Messages Beyond the Veil: Mediumship, Signs, Free Will, Past Lives, and the Nature of the Afterlife

Summary

Receiving Signs and Messages from Loved Ones
The episode opens with a discussion of how people may seek communication from loved ones who have died. The panel recommends approaching reputable mediums while remaining open to whoever may come through rather than insisting on one particular person. They also suggest recording readings because emotionally intense sessions can make details difficult to absorb in the moment. Meditation, quiet breathing, intention, and simple practices such as using a pendulum are discussed as ways to become more receptive. The speakers repeatedly emphasize what they describe as a personal “knowing” that accompanies a meaningful sign. Their advice is presented as their experience and belief about spirit communication rather than as an independently established conclusion.

Mediumship, Evidence, and the Limits of Summoning
Caller Tanya asks how to know whether a perceived sign is genuine and whether a psychic or medium can improve the chances of hearing from a particular person. The panel says a one-on-one session with a skilled medium may provide evidential details that the sitter recognizes. They also explain their belief that a medium cannot simply summon a particular deceased person on command because the communication is driven by the spirit and depends on what they describe as compatible frequency or vibration. The Forever Family Foundation’s medium-certification process and waiting lists are discussed, including the suggestion that callers may place themselves on several wait lists. Phone and Zoom readings are described as viable alternatives to in-person sessions. The discussion stresses patience, openness, and the possibility that someone other than the hoped-for loved one may communicate.

Group Readings, Meditation, and Altered States
The panel compares one-on-one readings with group mediumship sessions and discusses what listeners can take from each. Melissa encourages people in group readings to listen not only for messages directed to them but also for meaningful information received by others. Bob describes “piggybacking,” in which a detail given during another person’s reading may also seem relevant to someone else in the room. The speakers portray mediumship as a process in which many impressions may be present at once and must be sorted out by the medium. Meditation and quieting the mind return as a central theme, with Marta describing an intense experience of oneness that she found life-changing. Nature is presented as an especially helpful setting for her own sense of calm and connection.

Free Will, Thought, and the Nature of the Afterlife
A listener question about Bob’s book The Medium Explosion leads into an extended discussion of free will after death. The panel argues that free will in a nonphysical realm would operate differently because, in their view, greed, possessions, ego, and ordinary physical competition would no longer function in the same way. They discuss communication as mind-to-mind or telepathic and suggest that thoughts would be more transparent than they are in physical life. The speakers also explore the idea of differing levels of spiritual development and whether people with harmful or maladaptive attitudes would be less able to communicate from an elevated state. These ideas are framed as beliefs, interpretations, and personal theories expressed by the speakers. The conversation repeatedly acknowledges that human language may be inadequate to describe what they regard as a nonphysical realm.

How to Approach a Mediumship Reading and Why Past Lives May Be Forgotten
The panel gives practical advice about how much information a sitter should provide during a mediumship reading. They recommend answering simply, validating what is understood, and asking the medium to provide more detail rather than volunteering facts that could shape the reading. Bob suggests questions such as “What else can you tell me?” as a way to preserve the evidential value of the session. The discussion then turns to why people generally do not remember past lives. The speakers speculate that forgetting may be part of the design of physical life, allowing people to experience uncertainty, growth, learning, and the feeling of being separate. They compare life to an exam in which already knowing the answers would undermine the experience.

Love, Identity, Reality, and the Closing Peace Prayer
The final portion of the episode explores whether people fall in love after death, how multiple spouses might relate in the afterlife, and whether love becomes broader and less possessive. Marta shares a dream after her husband’s death in which she experienced an overwhelming sense of light, joy, care, and reassurance. The group also discusses houses, food, telepathic privacy, personal facades, and the possibility that familiar physical preferences could be mentally manifested in a nonphysical realm. Marta offers an “epiphany” that the physical world may be temporary while consciousness and the unseen world are more enduring, leading to playful speculation about whether ordinary life is itself a kind of dream. The episode closes with Bob’s global peace prayer calling for love, forgiveness, kindness, care for other people, and care for the Earth.

