Guest Biography:

KEN CARTER’s previous careers were a paramedic and middle school science teacher. While researching the subject of bioenergy and pursuing certification as a Qigong practitioner, Carter found books on the theory of orgone energy. Along with his business partner, Bob Quintas, a 35-year veteran of physical therapy, they invented the RF BioShield, a unique invention that gives individuals protection from harmful devices that emit electromagnetic radiation in their home and business. The RF BioShield has been on the market for several years, and stops chaotic vibratory frequencies—from cell phones, computers, Wi-Fi routers, microwave ovens, televisions, cordless phones, and smart meters—and redirects the frequencies away from the body by a third generation orgonite. After sustaining a career ending injury, Ken began a life changing healing path. He healed his body, became a Level 3 practitioner of Emei Qigong, is a Level 1 BioCybernaut, sells a device for protection from electromagnetic radiation, and became an apprentice to an Apache-Sioux medicine woman.

Dr. Sherry Towers has a diverse background in mathematical and computational modeling, applied statistics, informatics, advanced quantitative methods, high performance computing, and data mining. She has over 360 publications on a wide variety of topics that include applied statistics, and mathematical and computational epidemiology and sociology. Her unique trans-disciplinary skill set enables her to examine a wide range of research questions that are at the forefront of her field, and are often of broad interest and importance to policy makers and the general public.

Her diverse research interests include modeling the spread of disease in populations, including influenza, MRSA, ebola, and dengue, and also application of contagion models to examine the spread of ideas and social behaviors within a population.

Several of her publications in epidemiology have received widespread media attention, including forecasts for the progression of the 2009 influenza pandemic, and the 2014 ebola epidemic in West Africa.  Both analyses correctly forecast the progression of the epidemics, and her forecast for the 2009 pandemic was discussed in a special US Senate meeting on October 23, 2009 H1N1 Flu: Monitoring the Nation’s response.

Her work in computational sociology has also received international media attention, including an analysis of how media can incite panic in a population, and how contagion may play a role in the temporal patterns observed in mass killings in the US.  The latter work has received extensive ongoing media coverage, including on BBC, CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, NPR, Reuters, USA Today, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, Christian Science Monitor, Newsweek, The Atlantic, The Telegraph, Vox, and many other local, national, and international news agencies. URIAH HEEP & OZZY OSBOURNE

LEGENDARY DRUMMER ANNOUNCES NEW PROJECTS

Lee Kerslake is an English musician, best known as the longtime drummer and backing vocalist for the rock band Uriah Heep, in addition to his work in the Ozzy Osbourne band

Kerslake joined Uriah Heep in November 1971, left the band in October 1979, and rejoined them in April 1982. In early 2007 it was announced on the Heep website that Kerslake left the band ‘due to ongoing health problems’.

With Heep, Kerslake also performed backing vocals both on album and on stage. On the Firefly album he was credited with the nickname “The Bear”, a reference to his beard growth and overall solid physical build.

During his time out of Uriah Heep, he worked with Ozzy Osbourne, with whom he recorded Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman, and played with bass guitarist Bob Daisley, who later joined Uriah Heep. On the Diary of a Madman notes, Kerslake and Daisley weren’t credited. The two musicians were fired in late March 1981, just after the recording session, and replaced for the tour by Tommy Aldridge and Rudy Sarzo. Aldridge’s and Sarzo’s photos were put on the album and they were credited as studio musicians, but they didn’t play on the album.

In 1998, Kerslake and Daisley filed suit against Ozzy Osbourne and his manager (and wife) Sharon Osbourne, seeking royalties and songwriting credits for their contributions to the Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman albums. Osbourne subsequently erased Kerslake and Daisley’s playing on both albums, replacing their performances with tracks by bassist Robert Trujillo and drummer Mike Bordin.

In 2003, Kerslake and Daisley’s lawsuit was dismissed by the United States District Court in Los Angeles. This dismissal was upheld by the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Lee now performs with his own band “The Lee Kerslake Band”, guests with various bands and regularly joins ex-Heep members Ken Hensley and Paul Newton in “Uriah Heep Legends”

REFERRED TO AS "THE JIMI HENDRIX OF THE VIOLIN"

NEW ALBUM 'GUILTY OF INNOCENCE'

NEW MUSIC VIDEO 'BEHIND THE CURTAIN'

Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius’ album GUILTY OF INNOCENCE (on Melodic Revolution Records) is set for college radio this February, with a new music video “Behind The Curtain.”

The video for “Behind the Curtain” features actor Max McGuire (“Star Crossed Lovers”) playing different characters and Stratospheerius members Joe Deninzon (electric violin/vocals), Jamie Bishop (bass), Aurelien Budynek (guitar), and drummer Lucianna Padmore wearing neon-colored masks.

