Occupation:
Talk Show Host, Electronics Entrepreneur, Author, Classic Rock Music Journalist and Director of PR Exposure Now
Biography:

Rock Music journalist Ray Shasho was dubbed ‘Rock Raymond’ by friends and family for his love of rock music. Since a kid growing up in Baltimore, Maryland he became obsessed with music. In high school, he attended hundreds of rock concerts and even took a job at the famed Capital Centre arena to meet his favorite rock stars before and after their shows. After graduating from a CBS owned broadcasting school in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Ray became a Top 40 radio deejay in the late 70’s and early 80’s and his life became the music. Unfortunately radio stations trusted computers (Arbitron ratings) over human instincts. It was the early radio jocks who discovered great music and put it out over the airwaves. Radio became mundane when they began mimicking each other based on the Arbitrons.

After his stint in radio, Shasho became an entrepreneur in electronics. Ray and his family owned and operated cutting-edge retail electronic businesses in Washington, D.C.  Shasho witnessed all the technological advancements firsthand and how it affected the music industry. From early transistor radios, record players, reel to reel tape recorders, cassette and eight track tape players, walkmans, CD players to MP3’s. Some of Ray’s clients included … Chuck Norris, James Mason, Ted Williams, Alex Haley, Art Buchwald, Dick Gregory, Dionne Warwick, John Candy, Jon Voight and General Colin Powell.

Ray Shasho published his first novel entitled Check the Gs, Ray’s comical and awe-inspiring novel about growing up in the family business. Shasho subsequently released a second novel entitled, Wacky Shenanigans on F Street-Proud to be Politically Incorrect in Washington D.C.

In 2010, Ray Shasho became a classic rock music journalist in St. Petersburg, Florida. It started out as a fun gig to help promote his book but something very extraordinary transformed. Shasho began covering concerts and music events around the Tampa Bay area and decided to take a crack at interviewing some of the rock music legends that he idolized all of his life.

Ray’s very first “rock star” interview was Joe Lala who lived in Tampa, Florida. He contacted Joe by way of the internet and scheduled an interview at Joe’s home. Ray was surprised how cordial and amendable Joe was to tell the story about his rock and roll past. Ray and Joe spent hours together reliving his days of playing percussion with Blues Image, Stephen Stills and Manassas, The Bee Gees and Firefall. Joe disclosed stories about jamming with Jimi Hendrix and throwing Mick Jagger out of his hotel room in New York City. After the interview, Joe asked Ray to be his personal assistant and later to help write his own personal memoir.  Shasho was so overwhelmed with the ease of the interview that he immediately began his search for the next one.

Ray quickly became one of the top music journalists in the country. His column is read by thousands of music enthusiasts daily and Shasho’s in-depth interviews, album and concert reviews are featured on artist websites around the globe.

Shasho began asking each legendary musician, singer and songwriter this question … If you had a “Field of Dreams” wish, like the movie, to play or collaborate with anyone from the past or present, who would that be? The question became eminent to the interviewer and interviewee and the responses will surely surprise the most discerning music enthusiast.

Ray is currently the director of ‘The Publicity Works Agency’ promoting authors and musicians across the globe. His new book is entitled The Rock Star Chronicles  featuring over 50 Intimate Conversations with the Music Legends That Set Us Free.Music Journalist Ray Shasho has been on a rock and roll pilgrimage to help promote and save the greatest music the world has ever known.

Here’s a list of the music artists Ray has interviewed for the book and recently on BBS radio to help promote.

Check the Gs’

The True Story of an Eclectic American Family

and Their Wacky Family Business

AND

Wacky Shenanigans on F Street (2nd Edition)

Proud to be Politically Incorrect in Washington, D.C.

Wacky-Shenanigans-book.jpg

Check the Gs’ At an age when most kids are just getting rid of the training wheels on their bicycle, Ray Shasho entered into a crazy world of secret lingo and bullying sales tactics at the Chin Lung Art Gallery, his father's retail store on the corner of Thirteenth and F Street in Washington, DC. Check the Gs is the true story of how this bizarre family business changed his world forever. Raised by a Cuban Catholic mother and Syrian Jewish father, Shasho made his first sale at the age of six and never looked back. Life in the family business (and in the Shasho family) was never boring. From FBI interrogations to angry mobs, each new day at the Chin Lung Art Gallery brought with it new adventures. Check the Gs tells a story for everyone who is proud their family and heritage but not afraid to laugh at its many eccentricities, and for anyone who has ever worked in retail and experienced its humorous situations and misadventures.