Speaker 6 - Announcer / Prerecorded Intro Voice:
Welcome to Signs of Life: Exploring Survival of Consciousness, brought to you by Forever Family Foundation on the web at foreverfamilyfoundation.org.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Welcome to The Gathering on Signs of Life Radio. I’m Bob Ginsburg. If you’re watching at home, you can see Tom and Melissa, but I’ve got a camera problem, so you won’t see me.

Welcome to the show. This is the show where we address questions that you can call in and ask, or that you email to us. We appreciate your call if you want to call us and talk. The number here is 888-627-6008.

A couple of quick announcements. We’re almost at capacity for our psychic and mediumship development convention in California in October, but there are still some spots. So you can reserve your spot, but I would do it quickly.

We also have our regular winter grief retreat in Florida, so it’s not really winter. That’s in January, and you can reserve your spot now by visiting the website at foreverfamilyfoundation.org.

Lastly, we haven’t put it up yet, but we will be having our regular retreat in Florida in April, which is for parents only. So there will be two retreats: one in January and one in April. The April one is for parents only. The January one will be for people who have suffered all types of losses.

And with that, how are you guys doing?

Speaker 2 - Tom:
We’re back in the hotel room in Vermont, just dealing with what my friend used to call “meshugas,” whatever that means.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
What does that mean?

Speaker 2 - Tom:
Meshugas. Craziness.

Speaker 3 - Melissa:
Yeah, craziness. I don’t know how to spell it, but that’s the right word.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
So we have some questions. And as I mentioned, if you want to join in, just give us a call at 888-627-6008.

Here is the first question that came in. It’s something that gets asked often: “I’d love to receive messages from a loved one who has passed. How can I receive messages that I know are genuine and from my loved one? How do I prepare? How do I know it’s my loved one communicating with me?”

Speaker 2 - Tom:
Oh, boy. The best way is to see a reputable medium, because what they will do is start you off with evidence - things that the spirit will tell them that only you would know about. When you get two or three of these messages, there’s no doubt in your mind that it’s coming from your loved one, because nobody else would have possibly known what they’re saying.

So that’s the best way. How do you prepare for it? The best thing you can do is communicate. We’re all talking about, “How do I communicate with my loved ones?” But really what you’re saying is, “How do I listen to what my loved ones are communicating?”

To communicate with them, just talk to them. They hear what you’re saying. It’s that you can’t hear what they’re responding. So if you’re going to a medium, or some situation where you may get a reading, be sure to invite them along and say, “I’m going to somebody who will understand what you’re saying. If you want to talk to me, talk to them and they’ll let me know.”

Keeping an open mind is very important. And most important - and I’ve been guilty of this as well - don’t go in with preconceived expectations of who you’re going to hear from. Sometimes you will hear from a spirit you had no idea would come through for you: a grandfather, an uncle, a brother, even a friend of a friend. You can be so focused on the one person you want to hear from that you discount that.

Furthermore, record your session. Most phones have a little voice recorder. Put that on and record it. A lot of times, when you’re actually in a situation where you understand that spirit is communicating with you, it’s a mind-altering experience. You may be disoriented by the whole process. If you record it and then, a week or two later, go back and relisten to it, you will hear things that didn’t register at the time. Then you’ll go, “Oh, that makes sense now.”

So those are my big tips: record what you’re doing, keep an open mind, and invite your loved ones to come talk to you.

Speaker 3 - Melissa:
I’d like to interject that sometimes it takes a long time to get a session with a skilled medium. Those associated with the Forever Family Foundation can have long waiting lists.

In the meantime, I would suggest practicing meditation. It doesn’t have to be a big-deal meditation where you think, “Oh, that word, meditation.” No. It’s just quieting your mind and being ready to receive by breathing and focusing on your breathing, perhaps for five minutes a day.

At the same time, put that intention out there: “I really want to communicate with my loved ones.” They can always hear you. You can’t always hear them. So if you take that time and put yourself in the right mindset to receive, just be quiet, listen, and trust what comes to you.

You could go a step further. I’ve often used a pendulum. I could take off my necklace right now and hang it from the end of the pendant. First, start by asking yes-or-no questions that you know the answer to, like, “Is today Thursday? Am I at home?” Determine what your yes is and what your no is.

