Guest Biography:

Living an amazing life is not about finding the right answer, but instead happens when we ask the right questions, and Laura Steward intuitively knows the right questions to ask. From the wisdom she learned at her mother’s side to the insight she gained baking pies with her Grandmother, Laura has developed an innate ability to ask the questions that propel business leaders and entrepreneurs to incredible achievements.

Laura operates from a simple philosophy – “Treat people better than they expect to be treated”, and it is from this belief that she was able to carve her niche and stand out in the highly competitive IT field, building Guardian Angel Computer Services from a sole employee business into a leading provider of Managed Technical Services.

An avid reader, Laura’s understanding that questions control the outcome began at the age of six, when Laura watched her Mother question school policy, creating change and allowing Laura to immediately begin learning to read. Throughout her life, Laura questioned the decisions she made along with the decisions made by others. Based on the answers she received Laura was able to build, and fifteen years later sell, her highly successful IT business before starting Wisdom Learned, LLC, a company dedicated to educating leaders based on experience and wisdom learned in the trenches.

Laura is a sought after speaker, Nautilus Award winning and international bestselling author, business advisor, confidant and friend. She is the author of the Bestselling Book “What Would a Wise Woman Do? Questions to Ask Along the Way” which has remained on the Amazon Woman In Business bestseller list for over 90 weeks. Through her weekly Radio Show, Entrepreneur Master Class, keynote speeches, books, seminars, training and one-one sessions, Laura’s mission is clear – help people get off autopilot and create amazing, successful lives.

Today, along with inspiring entrepreneurs and leaders, Laura finds joy spending time with friends and family, cruising around in her convertible, walking along the beach or simply looking at clouds and figuring out what they look like. But no matter what she does, Laura always makes sure to ask questions along the way.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

Kool & the Gang, officially launched in 1969, after performing for five years under various band titles, has influenced the music of three generations and, at the age of 49, the band has become true recording industry legends.

Thanks to iconic songs like CelebrationCherishJungle BoogieSummer Madness and Open Sesame, they’ve earned two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, 25 Top Ten R&B hits, nine Top Ten Pop hits and 31 gold and platinum albums.

In 1979, Kool & the Gang unveiled a smooth new sound with Ladies Nigh and became their first platinum album. The #1 R&B title track reached #8 at Pop. It was followed by Too Hot (#3 R&B, #5 Pop). The 80’s would see them dominate the mainstream, starting with the double platinum-selling album Celebrate (driven by the international monster hit Celebration, which spent six weeks atop the R&B chart and became a #1 Pop single).

Celebration, which played as the American hostages returned from Iran, remains de rigueur at joyous occasions worldwide. The smashes Get Down On ItTake My HeartLet’s Go DancingJoannaTonightMisled, the #1 R&B, #2 Pop giant Cherish and the #1 R&B anthem Fresh (these last three from the multi- platinum LP Emergency) solidified the group’s international stardom.

In 2014, they were honored with a BET Soul Train Lifetime Achievement Award and in October 2015, in the town they sing about in one of their earliest hits, “Hollywood Swinging,” Kool & the Gang was honored to take their place as American musical icons with a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In 2016, they released a single, "Sexy (Where’d You Get Yours),” which rose to #15 on the Billboard Adult R& B chart. The song signifies a modernization of Kool & the Gang’s unmistakable sound, down to the dance floor-tailored bass grooves and the perfectly timed horns. It was their first airplay chart hit in a decade.

Kool & the Gang’s 50th Anniversary is just around the corner. Here is how they have begun to celebrate the milestone:

Induction into the New Jersey Hall of Fame.

In a touching tribute, a street they grew up on in Jersey City has been renamed in their honor: “Kool & the Gang Way.”

“Celebration” was inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame

Kool’s bass is displayed at the new Smithsonian Institution National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC.

Artifacts from the band’s archive have recently gone on display, next to Count Basie, at the newly- opened Grammy Museum Experience in Newark, NJ.

Induction into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame.

Kool & the Gang continues to delight fans around the globe with their timeless hits and amazing live performances.

Dolly Ramirez is a vocalist/songwriter and Owner/operator of Divine Rebel Music, a music promotion company.  Jean-Jacques (JJ) Schoch is a composer/multi-instrumentalist.  Together, they are the Americana duo, CoolHouse.

Though born in Mexico, Dolly grew up in Los Angeles, raised on the passionate sounds of Ranchera ballads and other Spanish music. From the time she was a little girl, she loved to sing and knew that was all she wanted to do.

She eventually found her way to Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, Whitney Houston, Patsy Cline. Determined to hit every note, she had no idea she was working out and developing those muscles. In time, she got over her debilitating stage-fright when her partner JJ encouraged her to attend and perform Open Mics and local music jams.

Dolly’s voice has been described as having the power of Linda Ronstadt, the soul of Aretha Franklin, and the vulnerability of Brandi Carlile.  She now performs all over Los Angeles with CoolHouse, and as a vocalist in multiple music projects. Dolly loves supporting the music community through Divine Rebel Music, creating intimate and fun opportunities and venues for local musical artists.

An accomplished composer producer, arranger, and songwriter, Jean-Jacques (JJ) Schoch has been involved with music, in one way or another, since he was very young. Raised by musical parents from Switzerland, Jean-Jacques grew up in Bethesda, Maryland outside of Washington D.C., where he studied cello, piano, bass and music composition. While living in the Washington area, he played in traditional orchestras and string quartets, as well as bands playing eclectic blends of jazz, funk, rock and bluegrass.