Joe says, “The song is about the rise and downfall of celebrity and the primal fascination we have in building someone up and tearing them down, watching someone suffer. We love to chastise someone while we ourselves often lead double lives, hiding all kinds of skeletons in our closets while pretending we are faultless.”

In the video, Max plays a tormented wretched old man stuck in an endless maze of corridors in his mind, his own personal hell. Through the video, he opens different doors and enters new worlds where he assumes a different identity in each, putting on a face  and playing a role, always returning back into his hallway of hell and searching for a new doorway to open, doomed to do this for eternity. The band represents the demons who continue to hover around and haunt this man, with a nod to the Droogs from Clockwork Orange.

The video was co-produced by renowned MTV producer David P. Levin, Filner at Alpha Wave Studios in East Hanover, NJ, and edited by David Milone and David P. Levin.

Stratospheerius’ GUILTY OF INNOCENCE is finding praise for its musicianship, vocals, songwriting, inventiveness, and sound:

PROGRESSION: “Joe Deninzon has made a career…wielding his violin like guitar.  In that way he has pioneered a new standard for rock violin, much the same way Ian Anderson did for flute.”

“Splashy and theatrical, GUILTY OF INNOCENCE is a howl for justice delivered by virtuosos completely in synch with one another!“ writes “Strings” Magazine, the “Bible” for the String music world.)

"GUILTY OF INNOCENCE is not only great, but one of the most hectic and heart-stopping albums I’ve listened to,” states “Music From the Other Side of the Room”’s Zachary Nathanson.

Stratospheerius has showcased their “frenzied melange of progressive rock, jazz fusion and funkabilly” throughout the world at colleges, festivals, and clubs. They have opened for artists including Alex Skolnick, Gary Hoey, Martin Barre, Tim Reynolds, Mickey Hart, Mike Stern, and John Scofield. The group has played festivals including The Detroit International Jazz Festival, Great South Bay, Chattanooga RiverFest, Harmony Fest a number of times through the years. The band was a winner of the John Lennon International Songwriting Competition the Musicians Atlas Independent Music Awards. They have been featured in Progression, Relix, Downbeat, and Jazziz... Known as the “Jimi Hendrix of violin,” Joe is the author of Mel Bay’s electric violin technique book, “Plugging In: A Guide to Gear and Technique for the 21st Century String Player”, AND HAS recently worked with Bruce Springsteen, Phoebe Snow, Everclear, Peter Criss from KISS, Renaissance, and as a soloist with Jazz at Lincoln Center, the New York City Ballet, and The Muncie Symphony Orchestra on his concerto!

Guest Biography:

KRISTINA BANT JENKINS

A passion for photography was ignited while modeling for some amazing photographers including Troy Plota and Walter Iooss. Kristina quickly realized that she much preferred being behind the camera taking the pictures. A few generous photographers shared bits of their knowledge, even saying, “Here, take a roll!” Kristina’s photos have since been featured in Us Magazine, People Magazine, Total Film Magazine, on Good Morning America, the Huffington Post, and the Daily Mail, among many others. On any given day, she finds joy in photographing the candid smiles of children that make parents’ hearts beam, or a celebrity for a new ad campaign. Among the many celebrities she has been thrilled to photograph are Smokey Robinson, Trisha Yearwood, Shawn Merriman, and Lou Diamond Phillips. Coming from USC School of Architecture, Kristina has returned to her roots photographing some wonderful architects and interior designers to capture what is on the forefront of current design.

“If you haven’t seen already, I’m a mom of an amazing little guy with autism.

While so much of our life revolves around autism, I also want everyone to see just how much like everyone else we are. I like to show the happiness and giggles, the triumphs over huge challenges, and most of all the personalities and beautiful faces that live with autism. So with that in mind, I am working on a project called, THISisAutism™, Life Through The Other Lens™.”

Kristina is now celebrating the simple joys, the twinkles in eyes, and the huge triumphs over enormous challenges, with her current project, THIS is AutismTM, Life Through the Other LensTM, designed to help broaden the world’s view of what it means to have and live with autism, through photography. Kristina is a funny and insightful writer and speaks publicly on her photography and on her experience as a mom of a little boy, who is “the coolest kid there is.” Kristina wrote, “Our children with autism hear more intensely, feel more intensely, and our parenting is also then more intense.”

“My eleven year old son, Charlie, was diagnosed with autism before his second birthday. To me, Charlie is everything in my life, my best little friend, and perfect! Early on in the autism journey, I would talk about my son and autism, and people immediately put that label on him, then identifying him with anything attributed to that label. I felt it already boxed him in. It hurt me to think that each individual with an autism spectrum diagnoses was already limited in people’s minds. When discussing a child on the autism spectrum, people say ‘this child is autistic.’ It’s just easier to say, and most accepted. When I talk about my child, or my child’s classmate, or friend also on the spectrum, I say, ‘He is funny, he is empathetic, he is sweet, he is a goof-ball and a flirt, he loves basketball, and music, he adores his grandfather… and he has autism.’ I want people to know our children for who they are as individuals first, people, children with souls and hearts. Not for their biggest struggle.”

