KERANI

Arctic Sunrise

Kerani, one of the top instrumental keyboardists in Northern Europe, explores earth’s polar regions with her third album, Arctic Sunrise, which also symbolizes a spiritual awakening.

“In this time of global climate change with the polar caps melting more than ever before,” explains Kerani, “I felt it was important to call attention to these beautiful and important Arctic and Antarctica wilderness areas.”

The music focuses on her piano and synth playing supplemented here and there with guest musicians on violin, cello, guitar, horn and flute, plus percussion, drums, some nature sounds and a little wordless vocalizing by Kerani.  The tunes were inspired by the native Inuit Indians of the Arctic region, an ill-fated British expedition to the South Pole in 1911, the country of Norway, the Northern Lights, huge blocks of ice breaking off the polar caps and drifting out to sea, and an appreciation for these spectacular wilderness regions.  This new age music, “a true tribute to the mysterious worlds of ice,” is delicate one moment and majestic the next, and is filled with musical imagery, spirituality, grandeur and mystery.

Kerani’s musical career also encompasses writing and performing music for films, and recording and performing with mystical British singer-songwriter Asher Quinn (aka Asha).

Kerani’s albums -- Arctic Sunrise, The Journey and Wings of Comfort -- are available as CDs and digital downloads worldwide at a wide variety of online sales sites including CDbaby, Amazon, iTunes, eMusic, CDuniverse, Spiritualbalance.nl (Belgium and The Netherlands), Magicmusic.de (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) and Redeye.com.au (Australia).  More information about Kerani is available at her English-language website, kerani.nl.

“When I started writing Arctic Sunrise,” explains Kerani, “I imagined an Inuit seeing the first sun on the horizon after six months of darkness.  I wanted to create a feeling of awe, respect and humbleness.  As we go through life, it is easy to think of our problems and fears as major.  This causes so much emotional suffering.  However, when we place ourselves between the Earth and the Universe, we come to understand that we are being taken care of by the Universe.  Then all our problems become meaningless. In this sense the idea of an Arctic Sunrise -- a time of coming out of the cold darkness into the beautiful warm light -- can surely be interpreted as a spiritual awakening.”

Leading up to this album, Kerani wrote scores for “Antarctic Inspection” and “Rothera,” documentaries made by the NWO (Dutch Institute for Scientific Research).  She also did her own research on Arctic and Antarctic exploratory expeditions.  The title track was specifically influenced by a report written by the Danish explorer Knud Rasmussen during the Fifth Thule Expedition 1921-1924 in which he recorded a genuine Inuit poem that says that despite all our adventures and fears, “There is only one great thing...the great day that dawns and the light that fills the world!”  Kerani also was inspired to compose “Aurora Sky” after reading the 1894 report by the Bureau of American Ethnology that describes the Eskimo legend surrounding the Northern Lights (“torches held in the hands of spirits”).

The tune “Discovery” captures the excitement of when explorers and scientists finally managed to travel all the way to the North and South Poles.  “Spirit of the Last Wilderness” was influenced by the fact that, Kerani states, “The Poles are basically the last mostly untouched places on our planet, and their Spirit asks us to keep them pure and unspoiled.”

The most dramatic and heart-wrenching piece on the album is the ten-and-a-half-minute epic “Far Away From Home,” a tribute to Captain Robert Falcon Scott and his British expedition team that perished in Antarctica in 1912 when they raced to be the first explorers to the South Pole, but arrived a month after Roald Amundsen’s Norwegian team.

“I wrote the track ‘Norway’ after a cruise to that country.  As we entered a fjord I was standing on the bow of the ship and I imagined what it must have been like in ancient times when the Vikings would return home in their dragonship hearing their wives on the shore humming a welcoming song.”

Kerani says, “‘Ice Kingdom’ is representative of any ice-covered landscape, but my imagination was mainly triggered by stories that my mother used to tell about her childhood in Hungary where the winters can be exceptionally harsh. She described how the villages were snowed in and the people were not able to go outside for days.  There is also something magical and mysterious about a cold, snow-covered landscape. The knowledge that the earth beneath that blanket of ice comes to life each spring is fascinating, almost miraculous.”