Then ask questions: “Is my loved one with me? Does my loved one know what I’m doing?” Get more specific if you care to. I don’t want you to take it so seriously that you ask some big, important, life-altering question like, “Should I move? Should I sell my house? Should I change jobs?” Not like that. Just simple questions about whether your loved one is with you.

When you get comfortable with that process, you’ll get more comfortable with receiving input from your loved one. It won’t have to be from using things like a pendulum. It can become just a knowing. It will just come to you.

And as Tom mentioned, through a medium - oh my goodness - if somebody else can tell you something that really hits home, that’s super validating. It’s like, “Wow, that must really be real.”

But until you get that appointment with a trusted medium, just trust yourself and try to focus on your loved ones, because we know they’re always around you when they want to be there to help you. Say their names. Talk about them. Share stories about them. I think they’ll reciprocate, but you just have to become open to receive.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Okay. Maybe Marta has something to add. I see that Marta has joined us. Hi.

Speaker 4 - Marta:
Yes. I think being calm is really, really, really important. I work at it, and I have to work hard at it. I try.

I talk to my mother and father a lot. I can ask them any kind of question. I never know whether an answer is from them, but maybe the two meet, as you say.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Let’s take a call from Tanya from California. Hello, Tanya.

Speaker 5 - Tanya:
Hi.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Hi.

Speaker 5 - Tanya:
I just want to know, as a person, how do you know if it’s a sign? I feel like I’ve gotten signs from my mom, but there’s one person I don’t feel it from at all. I don’t know if that person is around. It’s someone very big in my life, or someone who was very big in my life.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Sometimes we don’t always hear from the person we would like to hear from. That doesn’t mean they don’t want to communicate. It just means the process is not working for whatever reason. Your frequencies may not have matched. But they’ll keep trying, because I’m sure they want to get in touch with you.

How do you know when you get a communication? We always say that true communications are attached to a knowing. In other words, as you get the sign or the communication, there’s something in your body or your mind that just pops, and you just know without a doubt. When you get that, that’s your personal proof that you’re getting a communication.

When you don’t get that, I understand that you question yourself: “Is it me? Is it wishful thinking? Is it real?”

As Tom and Melissa were mentioning before, just keep trying to get into that altered state of consciousness by whatever means you can, whether it be listening to music, looking at art, walking in nature, meditation, or anything that kind of gets you out of your conscious chatter and your mind. A lot of people tend to get a little disappointed because they haven’t heard from the person they want, and then one day it happens. So just be patient.

Speaker 5 - Tanya:
Yeah. I know there’s some talk of readings with a psychic or medium. Are the odds better? Can they summon them or whatnot?

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
No. Of course your odds are much better because they do this for their livelihood and profession. That’s their skill. If you get a one-on-one session with a medium, the odds are very strong that your loved one will come through.

On the Forever Family Foundation website, we have a list of mediums that we’ve certified over the past 21 years.

Speaker 5 - Tanya:
Yeah, I looked at that.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Any one of those mediums gives you a really strong chance of getting an evidential reading.

Speaker 3 - Melissa:
I might want to add that it’s true that a lot of the mediums on the list have very long waiting lists, but we’ve been fortunate that four or five mediums gained certification over the past year, and their waiting lists are not terribly long.

Only about 10 percent of the mediums who go through our process actually gain certification. About 90 percent don’t. So it’s very difficult. Nobody is going to gain our certification without having very, very strong mediumship ability.

Tanya, I’d like to add that I don’t think it would hurt at all, because a long wait list can be a little discouraging. Get on all of the wait lists. You can always back out. Maybe whoever your spirit feels most connected to will be the one who comes through for you. Don’t hesitate to do that.

And Tom is always reminding people that you don’t have to meet with a medium in person. A phone call can be just as good. A lot of mediums prefer phone readings, or even Zoom, as we’re doing now. The location doesn’t matter.

Speaker 2 - Tom:
One other thing that has come up a couple of times already in the show is the idea of summoning them. A medium cannot do that, just as we cannot say, “Show up here tomorrow at five o’clock and let’s converse.” It doesn’t work that way.

