ARMANDO COMPEAN

Armando Compean, bassist/vocalist/composer and band leader, boasts a career marked with a countless number of collaborations and musical partnerships.  He has had his own voice since the late 1960s when he relocated to Los Angeles.  A native of Houston, Texas, he was born into a musical family and, as a result, was exposed to all types of music and instruments.  His musical journey began with violin lessons at the age of 5 and continued with learning the trumpet, drums and the studying of classical piano for 10 years.  At age 13, he taught himself the guitar, formed his own bands and was fortunate to play with some of the best local blues and jazz musicians in Houston.  After being asked to play the bass in a band, and after hearing bassist Ray Brown with Oscar Peterson and Scott LaFaro with the Bill Evans Trio, Armando completely fell in love with the bass and it became his choice of instrument.  The diversity of his musical background has given him a wide spectrum to draw from for his writing and composing.

Television / Film Credits: Armando has worked with Oscar/Grammy winner T-Bone Burnett playing the bass on such films as WALK THE LINE, starring Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix, ALL THE KING’S MEN, starring Sean Penn, and DIVINE SECRETS OF THE YA YA SISTERHOOD, starring Sandra Bullock and Ellen Burstyn.  Other film credits include HOPE FLOATS, starring Sandra Bullock; L.A. CONFIDENTIAL, starring Russell Crowe and Kevin Spacey; ULEE’S GOLD, starring Peter Fonda; and BECAUSE I SAID SO, starring Diane Keaton.  Television credits include the current TNT show MEMPHIS BEAT, THE DREW CARREY SHOW, 7THHEAVEN, ACCORDING TO JIM, THE JOHNNY CARSON SHOW, and the RICHARD PRYOR SHOW.

Recording / Stage Credits:  Armando can be heard playing the bass on numerous recordings with artists Gillian Welch, A.J. Croce, producer T-Bone Burnett, Taj Mahal, Jennifer Warnes, Coco Montoya, Jon Hartman, M.A.L.T., Pete Snell, Matt Harris, Carmela Rappazzo, Jaye P. Morgan, as well as singing the vocal on jazz guitarist Joe Pass’s C.D. White Stone, to name a few.  Live performances include working with Paul Williams, Cybill Shepherd, Lowell George, Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter, Scott Ellison, Arnette Cobb, Jimmy Ford, Lanny Morgan, Jaye P. Morgan, Texacali Horns.  Featured documentaries include writing and music supervision for the PBS series Over America and Over California.  As a producer, he has worked with a number of artists on their recordings and projects, and also produced and performed on his own C.D.s, “Texas Brown Soul Zone” and “Just For A Thrill.”

INGEZ RAMEAU

Ingez Rameau’s passion for performing goes back to her early childhood when she was cast in an Estonian play while growing up in post-WWII Displaced Persons Camps in Germany. After emigrating with her family to Toronto, Canada and graduating from Humberside Collegiate Institute she continued her studies in the field of Radio & Television Arts at the Ryerson Polytechnical Institute. Ingez subsequently moved to New York, working as an actress and a model, prior to moving to Los Angeles. Some of her credits include Birthday Girl, Stiletto, The Young and the Restless, Days of Our Lives, Dark Justice, and Fame.

For the past five years, Ingez has devoted her life to examining, writing and crafting her experiences growing up in those post-WWII DP Camps. Her journey of survival, discovery and empowerment ultimately formed her 90-minute, one-woman play BURN which debuted at the Actors Forum Theatre in North Hollywood for a 3-week run to standing-room-only audiences.

For Women’s History month in March 2011, a performance of BURN was featured at the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival to a standing ovation. BURN has taken on a life of its own and a book is now in development with guidance from writer/author and coach Christiane Schull. In conjunction with the theme of the play and book, Ingez is embarking on the development of workshops and seminars to break the Code of Silence — a place where men and women can begin their journey from darkness into light.

While living in Europe, Ingez was fortunate to have been exposed to countless different nationalities and languages which helped shape the woman she is today. Her life has been full of diversity, experience and travel and she continues to express her creativity through various art forms. She speaks, reads and writes German, Estonian and French.

Ingez is privileged to have had the guidance of Michael Phillip Edwards on BURN. His direction, experience, soul and sensitivity helped bring her vision to a reality and she is honored to share her story with you.

