Interviewing The Legends Guest, Leo Lyons January 15, 2019
bass guitarist, songwriter and record producer

SONGWRITER-PRODUCER

LEGENDARY BASSIST

WITH

TEN YEARS AFTER

Born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire in November 1943, Leo became a professional musician at the age of 16 and as a founder member of the band Ten Years After has been an on-stage eyewitness to some of the most pivotal moments in Rock and Roll history.

In 1962 with his band The Jaybirds along with guitarist Alvin Lee he performed at The Star Club, Hamburg, Germany where only a week earlier The Beatles had polished up their act. Leo was hired to play in the club's house band with Tony Sheridan and yet still found time to guest at the Top Ten Club with guitarist Albert Lee. Like The Beatles, The Jaybirds returned home to England, made the move from their hometown to London and secured their first recording contract with legendary record producer Joe Meek.

From 1963 to 1966, as well as playing and managing The Jaybirds, Leo worked as a session musician, toured as a sideman with pop acts of the day, appeared in a play in London's West End and played a residency with poll winning British Jazz Guitarist Denny Wright.

In 1967 with a name change to Ten Years After, a residency at London's famous Marquee Club and a debut album out on Deram Records, the band were soon to build up a huge following in Europe. Fillmore West and Fillmore East founder Bill Graham heard a copy of the band's first album and immediately sent a letter offering to book Ten Years After into his historic venues in San Francisco and New York. They were also one of the first rock groups to be part of the Newport Jazz Festival. At Newport and on tour TYA performed with Nina Simone, Roland Kirk, Miles Davis and other jazz legends barnstorming across the US.

In August of the same year their now legendary encore " I'm Goin' Home" was captured on film at The Woodstock Music and Arts Festival, exposing their jazz blues rock amalgam to an even larger audience of movie goers who were blown away by the intensity of the band's performance when the academy award winning documentary was released. Their ten-minute appearance in the film is an acknowledged highlight and established Ten Years After a place in rock history. The band's albums are still available, and all have reached Gold or Platinum status.

Leo has produced records for UFO, Magnum, Waysted, Procol Harum, Frankie Miller, Richard and Linda Thompson, Brigitte St John, John Martin, Kevin Coyne, Sassafras, MotorHead, Hatfield and The North, The Bogie Boys, The Winkies, Chris Farlowe, Chevy and many more.

In 2003 Ten Years After reformed yet again, this time with new guitarist singer Joe Gooch replacing Alvin Lee, and for the past seven years, aside from writing and producing, Leo has recorded three CD's and toured the world with Ten Years After.

Leo's not the kind of person who lets the grass grow under his feet and in the Summer of 2010 together with TYA guitarist Joe Gooch he formed 'Hundred Seventy Split'; a new, exciting, high energy Blues/Rock power trio showcasing their combined talents. The pair initially formed a song-writing partnership to write for TYA and have continued writing together ever since. The result was their debut CD 'The World Won't Stop' . . .

Leo and Joe resigned from Ten Years After at the end of 2013 and to celebrate a new beginning Hundred Seventy Split released a new CD, simply titled, HSS, followed by The Road, two years later.

Their live shows have already proved popular with TYA fans. HSS play TYA classics alongside new material in their shows.

'Hundred Seventy Split' was formed to play music that rocks outside of the TYA box.

Life Changes Show Guest, Colin James Martin January 14, 2019
Guitarist, Singer and Songwriter

Colin Martin began his musical journey as a child and has studied the craft with numerous wisdom carriers throughout his decades here on earth.  Sometimes humble to the point of reclusiveness, Colin is devoted to the maintenance of music in our human experience.  His primary philosophy around the art is that sound vibration and the infinite availability of it for creative expression, healing, and the transmission of information are as much a part of our foundation to life as water, air, earth, and energy.

As a writer, CJM is a true smith of words, cranking out song lyrics and prose on the daily that speak to countless corners of our humanity and inspire curiosity toward our purpose in relationship to each other and the planet on which we live. Grown in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and educated at The Ohio State University School of Music, Colin currently resides in California where he collaborates on creative projects with a variety of amazing people.

The Story Doesn't Have A Beginning…..

….as we experience the middle parts, we see that open doorways let us embrace the illusion of a new beginning……and that helps to make life fun.  Over and over again.  So open the door and BEGIN!

My name is Colin.  I sometimes feel the need to BE AMAZING in life.  My head and my heart whisper things to me like “you can do anything you put your mind to” and “follow your dreams and never give up.”  And when I let my dreams form in my consciousness, they include music and community, family and compassion, Mother Earth and healthy people.  I grew up in the east of the United States near the Pennsylvania/Ohio/West Virginia area.  I’ve been with music my whole life and even chose to study it in university to further my understanding.  I have traveled the world through North and South America, Europe and Asia, always with a guitar on my shoulder or a saxophone slung around my neck.

