instruments such as steel drums (pans), hand drums, shakers, cowbells, and tamboo-bamboo. Students go on to read, write, practice, play, and perform music from around the world, both on an individual level, as well as with an ensemble.

His Caribbean Drum Circle Program is a music enrichment program that he conducts at Libraries and in schools, teaching students to build community and relate with one another in a drum circle format.

In both of Joseph’s programs, students discover the connection between music and math, science, the language arts, and the natural world. Each program culminates in a concert performance.

Bio

Peter Barry Chowka is a writer, journalist, medical-political analyst, editor, and photographer.

Since the 1970s he has worked in a variety of media (periodicals, radio, television, documentary films, and online) to report on issues and personalities in the fields of national politics, medical policy, the media, popular culture, the environment, and innovative health options.

Peter majored in English at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He got his start in journalism and media at WGTB, a leading non-commercial FM radio station in the nation’s capital that was affiliated with Georgetown. Peter served as news director, music director, and – for two years – station manager. With his fellow students, Peter helped to transform WGTB into the most popular alternative broadcast outlet in the nation’s capital.

In 1972, Peter covered the first of four campaigns for the Presidency, including the primaries, the national political conventions, and the fall general election. He interviewed most of the candidates and as a credentialed journalist in the nation’s capital, Peter attended several Presidential press conferences and other events at the White House. He also volunteered for the insurgent anti-war nominee of the Democratic Party, Sen. George McGovern, producing radio commercials for the McGovern campaign aimed at young voters as he traveled around the country with the candidate.

Peter’s photographs of the 1972 campaign, titled “The Choice of The Century,” were exhibited at galleries in Washington, D.C. and on Martha’s Vineyard.

Peter also reported on the Presidential primaries in 1976, 1980, and 1992. In particular, he documented all three Presidential campaigns of Gov. Jerry Brown (D-CA), and interviewed Brown a number of times for publication. Jerry Brown cited one of Peter’s articles in a cover story profile of Brown written by Richard Reeves and published in Esquire in February 1978.

Later in the 1970s, Peter collaborated closely with pioneering Beat Generation writers Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs, and Pulitzer Prize winner Gary Snyder – exploring their work in a series of published long form interviews, articles, and radio broadcasts, and accompanying Ginsberg on guitar and vocals in a number of high profile public performances. Peter’s 25,000-word interview with Gary Snyder was published in three issues of East West Journal and subsequently served as a core of two of Snyder’s books, The Real Work (New Directions, 1980) and The Gary Snyder Reader (Counterpoint, 1999).

Beginning in 1975, a particular focus of Peter’s journalistic work has been to document the history and evolution of innovative and alternative medicine with an extensive emphasis on the War on Cancer and alternative cancer therapies. His reporting took him to the leading innovative clinical centers around North America. Over the years Peter has interviewed scores of thought leaders in the field, including (more often than any other journalist) two-time Nobel Prize winning scientist, humanitarian, and nutritional therapy proponent Linus Pauling, Ph.D.

Peter broke a number of major stories on cover-ups and abuses of power in the Cancer Establishment and several of his articles were republished in the official hearing transcripts of United States Senate oversight committees.

Peter’s numerous articles in a wide variety of print publications have explored the limitations of conventional medicine, a broad range of innovative treatment options, and the mainstreaming of alternative medicine. His photographs have been published by Time-Life Books and in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone, and many other publications. Peter has been quoted in news articles published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Time magazine, and The Village Voice, among others and his work has been cited in numerous books. Peter has also written several articles for the the peer-reviewed scientific literature.

Over the years, Peter has emerged as one of the most prolific, probing, and respected reporters and commentators in the area of the politics of health care and alternative medicine. His body of work has helped to redefine the role that innovative and alternative therapies play in American life.

Peter has appeared as an expert guest on hundreds of radio and TV talk shows all over North America, many of them at the national network level, including NBC-TV, PBS, the ABC TalkRadio Network, and CBC Television in Canada, and in major film and television documentaries. He has engaged in many broadcast debates with leading medical doctors on the subjects of cancer and AIDS. Along the way Peter has worked with Tom Snyder, Michael Reagan, Geraldo Rivera, Tom Leykis, and George Noory as well as a number of Canadian media luminaries including Pierre Berton, Hana Gartner, and Dr. Morton Shulman. He has also spoken at scores of health and medical conferences around the U.S. and Canada.