Kerani was born in Belgium to a Hungarian father and German mother, and Kerani currently lives in the south of The Netherlands near the Belgium border and the area where she grew up.  “As a child I listened to the great classical composers like Mozart, Liszt, Schumann and many others.”  Her family got an old piano when she was four.  “I was strangely drawn to that weathered old thing.  Slowly I taught myself to play and I discovered the magic of composing music.  The rise of electronic music in the late Seventies and Eighties was a revelation to me -- Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Kraftwerk, Electric Light Orchestra and Mike Oldfield.  These new sounds boosted my inspiration.  In 1986 I teamed up with a couple of studio musicians to record the instrumentals ‘Seagullsong’ and ‘Oblivion’ which I released as a single.  It got regional airplay and the B-Side became the theme song for the morning show on Radio 2 Flanders.”

She performed as the lead vocalist and keyboardist in the band Liaison in the city of Ternat where they mostly performed the popular music of that time.  Kerani moved to Italy for about three years where she taught English language courses (she speaks English, Dutch, French, Italian, Hungarian and German).  She wrote and published a book of children’s stories called Cherub (“it tells the story of a little angel who helps children”), and also re-orchestrated 15 children’s songs for an instruction DVD for disabled children.  In 2011 Kerani composed the soundtrack for the documentary film “Merlick 1967” commissioned by the Historical Society of the Roerstreek.  Kerani released her first album, Wings of Comfort, in 2011, and her second, The Journey, in 2012.  Both received positive reviews and strong airplay.  Recently Kerani sang backing vocals on two Asher Quinn albums, State of Grace and Heal Your Heart, and performed with him in concert.

A decade ago Kerani began broadening her spiritual journey.  “Without abandoning my Christian faith, over the years I have been expanding my spiritual horizon by reading books by Ute Kretzschmar, Drunvalo Melchizedek, James Redfield, Steve Rother, Deepak Chopra, H.H. the Dalai Lama and Paulo Coelho -- to name just a few.  These are people who managed to provide answers to my countless questions.

“It was not until my first meditations that I grasped the essence of spiritual life.  It is fascinating to experience that the core of life can be touched and the truth approached by communicating to the divine guide. All channels are open and it is always a two-way street.  To me, meditation simply means tuning in, finding balance and connecting emotionally and spiritually with the Source.  I already have a lot to be grateful for and each day comes with a lesson,” Kerani explains.

“I believe that now my compositions tell stories that speak to the heart simply because they are made from the heart.  Most of the time ideas come to me quite unexpectedly and once I have caught their essence, I try to maintain their purity by keeping the flow to and from Above constant and natural.  I have learned to never push, never force it, but to just listen with an open heart.”

Guest Biography:

Dr Scott Werner was born with the gift of higher dimensional sight, which means that when he “tunes in” to someone, he would not only see them in the physical level but also “see” them on multi dimensional levels.

Scott had two near death experiences when he was young. The first time was at the age of 13 and the other at the age of 20. Each time that he came back into consciousness, he returned with the inner knowing that his role in this life is to assist in the healing of humanity, and his “gifts” were enhanced to the degree that he intuitively sees into the physical body.

In 1986, at the age of 29, Scott was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, with multiple lesions on his spine and brain. Even though he was working at one of the best Medical facilities in the United States, his was given only 3 months to live. Unsatisfied with that prognosis, he went home and prayed for guidance.

In a dream that night he was told that he would heal his own cancer. And he did just that by using parasite cleanses, changing his diet and releasing emotional blockage in his life. He began studying herbs, and their healing properties. This started his extensive path into alternative healing methods. Using parasite cleanses, herbs, toning, nutritional support, and detoxing the body.

Scott used herbs, homeopathic and energetic remedies and Chelation therapy in the improvement of health and wellness in “un-treatable illnesses and dis-ease”. He relinquished his Medical license in Utah and Arizona and left traditional medicine in 2005 and opened an herb store in St. George Utah.

Scott truly believes that all dis-ease is a combination of too much toxicity and not enough nutrition in the body, coupled with emotions that deplete our health. He has a very spiritual understanding to the approach to wellness and has worked extensively with world class healer, Katherine Beck.

Scott has lectured extensively to private and professional groups throughout the United States educating them about multiple healing modalities, and herbal products. He is very gifted, incredibly insightful, informative, animated and entertaining. He has lectured on many health subjects ranging from Parasites to virus and from nutritional support to healing energy blockages. He has thousands of clients all over the world, who have sought him out for his knowledge of the healing process.

Guest Biography:

DICK RUSSELL has published eleven books on subjects ranging from natural history to the assassination of President Kennedy. Of five books co-authored with former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura, four have reached the New York Times Best-Seller list: They Killed Our President! (2013), 63 Documents the Government Doesn’t Want You to Read (2011), American Conspiracies (2010), and Don’t Start the Revolution Without Me (2008). A monumental biography, The Life and Ideas of James Hillman, Volume One: The Making of a Psychologist, was published in 2013 and will come out in paperback in autumn 2014 – which will also see hardcover publication of a memoir, My Mysterious Son.

Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy's assassination, Russell has recently been featured in documentaries by Shane O'Sullivan ("Killing Oswald") and in "Last Word on the Assassination" by John Barbour, both available on Amazon. "On the Trail of the JFK Assassins," Russell's second book examining the conspiracy behind what happened to President Kennedy, appeared in 2008, when Russell was also a consultant on the web-based documentary film, "The Warning" and was featured in a National Geographic documentary on whales.

For most of the past twenty years, the primary focus of Dick Russell's magazine writing and personal activism has been the environment - particularly the crisis impacting the world's fisheries and oceans. A longtime sports fisherman, Russell spent the better part of three years fighting for stronger regulations to protect the endangered Atlantic striped bass. He organized a national conference in Washington, D.C., and appeared on numerous radio and TV programs. For his efforts, Russell was awarded the citizen's Chevron Conservation Award in 1988. Today, the return of the striped bass is considered the foremost example of the resiliency of the oceans - provided a species is given a chance to recover. His new book on this subject, Striper Wars: An American Fish Story, was published by Island Press/Shearwater Books in Summer 2005 and is now available in paperback. The book has been described as "one of the most amazing fish stories...ever" by the Philadelphia Inquirer and "a can't-put-down read" by the Boston Globe.

Russell's previous book is Eye of the Whale (Simon & Schuster hard-cover; paperback edition by Island Press/Shearwater Books), which upon publication was named among the Best Books of 2001 by three major newspapers: the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. It is an account of his following the migration of the California gray whale, from Mexico's Baja peninsula all the way to northern Alaska and Siberia. According to L.A. Times' reviewer Richard Ellis, this book "will change the way you think about the natural world."

Russell has written dozens of articles about other environmental issues, for publications ranging from The Nation to Parenting, and served for eighteen years as a Contributing Editor for OnEarth (formerly Amicus Journal), the award-winning quarterly publication of the Natural Resources Defense Council. He has also been a recipient of the National Coalition for Marine Conservation's Golden Swordfish Award (1984), and is an active member of the Society of Environmental Journalists and PEN USA.

He has published two other widely-acclaimed books. The Man Who knew Too Much (Carroll & Graf, 1992) was hailed by Publisher's Weekly as "a masterpiece of historical reconstruction" focusing on the Kennedy assassination. The book was reissued in a revised, updated edition in 2003, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of that tragic event. Black Genius: And the American Experience (Carroll & Graf, 1998) is a path-breaking study of African-American artists, writers, musicians, educators, and scientists, past and present. According to one reviewer, the book "signals a maturity in our sea-to-shining-sea culture that's long overdue." Including a new chapter about Barack Obama, "Black Genius" was reissued in a revised, updated paperback edition in 2009 by Skyhorse Publishing.

In earlier "incarnations," Russell was a staff writer in the Hollywood Bureau of TV Guide Magazine (1977-79), and a staff reporter for Sports Illustrated (1969-70) in New York. His free-lance articles have appeared in numerous publications, from Family Health to the Village Voice. His work has been published in ten other books. He has been a guest on many national TV and radio programs, including the Joan Rivers Show and NBC Nightly News, and has been a guest lecturer at universities including Harvard and the University of California, at the National Arts Club, and elsewhere.

Married and with one child, Russell divides his time between Boston and Los Angeles. He has traveled widely in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Far East, and Central America. He is a 1969 graduate (BA, Humanities) of the University of Kansas.

Guest Biography:

KEN O'KEEFE - Auto-Biography
I was born in July of 1969, I have worked as an entrepreneur, marine conservationist, and Human Rights Activist. Born in California, I renounced my American citizenship on March 1, 2001 in Vancouver Canada. I now proudly hold Irish, Hawaiian and Palestinian citizenship. although my ultimate allegiance is to all people and thus I am in truth a world citizen.

Before I was conscious however I served in the United States Marine Corps. During the 1991 Gulf War I was ordered, along with several hundred thousand other service members, to take experimental injections and pills that have since been identified as a factor in "Gulf War Syndrome", many have subsequently died from this condition. I also have reason to believe that I/we were exposed to Depleted Uranium while in Kuwait and on the border of Iraq.