A modern-day Renaissance man… musician, writer and inventor, Jean-Jacques is at his core a passionate, gifted composer. Blessed with European charm and a wonderful sense of melody, he is fluent on piano, electric & upright bass and guitar. As a singer/songwriter, Jean-Jacques paints offbeat stories delivered in his distinctive vocal style.

JJ has recorded with the Gap Band (on Bass) co-written music with Maurice White of Earth, Wind and Fire, and performed live opening up for Stevie Nicks, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Jackson Browne, Stevie Wonder, Linda Ronstadt, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Taj Mahal, and Gil Scott Heron.

“I have been drawn to the beauty of music since I was a young boy learning to play piano and cello, and started composing and songwriting since I was 12.

MATTY B WOOOO

We all need a Guardian Angel at some point in our lives, but we never know when our Guardian Angel will show up. In my case, she showed up just in the nick of time.

NO CASUALITIES

If you happen to be standing at the FUBAR CROSSROAD of your life, not knowing which direction to go, you can either have a drunk driver hit you head-on at sixty miles an hour or come along with me on my journey from loser to embarking on the road to recovery. If I could do it, you can do it.

A NEW OPPORTUNITY

It took a sixty-mile-an-hour, head-on collision with a drunk driver, when I was twenty-five and waking up ten days later from a coma, massive memory loss, debilitating paralysis and excruciating pain to find myself standing at my FUBAR CROSSROAD. Fortunately, God gave me a do-over.

“I have lived in Los Angeles now since the end of 2013 when I moved from a quiet Northern Californian town where I had a rural lifestyle. I moved here in my late 30’s to do something musical with my life. I wasn’t exactly clear on what form that would take-but my heart always gravitated towards music. I was not born a musician. It took me a very long time to reach the point where I felt good enough to make such a big move. I also came up against many emotional roadblocks in my life that stopped me from following my dreams.

My life has completely changed when I moved to one of the major musical capitals of the world. There are continually MANY challenges, but I get to do something I love every day in the form of writing, performing, recording, traveling and so much more.

In these years, I have performed in many venues, festivals, homes, and as a street performer-I started a project-Music Emerging, where I devote time to the emotional well being of my fellow colleagues in the music industry with my blog, workshops, life coaching and other resources.

I hope to inspire others to work through any fears they may have that stand in the way of their own dreams. I’m excited about sharing my music and stories with others on this fascinating path of the creative and working musician!”

KEN HONDA

the story of happy money

Ken was 29 when he first “retired” to welcome his newborn daughter in the world. At the time, he thought he was “done” with work. He had owned a successful consultant and accounting business, so successful it had allowed him to close up shop and spend his days with the apple of his eye. Little did he realize his “second” career, impacting millions by helping them heal their relationship with money, was about to begin.

That career started innocently enough on a beautiful, sunny day. Ken took his daughter to the park to play. While there, he witnessed a mother and her young daughter, who was about the same age as Ken’s daughter, fighting.

The mother was upset and in a hurry. She yelled, “Your mom has to go to work! So, let’s go home.” But her daughter kept saying, “We just got here. I want to play more. Please?”

After a few minutes of battle, the reluctant girl was dragged home.

Ken felt so terrible for the little girl and her mother for having to choose her job over an afternoon playing with her child, he decided he needed to do something. Not just for that mother but for all the parents and people struggling to make ends meet. He wanted to take away everyone’s pain and frustration and stress around money.

So, that day, after he finished playing with his daughter in the park, he sat down and wrote an essay about all the wisdom he gained over the years about making money and becoming prosperous.

That essay was the start of what would become Happy Money, the book you see here now.

Even as a child, Ken was noticing the difference between happy money and unhappy money.

When he was eight, he worked in his father’s successful accounting practice. His job was to serve the clients tea, which allowed him to get to know his father’s clients.

He saw how some of them were always irritated, rushed and hurried, and others were relaxed and peaceful. He also noticed how over time, some of the clients became more wealthy whereas others went the other way.

In college, he also witnessed this dichotomy in wealthy people–happy and unhappy. This continued until the day he met a woman at a party who described the money in his wallet as “happy money.”

Ah ha!

Money is energy. It can be happy or unhappy.

If you have happy money, you have a happy life. Conversely, if you have unhappy money, you have an unhappy life.

The key to a happy life starts with happy money.

Since then, Ken has impacted millions with his message, selling over 7 million books worldwide.

In my 30's I was completely overwhelmed, I was depressed, I had acne rosacea and felt helpless and hopeless, I also believed the only way out was to die.  However, the universe had other plans, I sought out alternative healers for the acne and they helped me see the bigger picture which shifted my perspective.  It was a truly transformational experience, I stopped looking outside of me and looked within, I had been a total victim to my parents, my husband, media etc. and never knew I had the power to change me.  My life was a vibrational match to my inner discord, a pure reflection of what I thought I deserved, Mirror, Mirror is a guide book to how I became aware of my oh so critical voice and how I challenged and tamed it, I had forgotten how magical life is. The more conscious I became the more I vibrationally shifted from victim to empowerment.  All imbalance is an inside job.