Peter is the subject of a chapter in Prof. David J. Hess, Ph.D.’s 1999 book Evaluating Alternative Cancer Therapies: A Guide to the Science and Politics of an Emerging Medical Field, published by Rutgers University Press. In 1999, Peter wrote actress Jane Seymour’s on-camera narration for the award winning thirteen-part PBS series Healthy Living.

Peter was a consultant to the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Nutrition, co-chaired by Sens. Bob Dole and George McGovern in the 1970s. From 1985-1990, he was an advisor to the U.S. Congress’s Office of Technology Assessment which was investigating a variety of alternative cancer therapies. In 1992 Peter was appointed to two of the first advisory panels of the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) new Office of Alternative Medicine including one devoted to alternative medicine databases and electronic information dissemination – anticipating the imminent, widespread adoption of the Internet. His contributions are included in the NIH’s 1994 publication, Alternative Medicine: Expanding Medical Horizons.

Peter is particularly well known for his investigative reporting into the Hoxsey Therapy. Starting in 1980, Peter’s articles and radio broadcasts about Hoxsey, a prominent example of herbal medicine, helped to establish it as a leading, credible alternative cancer therapy. Peter appears prominently on camera throughout the documentary feature film Hoxsey: How Healing Becomes a Crime, a.k.a. Hoxsey: Quacks Who Cure Cancer?, which was originally inspired by his articles. Peter’s efforts have been instrumental in helping to bring the promising Hoxsey herbal treatment to the attention of the public, mainstream medicine, and policy makers.

Since 1992, Peter has been investigating the political push for “universal health care” which he sees as one of the most serious threats to Americans’ freedom since the time of the Founding Fathers. Recent proposals for single payer government-run medicine, in Peter’s view, pose an increase in the imminent threat level to Americans’ freedom of choice and to the future of alternative, natural health care.

In 2007, the popular political Web site American Thinker began publishing Peter’s articles on medical policy, national politics, and the media. In the years since then, Peter has written a number of articles and blog items about a wide range of subjects for American Thinker. Peter broke several major political stories that went viral and were picked up by the mainstream media. An archive of Peter’s articles for American Thinker may be accessed here.

In 2015, Peter established his latest Web site, thehealers.info, where he will present his articles, interviews, and other primary source material documenting the many healers he has reported on over the years, starting with Nicholas Gonzalez, M.D. (1947-2015). In 2016, a new book about Dr. Gonzalez, The Gonzalez Protocol, includes two chapters written by Peter. The July/August 2016 issue of the peer-reviewed Medline-indexed medical journal Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine published Peter’s article “Reporting on Dr. Gonzalez for a Quarter Century: A Memoir.” The article can be read here.

Peter’s most recent articles for American Thinker about the cable news wars, the history and future of the Fox News channel, and other topics in the news have received wide attention. This ongoing series can be accessed at Peter’s archived articles page at American Thinker.

In August 2017, Peter established his Twitter account @pchowka. Peter's tweets have been retweeted by Fox News hosts Sean Hannity and Charles V. Payne, radio talk show host and New York Times best selling author Mark Levin, and President Donald J. Trump. A mid-2016 bio of Peter with photographs and links to primary sources can be accessed here.

Lets Find Out Guest, Judy Carroll September 16, 2018
Author, Lifelong Contactee, Telepath, Galactic Messenger, Teacher

Judy Carroll was born in Queensland, AU, in 1952. Her family background is Creole, English, and Romany (Gypsy). She left school to become a professional Flamenco dancer, following in the footsteps of her grandmother, who was a dancer and clairvoyant medium in the Romany tradition. Judy feels that this background helped her to assimilate the encounters she's had with Grey ETs since early childhood. Sixty years of these ongoing and at times fully conscious encounters has given her a deep insight into this phenomenon that is happening to many thousands of people world-wide.

The ET Visitors advised her to meditate so as to facilitate easier telepathic communication, and to study Tai Chi and natural healing. In 2011, Judy attended a meeting on an ET ship that involved a discussion on the past and present situation on Earth, including the hijacking of the planet many millennia ago. In light of this, she wrote a book on the ET history of Earth, the hijacking of the planet by a rebel force and the subsequent manipulation of scriptural accounts of events that took place in the distant past.

She has written three books; Human by day, Zeta by Night, the Zeta Message, and her new book which is just out, The Extraterrestrial Message.