The one driving every reading is the spirit - himself or herself. They’re the ones reaching out. Again, there are a lot of variables. It’s all about frequency and vibration. The spirit has to be able to lower their vibration, and the medium raises their vibration to a place where they can connect.

Think about a radio. If you’re listening to a public radio station down in the 90s, you can hear it fine, but maybe one of the commercial stations up in the 100s you can’t hear. It has to match. There are a lot of variables when it comes to getting a reading.

That’s why, if you go to a medium, be open to whoever comes through. Sometimes the person you want to come through hasn’t learned how to bring their vibration down to communicate yet, while somebody else has learned that and comes through with a message for you.

When you go to a medium and say, “I want to speak to this person,” the medium can put out feelers for that, but they cannot make it happen. It has to happen through the spirit.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Thank you for calling, Tanya. We wish you success in communicating. Take care.

In case you’re wondering, I’m having a bad hair day, so I didn’t turn the camera on. I’m only kidding. I have some sort of computer glitch and my camera won’t work.

Speaker 2 - Tom:
It’s AI. He’s got AI in his computer. The computer saw the image and went, “Oh, no way we’re putting this out.”

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
I know. It’s amazing what AI can do, right?

All right. Alan had the next question. He said, “While meditating or praying, I occasionally feel an overwhelming sense of presence or oneness with everything. It’s a rare experience. It seems to clearly transcend emotions and hormones. When a medium makes contact with someone in spirit, what does it feel like? Is there an unusually strong sense of oneness with that deceased person specifically?”

What I would say is that those extraordinary moments, and a feeling of oneness with everything, are different from the way mediums operate. Mediums don’t describe that broader universal connection. What they describe is blending with the person in spirit. So they may feel a sense of oneness with the person they’re communicating with, but not in that broader sense of universal connection. Would you agree with that?

Speaker 3 - Melissa:
I like that. I never really gave that a lot of thought, but I know when I feel like my loved ones are near, it is kind of a blend. It’s that knowing. What would you say, Tom, about the medium?

Speaker 2 - Tom:
The mediums I’ve seen talk about feeling the emotions when they come through. So there is a sense of that to some extent.

What I picked up on is what Marta was saying earlier about calming your brain. Alan mentioned that he was meditating. He was calming his brain, and that’s when that feeling came through to him. So that’s a theme that should definitely be encouraged.

Speaker 3 - Melissa:
Something else came across my mind that isn’t necessarily addressing what Alan asked, but it goes back to Tanya, perhaps.

Bob, I’ve often felt at some of our grief retreats, when we have folks in a large group setting - and our large group settings aren’t all that large - we make sure our attendees have smaller sessions with each medium, and then we also offer a large-group meeting a couple of times throughout the retreat.

If you’ve never had your own personal one-on-one session with a medium, I’d really like folks to experience that first rather than go into a large group with your expectations super high.

It may be easier to find a group mediumship session that you can attend quickly rather than wait on a personal one-on-one wait list. If you do that, listen to the messages everybody receives. First of all, it validates, “Yeah, our loved ones really do exist.”

Often, the fact that you even joined something like this - I truly believe - has something to do with the spirits’ intention of having you show up that night. There are like-minded spirits you could resonate with, or messages that you can relate to.

So if you find yourself in one of those situations where you’ve decided to attend a large group reading because that’s perhaps what’s most readily available to you, do that. But keep an open mind. Don’t just listen to what’s directed at you, which hopefully will happen. Listen to what comes through for everyone, because I really think something is being orchestrated in that spirit realm to have you show up that night. What made you show up on this night, and what made them all show up on this night?

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
You might be sitting in a room with 100 people, and the medium starts saying, “I’ve got this person who did this, this, and this.” You hear something and think, “Oh, that’s my loved one,” but then the other things don’t match. Eventually the medium goes to somebody else and starts reading them, but you heard something that applies to you. That’s what’s called piggybacking.