Capitalizing on her unique experience on all sides of the camera, as a model, as a client, editor, and as photographer, Kristina understands exactly what goes into a photo. While photographing children, she puts kiddos at ease, pulling out their best expressions naturally. Years of behavioral training and simply living alongside autism has provided invaluable knowledge and endless patience. Kristina has an ability for entering the child‘s world, not asking a child to pose, but capturing that split-second of sparkle, wonder and awe, in a child’s face, truly sharing what makes each individual child shine!

“Because I am a photographer and one of my biggest circles is the autism community, I became the photographer of so many kiddos on the spectrum. I believe I have a knack for entering their world for a few minutes, I do that for all children! I prefer not to make them pose, per say, but more see what they bring me to. And this really works for kids with autism. I always then see a spark in their faces, a twinkle in their eyes, a joy come across them! This is what I love to capture! This is what I think makes that child shine and makes their parents love their photos; that smile or expression that they can’t easily capture on camera or explain to others. I love those precious faces and personalities. …THIS is Autism! I found myself saying this every time I showed one of those photos. Forget the diets, the debates, the controversies, even the therapies for a bit, let’s see who this beautiful child is as a little person… THIS is Autism!“

Kristina is a strong voice for what it means to parent a child on the spectrum, and her humor and positive outlook shine through in her writing and photography. For these efforts, Kristina was awarded the 2016 Single Mom’s Planet® Women with Vision Woman of the Year Award!

KEVIN MARTIN INTERVIEW

CANDLEBOX CELEBRATES 25TH ANNIVERSARY

WITH U.S. TOUR

Currently celebrating their 25th anniversary, multi-platinum rock band Candlebox has not only withstood the test of time but, more importantly, they’ve withstood trends, trials and tribulations and come out stronger for it. Because for this hard-working band out of Seattle, the goal has always been the same – to create iconic music that would last a lifetime.

Taking their name after a Midnight Oil song, Candlebox burst onto the scene in 1991 with their debut, self-titled album that went on to sell more than four million copies, was certified four times platinum, and landed them in the number 7 spot on the Billboard Charts.

Their follow up album Lucy was also well received earning them a platinum certification and solidifying them as a tour de force in the thriving 90s music scene. The band would then go on to release Happy Pills in 1998, which would be their last album before their eventual hiatus in 2000.

The driving force behind Candlebox’s success has been their explosive live show and throughout their career, they’ve toured with such bands as Living Colour, The Flaming Lips, Our Lady Peace, Rush, Henry Rollins, Metallica and more. They were also a featured band on the main-stage at Woodstock '94 and made repeat live performances on the David Letterman show.

They are best known for the singles "Change", "You", "Far Behind" and "Simple Lessons". "Far Behind" from their debut album entered Billboard's Top 20 in July of 1993 and didn't drop off the charts until January of 1994. The videos for "Far Behind" and "You" were in seemingly perpetual rotation on MTV and became two of the most requested videos of 1993.

The band took a break from 2000 to 2006 and in 2008 the band reformed and released their fourth studio album called "Into The Sun". This meant their return since 1998's Happy Pills. Also, they released a live album called Alive in Seattle, which included tracks from all their past albums.

Candlebox then spent years touring and released their sixth album Disappearing in Airports, which debuted at #9 on the Billboard Charts and spurred many tours including a successful European tour. In January of 2018, the group kicked off their much-publicized “25 Years Of Rock & Still Rolling Tour” and announced two exclusive Seattle shows with all four original members, which sold out in minutes.

Kicking off January 25th in Grand Rapids, MI, this powerhouse band will perform the hits from the album that launched their careers including “Far Behind,” “You,” and “Cover Me” as well as offer a career retrospective by playing songs from the entire six CD catalogue all the way up to their latest release Disappearing in Airports.

To keep the tour fresh and exciting for fans, frontman and founder Kevin Martin decided to incorporate a variety of show formats and performance styles that would highlight the band’s dexterity. The routing comprises large venue concerts and appearances on such festivals as Rocklahoma as well as intimate acoustic dates that lend themselves to a story-tellers format.

“This tour is for our fans, those that have continued to support us for 25 years,” said Martin. “It’s been an honor to play for them throughout the years and we feel truly fortunate that our music continues to resonate with our audience. We can’t wait to hit the road for this one – I think people will be in for some big surprises!”

