DC for Statehood had a very exciting week and we will share what all the excitement is about! Also, Maria attended a conference at the United Nations entitled, "Reaching Higher Standards of Health and Well-Being through Cultural Engagement, Empowerment & Inclusion." She attended this because one of the presenters is an Ambassador from the country of Sierra Leone. UNICEF reports that this country has a 90% compliance rate with Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and this is the topic of Maria's dissertation for her Ph.D. in Media Psychology.