We have a medium who does a great thing when he’s asked about this in a group setting. He says, “Right now, when I count to three, everybody tell me something about your loved one.” He goes, “One, two, three,” and then the whole room erupts in voices. He says, “Welcome to my world,” because that’s what a medium hears when they’re trying to do a reading.

All of these spirits - everybody in the room has a spirit trying to come through. You get a jumble, and it takes the medium a little time to isolate exactly who they’re speaking to. So they will pick up messages from other people that may apply to you.

The other thing I’ve noticed in these readings is that if the person right next to you is getting a reading where the medium is coming through with information that is incredibly impossible to guess at, and it’s so on the money, even though you’re not getting that reading, being in the presence of it should hopefully give you the sense that, “Yeah, this is real. This stuff really happens.”

Just because your loved one hasn’t learned how to come through yet, or maybe they’re not on the same wavelength as the medium, doesn’t mean they’re not there or that they’re not there with you. There are a lot of variables. Hopefully you can get some comfort that way.

I’m a very poor meditator. I was thinking about it because I envy Marta. I’ve been in situations with her, usually in an outdoor nature setting, where she closes her eyes and she goes into a different world. I could shoot myself and she wouldn’t even notice.

There are people who can get into that zone, as we call it, and that’s why you’ve had a lot of these nonphysical experiences. Don’t you find that?

Speaker 4 - Marta:
I do. Our gentleman caller was talking earlier about getting into a certain zone, and there’s a feeling of oneness.

I remember the first time that happened to me. I broke down and sobbed because it was so incredibly important to me. It was an opening in my life that I had not felt before. It’s one of those mountains you hope to climb and finally get to the top. It was really extraordinary and life-changing.

Especially in nature - because nature is where, to me, I communicate best with my surroundings and feel that I’m safe - I can sort of get rid of all the other stuff, the junk that’s going on throughout my head, and separate from it.

Speaker 3 - Melissa:
I love that, Marta. I do. I relate to that as well.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
I have a question here. Somebody writes, “I’m reading your book right now, The Medium Explosion. In it, a sentence which stopped me in my tracks read, ‘We must keep in mind that those no longer embodied also have free will and thus the ability to help alter the course of direction in our physical lives.’”

I’m surprised when I read it, because I never remember anything that I wrote, and I don’t remember writing it.

Then the question goes on: “It seems the problem on this side stems from free will. We abuse and misuse this powerful gift. I don’t want to believe there is potential for corruption on the other side. So the struggles continue eternally? Sounds exhausting. My comments aside, would you expound upon this subject? What is known about free will on the other side? Are there any checks and balances there? We see how the embodied handle free will here. What guarantees the disembodied will not misuse their free will there? Fascinating and challenging to think about.”

Speaker 2 - Tom:
I understand the comments, but we can’t think about this in human terms. In the nonphysical world, the same laws don’t apply.

Here, the reason there are so many problems is because our free will is based on greed, ego, desire for power, and so forth. In the next realm, where you’re just an entity of thought without physical belongings, these things don’t exist. You’re not going to make decisions or exercise your free will based on things that don’t exist.

So free will is very different in the realm to come. I think they have free will because they can do whatever they want, but their perspective is much different. Their actions are taken based upon the greater good, love, empathy, compassion, and the desire to help others, including us and their loved ones still in physical form. Am I making any sense?

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Yeah. And what you said about the other side - that we are entities of pure thought, that we don’t communicate with words and that sort of thing, but communicate mind to mind - means there’s really no place to hide. You can’t con anybody because the truth is in your thoughts. So there really isn’t the same opportunity for corruption on the other side.

Speaker 3 - Melissa:
Right. When you first started speaking, Tom, I was thinking that those with those kinds of maladaptive thoughts wouldn’t have elevated to the level to be in communication with us anyway.

I feel that if people who have done misdeeds pass, they end up at a lower level. I don’t necessarily subscribe to a heaven and a hell, except perhaps one that a person has created for themselves. But I feel like there are levels of elevation.

So I do agree with you, because if you’ve reached that level of elevation, you’re not going to have those negative, lower thoughts, because you wouldn’t have reached the level to even communicate those. That’s my take on it.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Another question: “How do I know if I’m giving a medium too much information?”