The journey has always been good to me and continues even on this day.  The consistent mystery of life tosses me into the wildest experiences.  Through those experiences I learn so many cool things that make me more prepared for this NOW MOMENT!  What am I doing now?  That’s what is important.

Well I can tell you this, I am singing in my heart and paying attention to the world around me.  I have the responsibility to be amazing with my life.  Shining gratitude on all the wonderful blessings shown to me: my inclination toward music, my loving and patient family, my relationships, friends, collaborators, teachers, my girlfriend, my health and happiness and my ability to create and nurture those things every moment, is a practice every day.

The Veterans News Hour Guest, Mike Partain January 14, 2019
Co-founder and spokesman, "The Few, The Proud, The Forgotten"

I am Mike Partain, a co-founder and public spokesman for an organization called "The Few, The Proud, the Forgotten."  From 1953 until 1987, the base water supply for Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, was highly contaminated with industrial chemicals. For the past decade I have served as a community representative to the estimated one million Sailors, Marines and their families potentially affected by the Camp Lejeune contamination. I have testified twice in Congress and I am recognized as an expert on those issues.  I was invited as a special guest to the White House in 2012, for the signing of the Janey Ensminger Act into law. Lets Find Out Guest, Sharon Lynn Wyeth January 13, 2019
Founder and Creator of Neimology® Science, Author and Speaker

Sharón graduated from the University of Redlands with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics at the age of twenty. She began teaching that same year in a public Junior High School in California. During her three years there, she obtained her Master of Arts degree from Azusa-Pacific University in education administration with an emphasis in math.

Sharón initially taught in California before moving to Germany where she taught for the Department of Defense Schools. She continued to move around as she married an Air Force soldier. She was fortunate to always find a teaching job in each location. After Germany came Texas, and then Japan. Eventually she would also teach in New Mexico, Nebraska, Washington state and China, besides being a high school administrator in both Texas and Oregon. She retired as a high school principal in 2002, only to come out of retirement in January 2008 to become involved in schools for an additional two and a half years.

It was during her time in the schools that she linked the patterns in names to a person’s mindset or personality. She worked on figuring out the patterns of the different letters for fifteen years before she fully comprehended all of the nuances. Sharón took the opportunity to travel a large part of the world testing her theories for the first three years after leaving the education field. Many people requested that she write a book so that they could learn what she had realized about names.

It was during this time that she wrote "Know the Name; Know the Person", with the first edition being published in December 2006. The second edition, published in May 2010, added chapters on mnemonic devices to help people remember the patterns explained in the book and also how to compare two names. She is currently working on the third edition. She is also is working on her second book which combines story telling with logic to challenge people to think again about some commonly accepted beliefs that may no longer be serving us. Since the publication of her book, she focuses her time writing, traveling and sharing Neimology with others, and researching her theories.

BOOK REVIEW:

Profoundly valuable and highly recommended.

This book posits the science of "Neimology, the study of names" and is ground-breaking, of potentially historic importance, and it affords broad-spectrum practical application. The empirical research and experience behind it has substantial credibility.

The notion behind the research and this book is that a person's oft-repeated name is initially inspired, releasing a resonance and predictable potential within the person's life expression. The author systematizes how people with names bearing the same initial vowel, initial letter, last letter and middle letters show consistent tendencies. Hence, the resonance of the name demonstrates correlated patterns of conduct due to the structure of the name. This observation is consistent with the ancient knowledge of most cultures' approach to naming children, where the given name "says it all." Offering this as a framework for decoding, she does not, for example, clam that every "John" will be the same, but that every "John" will share certain traits. Her system explains how and why these traits will be distinct from those shared by persons named Jemal, or James, or Jim. The resulting correlations are nuanced and valuable. Socially, this book can help make interaction with friends and strangers alike far more effortless and productive.

Unlike common "cookbook" approaches that merely share the meanings of names, the Wyeth system explores the personality traits associated to vowels and consonants, with interpretive weight given to their placement in the name. She enriches the reader with a systematic exploration and many illustrations. The reader is thus equipped with an interpretive framework applicable to any name. She tested the work in many countries who use the English Alphabet and found consistent results with only minor adaptations. This is significant. In addition she addresses nicknames, changed names, and other permutations involved in naming. In sum, rather than providing a fish to the hungry, she has provided a hook and bait so the hungry can catch fish and eat for a lifetime.

Cymatics, the study of the physical impacts of sound, demonstrates that sounds create visible geometries. Medical research has proven that cell structures, neurological systems, and the body generally does respond directly to sound. It shows that repetition of sounds can create or ameliorate disease. Making a connection between behavior associated to the oft-heard name and cellular responses proven in hard science is not an untenable leap.

Neimology offers a wealth of very useful applications for anyone who seeks to gain a sense of what lies beneath the surface in other people. The range of applications is broad-spectrum. Among readers who could benefit from Neimology are people in business, sales, counseling, politics, ministry, education, military leadership, and anyone seeking to refine simple interaction among other people in any capacity.