Guest Biography:

Eleanor Clift is a columnist for the Daily Beast, an online publication. She writes about politics and policy in Washington, and the partisan clashes that make governing almost impossible. Clift has covered every presidential campaign since 1976 and bring her perspective to analyze the dynamics between an unconventional president and his party, and an opposition party still licking its wounds over its loss in 2016. Clift is best known as a panelist on the syndicated talk show, “The McLaughlin Group,” which ended a 34-year run with the death of the host in 2016. She has appeared as herself in several movies, including “Dave,” “Independence Day,” “Murder at 1600,” “Rising Sun,” and the CBS series, “Murphy Brown.” Clift and her late husband, Tom Brazaitis, who was a columnist for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, wrote two books together, “War Without Bloodshed: The Art of Politics” (Scribner, 1996), and “Madam President: Shattering the Last Glass Ceiling (Scribner, 2000). Madam President is available in paperback (Routledge Press). Clift’s book, “Founding Sisters,” is about the passage of the 19th amendment giving women the vote (John Wiley & Sons, 2003). Her recent book, “Two Weeks of Life: A Memoir of Love, Death and Politics” (Basic Books, 2008) is about the loss of her husband together with an examination of how we deal with death in America. “Selecting a President,” written with Matthew Spieler (Thomas Dunne Books), published in 2012, examines the process that for all its flaws is better than the alternative. Formerly Newsweek’s White House correspondent, Clift also served as congressional and political correspondent for six years. She was a key member of the magazine’s 1992 election team, following the campaign of Bill Clinton from the start to inauguration day. In June 1992 she was named Deputy Washington bureau chief.

As a reporter in Newsweek’s Atlanta bureau, Clift covered Jimmy Carter’s bid for the presidency. She followed Carter to Washington to become Newsweek’s White House correspondent, a position she held until 1985. Clift began her career as a secretary to Newsweek’s National Affairs editor in New York. She was one of the first women at the magazine to move from secretary to reporter. Clift left Newsweek briefly in 1985 to serve as White House correspondent for The Los Angeles Times. She returned to Newsweek the following year to cover the Iran-Contra scandal, which embroiled President Reagan and tarnished his administration. Clift covered every presidential campaign since 1976, and was part of Newsweek’s special project team following the 1984, 2000, 2004 and 2008 elections, each of which resulted in a book. The most recent, “A Long Time Coming,” written by Evan Thomas and based on the Newsweek team’s reporting (Public Affairs, 2009) chronicles the history-making campaign of Barack Obama. Clift lives in Washington, D.C., where she is on the advisory council of the International Women’s Media Foundation, the board of the American News Women’s Club, the Board of Governor’s of the National Hospice Foundation, and the board of Respect Ability, which advocates for people with disabilities.

What I say ……

I have enjoyed many achievements in my life and am grateful for each of them – even my failures because through them I grew and stretched. But aside from adopting my two daughters – nothing fills me with such excitement and sense of accomplishment and purpose as helping women transform their perception of themselves and find their true inner beauty, freeze it for them and present it to them as a gift to cherish their whole lives. When a client says to me “feeling beautiful today made me feel like I can conquer anything!!”I want to bow my head in reverent gratitude for being a part of this amazing process. Sometimes I wish I were filthy rich so I wouldn’t even have to charge for this (…but I’m not….just sayin’).

What humbles me the most is the trust my clients give me – to coax, ever so gently - their fragile, beautiful selves out and encourage it to bloom and embrace all its fullness and magnificence. It’s an amazing experience to be part of. The connection I have with my clients is sacred and makes the whole experience much more than just a photo shoot – much more than just taking a photograph.

Celebrating … beauty!

Guest Biography:

Hello, my name is Lorie Johnson and I am a psychic medium. In addition to that, I am also a clairvoyant, empath, channeler, automatic writer, aura reading, medical intuitive, and shaman. I also have the ability to communicate with animals. I have many guides and guardians, including the seven Archangels and call upon them regularly to protect me whenever needed.

I have been seeing spirits since the age of two and had an experience at the age of six where I saw three spirits laying on cots. I was able to spell the burning flesh and assumed this was their way of telling me how they died. One spirit interacted with me and I later realized that this spirit was a guardian of mine.

When spirits come to me they take the form of silhouettes and I can see and speak to them. Sometimes they come to me seeking help wanting to get a message to a loved one that it is still living. These spirits see the light around me and know that they can trust me. I’ve even been told that spirits that are angry are scared of me because they know I am not afraid of them and I will not be intimidated…I see their truth.

When I do my readings for clients I have to tell them upfront that they cannot hide anything from me. I see it, hear it, and feel it. In order to help one unlock their Pandora’s Box I have to walk their life and uncover whatever secrets are hidden. Not everyone likes what they are told but what comes forward by their loved ones that have passed isn’t about me nor do I judge. I am a very blunt person. If I see it I say it. If they say it I tell it. I’m just the messenger and honestly, after it’s all over with I don’t even remember what is said. If I held on to all that I have seen and heard I would be living everyone’s life that I’ve ever read.

I have helped in many police cases dealing with missing children and runaways. I have a strong passion for helping kids and the elderly as these two groups have a hard time speaking for themselves.