In addition to Martin, Candlebox members include Adam Kury on bass, Brian Quinn on lead guitar, Island Styles on guitar and Robin Diaz on drums.

My identity embraces Miracle Alchemy, which is a result of learning to understand what miracles are for by activating them in my own life with whole understanding Alchemy is a term that is applied to Higher Understanding that comes about due to miracles, hence I call what I do Miracle Alchemy, so refer to myself as being a Miracle Alchemist. My background includes Massage Therapy, Hypno therapy, NLP psychology, being and Ordained Minister, and I am also Certified in Wholistic Frequency Medicine. I was given the ability to understand the symbolic language in dreams, and I am an amateur in astrology and numerology. Although everything I have studied has been helpful on my journey, understanding that all emotional intelligence begins at the sensory level has been the greatest determiner of understanding the purpose of my own journey. Most, if not all, psychology in the material world is based on behavioral science, but behavioral science only tells the story after the fact. All behavior begins with a thought. The question is, why would thought cause such us to act out behaviorally in such a way that it would cause inappropriate behavior, not only on someone else, but to ourselves as well? Exploration into this question has become the purpose of my life for over 25 years. Because the answer to my question occurred in layers, which was also determined in physical years of fearful programming, I am just now beginning to wholly understand why our ability to sense our 3D reality with the body senses is not only in error, but is also responsible for death, disease, war, terror, and basically everything else we preceive in the material world as needing to be “fixed.”

INTERVIEWED LIVE FROM THE HOUSE OF BLUES IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA

In anticipation of the impending release of their 25th studio album, Living the Dream, classic rock icons URIAH HEEP embark on a North American tour in early 2018. Kicking off on February 6 in Ottawa, ON, The trek will run through this Spring, with more dates to be announced soon!

"I really looking forward to playing back in my home country," says singer Bernie Shaw. "It's been a good few years since the HEEP have played in Canada and they'll be in for a treat.  As for the States, it's always been a great market for URIAH HEEP, and this tour will be uniting us again with some familiar cities and venues. Also making a long awaited trip to Texas is high on my list. Love the food, love the music scene there. Can't wait. Yeeee Ha!"

Founding member and lead guitarist Mick Box adds, "The mighty HEEP are ready to rock North America. We have waited so long to put a tour in place and now we have one set, it is an incredibly exciting feeling to know we will soon be playing to our fans out there. We are counting down the days and our set list will be a musical journey that takes us from our first album 'Very 'Eavy, Very 'Umble to the last one 'Outsider.'' Appy days!"

In addition to the tour announcement, the band have launched a pledge campaign to crowd fund Living the Dream, their forthcoming studio offering, making it the 25th in their storied career. Fans who contribute will have access to exclusive behind the scenes footage from the recording sessions as well as other perks such as playing with the band during a soundcheck, a signed copy of the album, and much more!

ABOUT URIAH HEEP:

URIAH HEEP debuted in 1970 with the release of one of hard rock's milestones, "Very 'eavy... Very 'umble" and have since sold in excess of 40 millions albums worldwide. They constantly tour the world, playing up to 125 shows a year to 500,000+ fans. The band's live set features the classic tracks from the '70s and is a musical journey from the band's beginnings to the present day.

Along with Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple, Uriah Heep helped invent a decorative and uniquely British form of heavy metal with their debut album, Very 'Eavy, Very 'Umble, offered as a self-titled on American shores, but whatever the titling, historically massive in the invention of a music format that would rule the '70s and only intensify in the '80s.

Uriah Heep have been responsible for the most elevated and intelligent use of vocals in a heavy metal context amongst the major bands inventing the genre in the 1970s. It is for this reason Heep were coined the Beach Boys of Heavy Metal, and their influence is there for all to see in other bands including 'Queen.' They were also one of the forerunners of using the Hammond organ along with Micks signature wah wah guitar and this became the template for their sound.

Success has followed the forging of such an audacious formula. Across 25 studio albums, along with myriad live releases and compilations, Uriah Heep have managed to sell 40 million records worldwide, four million of those in the US. Impressive American numbers, but that leaves 36 million records to be sold in the rest of the world, underscoring the fact that Uriah Heep have become, through their relentless dedication to touring, a truly global band, with particular success in Germany, Scandinavia, Japan, Eastern Europe and Russia, where they were the first Western rock band to play live in Moscow in December 1987 to 180,000 people.

Through their success as Rock n' Roll pioneers this enabled other bands to follow in their wake and Russia is now part of every bands touring schedule.

URIAH HEEP is: Mick Box: Guitars, Vocals, Phil Lanzon: Keyboards, Vocals

Bernie Shaw: Lead Vocals, Russell Gilbrook: Drums, Vocals, Dave Rimmer: Bass, Vocals