Speaker 2 - Tom:
If you’ve ever been involved in any legal proceeding, your attorney will say to you, “Don’t volunteer information. Just keep it simple and answer the question directly.” I think the same thing holds true in a medium reading.

By all means, you have to validate: “Yes, I understand.” “No, I don’t understand.” “I’m not sure.” Or, “Can you tell me more?”

I was observing a reading this past week. The medium would say to the sitter, “I’m getting an M name,” and then mention about five different M names - Michael, Michelle, and so forth. Then the sitter said, “Well, I know a Michelle.” The medium said, “Who is Michelle? What do you know? What does she do?”

The sitter felt coerced into telling the medium what side of the family she was on, who she was exactly, and so forth. That’s what you shouldn’t do. Don’t elaborate. Just say, “Yes, I understand,” or, “No, I don’t.”

It’s easy to say; sometimes it’s hard to do. But if you want to make sure the reading is evidential and you don’t want to have any questions, just give the medium yes-or-no-type answers. Bob, what would you suggest if the sitter is in that position?

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Turn it around with another question: “What else can you tell me?” or “Tell me more,” rather than explaining the situation.

Say, “What else? Tell me more.” Then they can tell you. If they hit on something specific, then you can say, “Oh, that’s definitely Michelle.”

Some sitters are very good at that because, as you well know, sometimes in a medium reading multiple people are coming through. One thing applies to one person; one thing applies to another person; and the sitter is kind of lost trying to figure out who they’re talking about.

In a lot of cases, the sitter will say, “Well, it could be a lot of people. Can you tell me more so we can identify who that is?” That would be a proper response. You didn’t divulge any information, and it’s the medium’s cue to go back to spirit and get that information.

Speaker 2 - Tom:
There are two levels here. On one level, yes: if you don’t know the medium, if you’re going for the first time, or you’re in a group situation, absolutely stick to yes or no: “Yes, I understand that.” “No, I don’t understand that.”

On the other hand, I know some mediums whom I know are genuine and who are right on the money. To me, a reading with them can become more of a conversation. You can speak more and say, “Oh yes, that reminds me of a time,” and that can spur more information.

But that’s down the road. When you get hold of a medium you know is genuine, you can be a little more open. You don’t have to be quite as guarded.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
The next question was, “Why don’t we remember past lives?”

Most of the time, we don’t. Sometimes children remember them up until a certain age, like five or six, and then they don’t remember.

I think there’s a reason for it. It’s part of the design. Someone once said that we come to the physical world to experience abandonment. That sounds a little nuts, but what they really mean is that we have to believe the illusion that we’re alone in order to be able to experience the full range of human experience.

If you know that you’re connected, if you know that you’re part of a greater force, you’re not going to get the same experiences that you would have thinking that you’re alone. This may be the only time in our continuum of life where we can experience all these things and have some significant learning.

Speaker 2 - Tom:
When you educate yourself, it’s a growth process. You grow from the education. I’ve heard it many times that we’re here in the physical plane as a learning experience so that our soul can grow.

If you know about your past lives, or if you have your loved ones sitting on your shoulder telling you everything, it’s like going into an exam already knowing all the answers. What good is the exam? We’re not supposed to know the answers.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
That’s why they call it the great unknown.

Speaker 2 - Tom:
Well, it’s great. You don’t know.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Right.

Speaker 3 - Melissa:
Full of surprises. Who knows? And if we knew, maybe we wouldn’t want to go there, and we’re all going there. Let’s not know.

Speaker 2 - Tom:
I have theories about that too. When we get off this planet, out of the physical plane, we go back and go, “What the heck was I thinking?”

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Here’s a question: “Do people fall in love on the other side? If you didn’t find it on this planet, could it happen in the afterlife?”

Speaker 2 - Tom:
Yes, I think so. We have a specific example of that. We have one of our volunteers - I won’t say her name - who had two or three near-death experiences.

She came back from one of the near-death experiences and said, “It was a love so intense and so beautiful. That’s what I want.” She spent the rest of her living days trying to find a love that gave her the love she felt when she had the near-death experience.