As a Marine I spoke out openly about abuse of power by my "superiors" and as a consequence I paid a heavy price. I realised that honour and integrity were virtues which are often punished rather then rewarded and the Marines supplied me with my first serious taste of injustice. This experience taught me one central lesson, just how precious freedom is. Upon my discharge for the Marines I vowed to never relinquish my freedom again and to defend freedom without fear.

Upon my discharge from the Marines I commenced to an ongoing course of study in the areas of anthropology, history, politics, ecology, various forms of law with emphasis on human rights law. I have been profoundly impacted by authors such as Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn along with many others. Books that forced me to confront my own indoctrination and ignorance about the hidden America; The Auto-Biography of Malcolm X, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, Black Like Me, Animal Liberation, The Universal Kinship, Diet for a New America, Necessary Illusions, A peoples History of the United States, and The End of Nature. There are so many more but I list these for the benefit they can offer to anyone seeking the truth.

My love of the sea moved me to found a scuba diving company that was more of a marine conservation organization that was self funded, the company is Deep Ecology in Hawaii. This company was responsible for the saving of dozens of endangered Green Sea Turtles and the formation of a legitimate Marine Sanctuary on the North Shore of Oahu where we were based.

While in Hawaii I became a Hawaiian national and served as a legislator within the Lawful Hawaiian Government. I have authored two laws, one that bound the Hawaiian Government to non-violence, the other outlawing WMD in Hawaii.

In 2004 I was a guest of peace organizations in Japan who sponsored me for a speaking tour on human rights and peace. This invitation was timed to coincide with the Hiroshima and Nagasaki anniversaries. While in Japan I met with dozens of survivors and I was deeply moved by what they shared. To say nuclear war creates hell on Earth is no exaggeration whatsoever, I said then what I shall say as long as the point is necessary, Hiroshima and Nagasaki are the two greatest acts of terrorism this world has ever experienced.

In 2002 I founded the Truth Justice Peace Human Shield Action to Iraq and in 2004, P10K. Both of these direct actions acknowledge the huge disparity between the value of Western life vs. everybody else, the greatest example being the less then 3000 people who died on 9-11, vs. the well over one million Iraqis and Afghani's who have died (based on false premises no less) as retaliation. Disproportionate does not even begin to explain this horrid hypocrisy and injustice. But in this reality we as Westerners have tremendous power for good, should we ever truly decide to use it. I shall continue to work with those who see this reality and are ready to act on it it intelligently.

In the Fall of 2008 I served as a Captain and 1st Mate with the Free Gaza Movement, a direct action in which 46 people successfully challenged the Israeli siege of Gaza. We did so by sailing two boats into Gaza in defiance of the Israeli siege that collectively punishes the Palestinian people and blatantly denies the inherent human right to travel.  In 2008 I also acquired naturalised Palestinian citizenship.

In February 2009 I have founded Aloha Palestine, a non-profit social enterprise dedicated to establishing trade between the European Union and Gaza/Palestine. The reason is simple, so as to replace the bondage of charitable dependency with true self-determination and dignified self-sufficiency.

On May 31, 2001 I was onboard the humanitarian aid ship Mavi Marmara when it was attacked in international waters by Israeli pirates. These pirates murdered 9 activists in cold blood, some of them, as ballistics evidence proves, were executed after having already been shot and completely incapacitated. Like everyone else I was abused by the Israeli's and ultimately beaten at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. After 5 days in Israeli custody I was deported to Turkey after the Israeli's stole my Palestinian Passport. Just two days after having been deported the Israeli Defence (Offence) Forces issued a press release naming me as a "terrorist operative of Hamas" and ridiculously claimed that I was going to Gaza to "train a commando unit for Hamas."

Later In 2010 i first joined and ultimately lead the 'Road to Hope' humanitarian aid convoy to Gaza. During this journey myself and several other convoy members were kidnapped from Libya to Greece by a crazed ship owner who had been paid over $50,000 to transport our convoy vehicles from Libya to Al Arish Port in Egypt (as required by then dictator Mubarak). Eventually the convoy delivered 30 vehicles and over $750,000 worth of aid to the besieged Gaza Strip. Upon arrival I was awarded the Key to the City of Gaza by the democratically elected Prime Minister of Palestine, Ismail Haniyah.

I lived in Gaza from November 2010 to May 2011 and in this time became close with the Samouni family and partnered with them in forming the Samouni Project, a non-profit social enterprise endeavoring to provide quality education for over 100 Samouni children, and to affect self-sufficiency for the family. A classroom and playground were built in 2011-2012.