Review …

…“This book takes you away to a time that will never be repeated in America. Where families worked together, ate together, and passed down the family business. Ray tells us his story and you are locked in from the first page. You live inside his family's retail store; when retail meant something before the Best Buys & Walmart's took away the shopping "experience." You're next to Ray when he attends rock concerts by real artists in the Baltimore & Washington DC area. This is a guy that lives & breathes two things: family & music. It’s a beautifully written book that I couldn't put down …

Highly recommended!”

It was a hit right away with the release of "Rip and Tear" as the first single and video. "Never Enough" and "The Ballad of Jayne" followed, pushing the album toward platinum status once again. The video compilation from this album earned the band its second gold video award. A successful world tour followed. The band's third album, Hollywood Vampires, was recorded in the fall of 1990. With the release of "Kiss My Love Goodbye" as the first single and video, and another successful world tour, the album gave L.A. GUNS its third platinum album in a row.

Vicious Circle was released in early 1995 and was followed by another successful world tour. In 1999, L.A. Guns went into the studio to record a greatest hits package titled Black Beauties that also included five new songs written for the album. In 2001, the band released its sixth studio album, Man in the Moon and in 2002 their 7th Album Waking The Dead followed.
After a 2003 world tour to support Waking the Dead, L.A. GUNS recorded Rips The Covers Off with producer Andy Johns. This was a collection of 70's rock songs. L.A. GUNS began work on TALES FROM THE STRIP and it was released in August 2005. It received some stellar reviews and critical acclaim. A live CD, Loud and Dangerous, was released late August 2006 with the band again supporting it with a world tour.
In November 2011 the band signed their latest record deal with Cleopatra Records, releasing their tenth studio album Hollywood Forever in June 2012. The album was produced once again by veteran music producer, Andy Johns. The new record debuted at #25 on the Billboard Rock charts with the title track "Hollywood Forever", and it was considered one of the best Hard Rock albums of 2012 by fans and critics alike, proving once again that L.A. GUNS were on top of their game with tracks like "You Better Not Love Me" and "Sweet Mystery".

Now after some down time, the band is back and firing with the return of Kelly Nickels on bass, Steve Riley on drums, Scotty Griffin on lead guitar and Kurt Frohlich on lead vocals and guitar.
With more than 30 years' worth of noteworthy material, the band have proved to be true warriors of the 80's genre and are geared to tear it up across the world giving audiences the high-octane Rock-n-Roll that is L.A. GUNS.

Having recently signed to Golden Robot Records part of the Golden Robot Global Entertainment Group, the legendary L.A. Guns have released their new single ‘Crawl’ off their upcoming album RENEGADES.

A KENTUCKY GAL WITH  SOULFUL INTENSITY

COLLABORATES WITH

'O R L E A N S'  LEGEND JOHN HALL

EXCLUSIVE!

Thirty years ago, John Hall of Orleans met Jonell Mosser, queen of the Bluebird in Nashville. They immediately wrote a song together, a collaboration that caught fire when Johanna Hall came into the mix.  They wrote dozens of songs over the next decade.

As a duo, John and Jonell did some memorable gigs in Woodstock. Recently, a cassette of one of those shows—an acoustic duo show at the Bearsville Theater in 1994—surfaced from a neglected drawer. A lost gem, the performances were so stellar, the songs so new they still had dew on them. Twenty-five years later, after Johanna digitized and edited it, that performance is finally released to the public as Little Black Dress.

Jonell Mosser’s first record was Around Townes, a collection of songs by Townes Van Zandt. She then came to the attention of producer Don Was (Bonnie Raitt, Waylon Jennings, Rolling Stones) who cut an album with her. He also put together the band New Maroons which performed at Farm Aid with Jonell singing in front of Benmont Tench, Mark Goldenberg, Was, and Ringo Starr. Two CDs--So Like Joy and Enough Rope--were released on Hall’s Siren Songs label, followed by Trust Yourself (Better Angels) and Fortunes Lost, Fortunes Told (Brother’s Mother’s Music).

Singing in venues large and small, touring the US and Japan with Orleans, Delbert McClinton, and other, Jonell has seen her audience grow. She’s sung studio vocals for B.B. King, Trisha Yearwood, Jesse Winchester, Etta James, Wynona, Rodney Crowell, Vince Gill, Waylon Jennings, Patty Smythe, A.J. Croce, Bruce Cockburn….

John Hall’s written songs for Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, Ricky Skaggs, Steve Wariner, and James Taylor. He’s played guitar on tours and records with Little Feat, Taj Mahal, Jackson Browne, and Seals and Crofts. His music and environmental activism led him to 10 years in elective office. Now, back to music full time, he writes songs and performs solo and with Orleans.

"Listen to Jonell Mosser just once in concert and you'll be an instant believer. She sings with all-out passion and heart. No frills. No games. Just a soulful intensity that makes you realize you're in the presence of the real thing."