In fact, she even went to a medium who told her that she was going to get that love again in about a year and a half to two years. She got very excited about it. Then she found out she had a terminal disease, and she said, “Oh, so that’s what I’m getting.”

When she died from that disease, our interpretation was that she finally found the love she had been looking for - that she would finally be reunited with, or connected to, that love she was waiting for.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
I think it’s more a case that we fall in love with the other side. We fall in love with that sphere, with that dimension, as opposed to finding a mate.

Love is a little bit different on the other side. If we even define love as that connection to someone you relate to and can’t live without, I think we sort of lose our identities a bit, even though we retain personalities and memories. We think in a broader sense about love, not specifically.

Let’s face it, you can’t have physical sex or things like that. It’s all thought. I don’t think there’s speed dating on the other side.

We get asked sometimes about people who have been married three or four times and loved all their partners. The question is, “Who’s going to be there to greet me when I go?” I think it’s more a case that they may all be there, because there’s no jealousy. Everything is pure love.

Speaker 4 - Marta:
I’ve talked about this before, about a dream that I had. It was shortly after my husband died, and I was hoping that he would come to me in my dream. He did.

I thought, “Oh, good. We’ll be intimate.” But then it changed into this beautiful light. I felt exactly what you’re talking about. It wrapped me in this ineffable feeling of joy and of being cared about. It was like a cloud that was so soft. Again, there were no words for it.

Later, I woke up and thought, “Oh, maybe I died in my sleep,” because I’d heard people talk about near-death experiences as having this feeling of light and this exquisite feeling. That’s what I felt, and I believed my husband was telling me, “This is where I am, and do not worry.” It was extraordinary.

I talked to a few people after that about it, and they told me that they too had this dream or this feeling. I think that’s what happens in death: you’re enveloped with this amazing love, care, caring, and joy, and it’s endless.

Speaker 3 - Melissa:
Marta, that’s so beautiful.

And you know what you were saying before, what Bob was saying: we get a question from people who have been married several times and loved each one of them very much: “Who’s going to be there for me on the other side?”

His answer was that they could all be there. What I have noticed, and have seen in readings of that situation, is that the loved one who’s already on the other side will come through and say that they’re the ones who brought the new marriage together, that they didn’t want to see you sad, so they brought somebody to you who could fulfill the physical part of your life.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Marta, could you relate to that?

Speaker 4 - Marta:
Yeah. I do believe that. I truly believe that. I think it comes from the people that I love and will always love, and my parents. They all want us to be happy. They want us to be fulfilled.

Speaker 3 - Melissa:
That’s all they want.

Speaker 2 - Tom:
That’s everything for a parent.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Right.

Someone asked, “Can everyone on the other side communicate with each other?”

Well, if it’s all by thought, but we have free will here and there, I suppose if you choose just to be within and not to communicate, that’s your option. Maybe some people don’t want to transfer their thoughts and receive thoughts. I don’t know. It’s pure conjecture.

Somebody also wrote, “I have read some of the books mentioned on your show. Like once you mentioned Anthony Borgia. He says that they live in houses, yet in other books I’ve read they say there’s no need for houses. We don’t have physical bodies that need shelter. What’s your take on this?”

I think, again, it’s all free will. If we had an attachment to our home and we love our home, why not? We can manifest it. We don’t have a physical body and a need for food, but if we love pizza, what’s wrong with manifesting a pizza?

Speaker 3 - Melissa:
I agree with that, Bob. The word “housing” speaks to me. If that’s important to someone, maybe it would matter. There may also be people who don’t form attachments to where they live, and then it wouldn’t be important to them in the afterlife.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Another question: “If everyone in the afterlife communicates telepathically, that means everyone can hear your thoughts. Isn’t that a bit unsettling?”

Speaker 2 - Tom:
If you’re somebody like Melissa, for example, she’s not going to have a bad thought about anybody, so she’s certainly not worried about it being an invasion of privacy.

But it goes back to what we were saying before. Even though you may have had a lot of mean thoughts in the physical world, once you’re in the next realm, it’s completely different.