In 2011 the Trade Not Aid Mission was formed as a partnership between Aloha Palestine CIC and Samouni Project. A full sized coach and 18-ton truck were bought and donations filled the truck to capacity twice over. Before the mission could set off for Gaza from London however infiltrators stole the vehicles, donated goods and money and hideously, these criminals received full protection from the UK Police, specifically Swansea Police Department, DC Paul Harry.

On November 2, 2011 I was unlawfully arrested (but never charged) by DC Paul Harry, the justification for my arrest was testimony by the main infiltrators of the Trade Not Aid Mission (Catherine Myles, Sammi Coulthard, Cath Jenkins, Jez (Jethro) Cuthbert). In their blatantly false testimony they claimed that I falsely represented myself as the "head of a charity". The police used this to confiscate (steal) all of my computers and hard drives for 5 months, as well as stealing my DNA, against my expressed will, while in custody.

From September to November 2011 I mostly lived at Dale Farm and came to know the Gypsy/Irish traveller community there as they faced a racist policy of ethnic cleansing. While there I witnessed and documented what must be considered a shameful example of how the Gypsy community remains openly targetted and violated by governments not just in the UK, but around the world.

In April 2012 the police notified me that there would be "no further action" against me, no charges were ever filed. In October 2012, with the help of a major London law firm that is representing me pro bono, I filed a complaint against the police for unlawful arrest, false imprisonment, assault and two violations of the European Convention on Human Rights. I also compiled a 200+ page chronological report that establishes beyond any doubt that the police and criminal infiltrators colluded with each other to halt the Trade Not Aid Mission. As of April 2013 the police have delayed their response to this complaint and clearly have a strategy of indefinite delay.

In October 2012 was the keynote speaker at the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund (PCRF) Annual Gala, the event raised over $125,000 for this charity. I also returned to Gaza that month with Max Igan, in order to complete the classroom for the Samouni Project and to file the full report of the fraud and theft of the Trade Not Aid Mission by infiltrators including Catherine Myles and shamefully, Palestinian Saeb Shaath. That report was handed directly to the Hamas Government along with my complaint against the police. At that time I publicly offered to pay for Catherine Myles to go to Gaza and hand over any evidence she had to support her actions, unsurprisingly she has ignored this offer.

In November 2012 Swansea County Court ordered Catherine Myles and Sammi Coulthard to return all stolen Trade Not Aid property (Optare Metrorider Minibus, Renault 18-ton truck & donated goods) to myself by December 4, 2012. Catherine Myles and Sammi Coulthard defied the court order and as of April 2013 they retains possession of this stolen property. Furthermore, UK law protects both of these criminals from criminal prosecution because the police refused to deal with this as a criminal matter in the first place.

In February 2013 I travelled to Tehran as a participant in the 3rd Annual Hollywoodism Conference. I spent a month in Iran overall and produced a video entitled 'Iran is not the threat, we are.'

In keeping with his past offerings, the album is imbued with soaring vocals, intimate lyrics, and a range of different moods, yet still fits neatly into the pop singer/songwriter genre.

The first single off of the record, a ballad entitled “Ocean,” is featured in a music video (which will be released at the same time as the album) starring dancers Kathryn McCormick (So You Think You Can Dance/Step Up Revolution) and Bruce Webber (Cirque du Soleil), and choreographed by Emmy nominee, Stacy Tookey.

Guest Biography:

"My Spiritual Awakening began when I had lost everything... in 2009... where I was guided, by Spirit, to a state of Nothingness. Ancient Buddhist Sanscript and Oral Tradition often makes reference, indeed, to this Nothingness. Essentially, I had cleared the table literally of all of the clutter. In Quantum Theory, it is often referred to and paralleled... as Zero Point. In this state of Nothingness, we can NOW encompass and embody the purity and essence of CREATION where we can focus all of our intuitive faculties into what we have always desired to manifest from our Hearts... out of Simplicity... through Clarity. And often this transitional period of Enlightenment is perceived erroneously as a beautiful and inspiring experience filled with rainbows, unicorns, and blue shiny stars... but (indeed) such a delusion is so furthered far from the TRUTH. This Awakening or Enlightenment is rather a demonstrative and destructive process of shifting and of molding... painful... within... that cocoon of transmutation. Everything that you had once known and acknowledged by the EGO... is now then felt deliberatively by Source through the HEART... by hard-core TRUTH. It is all Alchemic in nature. Then from what you will know from out of unawareness is that the answers clearly have resounded from within." (Joel A.