Again, it’s hard for us to grasp the concept, but it’s not an invasion of privacy.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
I’ve thought about that. In this world of thought, I occasionally have a bad thought here and there, especially about certain people, so I’m worried that it might offend people. I’m just trusting that I’ll be different.

Speaker 3 - Melissa:
I think you will, Bob. I don’t see you as a bad person whatsoever. When you reach the other realm, the issues that may cause you to have those bad thoughts probably aren’t going to be there anymore. It won’t matter to you. It won’t factor into your existence at all.

I’ve often felt, with soul groups, that there are people who have these facades. I feel like I can see through them. I still accept them, but I know there’s kind of a fake persona just for them to get along and be among others. I feel like something is being hidden by this false facade that they seem to need.

On the other side, I feel like that’s all going to drop away. I don’t know what happens to those folks. I don’t know whether they feel naked because they don’t have the things they’ve been showing to others in their earthly presence.

It will be interesting. Hopefully in my next life I’ll be able to find these people and go, “Well, you’ve changed so much I don’t even recognize you,” because all of that has dropped away. Certain things matter here that really don’t matter: how you dress, how you behave or live, what kind of house you’re in. I guess we’ll all just find out.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
We will.

Speaker 4 - Marta:
Should I be worried?

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Should what?

Speaker 4 - Marta:
Should I be worried?

Speaker 3 - Melissa:
I wasn’t describing you, was I? What are you faking, Marta?

Speaker 4 - Marta:
Well, my epiphany in the shower this morning was -

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Wait, wait, wait. Who was in the shower with you?

Speaker 4 - Marta:
I said my epiphany in the shower. I didn’t mean I was in the shower with “Epiphany.” I had an epiphany while I was in the shower.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Okay, go ahead.

Speaker 4 - Marta:
We perceive most of our reality through our physical senses, right? We think of everything that happens in the physical world as being permanent.

But it’s actually the other way around. The nonphysical, invisible world is the permanent world. Consciousness, thoughts, emotions - they’re everlasting. Everything in the physical is just illusory. It comes and goes.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Yeah.

Speaker 2 - Tom:
What’s the word? Ephemeral?

Speaker 3 - Melissa:
Temporary.

Speaker 4 - Marta:
Yes, exactly.

Speaker 2 - Tom:
I was in the shower with her too.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
And look, she’s being silenced.

Speaker 4 - Marta:
I know. I’ll hear about it later, though.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
We just don’t know. The question is: are we really experiencing this, or is this all a dream?

Speaker 3 - Melissa:
Yeah. Who knows?

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
A lot of people say that this is the dream world and the other stuff is the real world, right?

Speaker 2 - Tom:
Yeah.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
What is it? “I think, therefore I am.” So maybe, “I dream, therefore I am.” Who knows?

Speaker 3 - Melissa:
Exactly.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
You just don’t know.

And we only use such a small part of our brain anyway, so I wonder why.

Speaker 2 - Tom:
That’s a whole other question.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
I hardly use mine at all.

Speaker 2 - Tom:
We use a very small part of our brain, and we also experience just a sliver of what’s out there - sound frequencies and so forth. We live a very sheltered life.

Speaker 4 - Marta:
We were talking earlier about meditation and about my first time meditating. I felt like I was floating in a black space.

But the black space was not fearful. It was just holding me up. It was the most wonderful feeling.

So I wonder, maybe that black space is just not fearful at all. We’re taught that black means negative.

Speaker 2 - Tom:
It’s just the absence of light.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
All right. We’re out of time. I’m going to read our global peace prayer.

Now let us, as one consciousness, give our energy of loving thought by praying like this: to love one another; to treat others as we would like to be treated; to forgive others and return love for hate, kindness for anger; to spread this feeling to everyone, to our fellow man, as well as the Earth and its environment.

And I’d like to say our loved ones are only a heartbeat away.

Speaker 2 - Tom:
And science is going to accept it.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
Yes. Thank you, and good night, everyone. We’ll talk to you next time.

Speaker 2 - Tom:
Good night.

Speaker 3 - Melissa:
Good night, everyone.

Speaker 4 - Marta:
Good night.

Speaker 1 - Bob Ginsburg:
See you soon.