I love my gifts and who I am. God made me this way for a reason and I will continue to use these gifts given to me by Him to help anyone that comes to me.

Terry Hollimon also known as T-Holla, grew up with in an athletic family. Both him and his brothers played college football and his dad played professional football. Having a passion for acting and entertaining, his peers remembered him as a thespian in high school. With football being his number one passion, acting and entertaining would be considered his 1-A. His family fully supports the Barbershop Movement for what it represents and because they know how much entertaining and football means to him. His family considers it a blessing that Terry gets to enjoy doing what he loves for a living.

It was tough at first in the beginning to have people understand their vision and to see what they were talking about. They wanted to create a platform where they can talk about sports in a fashion where it is understandable to the average person. The average soccer mom can understand a football game better by listening to the Barbershop then they can from someone who has been talking football for the last 15 to 20 years. That was their biggest hurdle.

His long term goal for the Barbershop is to see it grow and to be on television with a worldwide audience

Fun Facts: He got to meet Marcus Trufant through his younger brother who played football with Marcus in college. Terry is a HUGE family man!

Founder Neveen has a passion in fashion, beauty, community development and entrepreneurship, and is currently on a Foundation Domination World Tour 2018-2019, sharing her Flawless Makeup, Skin Care Kits, and Cosmetic Business Essentials. She has an inspiring story!

Hailing from South Sudan, Neveen Dominic often struggled to find cosmetic products made for her ebony skin tone. With so many cosmetics companies touting their foundations' "wide range" of skin tones, Dominic was often let down when she found that these same companies' color ranges so often stopped short at "mocha."

She remembers the days she struggled to find any products to suite her skin tone and although she was passionate about beauty, the limited product choices made it hard to achieve that glam look every girl dreams of. The job of perfecting the complexion is even more daunting for dark skinned women, who often have to perfect intricate makeup techniques or are left without being able to wear makeup at all.  She noticed that even professional makeup artists shied away from taking clients with deep skin tones because of the limitations in their own product offerings. When Neveen saw other dark skinned women turn towards extreme methods such as skin bleaching to fit more Eurocentric standards of beauty, she knew that the issue was more than skin deep.

Fed up with having to compromise, Mrs. Dominic created Neveen Dominic Cosmetics with the goal of making all women look and feel beautiful, regardless of skin tone. The philanthropist and entrepreneur had a vision for celebrating and embracing multifaceted beauty and making accessible cosmetics for diverse women.

Naveen is the author of "Beauty from the Ashes of War: Testimony of God's Love and Dreams Come True", and the recipient of the True Beauty Foundations's "Woman of Inspiration and Impact Community Spirit Award", and one of 23 finalists for the 2018 Mompreneur awards.

Guest Occupation: Contactee, Paranomal Photographer, Elemental Communicator
Guest Biography:

"Cheryl from Texas" has an extraordinary ability to connect in with the multi and ultra dimensional worlds.  Her gift started at a very young age and along with a photographic memory she was constantly receiving guidance from what as a child she called "from those above."  When adults would ask her a question, her "folks from above" would telepathically give her the answers which led the adults to think she was exceptionally bright.

Although her grandmother was intuitive and her grandfather had a genius I.Q. they discounted her sightings until one time, at the age of 15 when Cheryl was in the woods walking with her Grandfather he saw her "friends" plain as day...it scared him and they never talked about it afterwards.

She remembers small green beings coming to the window, place their faces near the glass and smile.  Her Mother, being very religious, would have none of it even though two children of her mother's friends swore they also saw Star Craft with her.

Cheryl went through various stages of wanting to fit in, wanting to be normal and during those times her ultra-dimensional friends honored her wishes and pulled back, but she knew they were always around her.  They were near yet no longer conversing telepathically and their level of protection was not as strong.

Now she celebrates her connection with the elementals, the fairies, the elves, dwarves, small folk and of course the Galactic Beings.  Cheryl is honored that they allow her to take photos...she sees them in a field that looks like parallel world's converging.

Her honoring of the elemental realm includes not cutting trees except with their permission to trim, leaving tall grass for the small folk and the animal kingdom and communicating with the elementals when work on the land needs to be done to be in harmony with all living there.

Cheryl frequently experiences plasma, organic and metallic ships flying over her home.  There have been many interactions between military craft and the Galactic Craft where she lives.  Her photos of orbs, plasma craft and Light Beings are spectacular.

Cheryl's main message is to the importance of raising awareness that we are not alone...we share space with so many beings.  Being kind to all sentient beings is important.  The more we are kind to each other...to Mother Earth..to animals...to the plant beings...to the elementals...the more we raise our consciousness and vibrations which allows us to see and interact with Beings from all dimensions.

Bill was brought up in Wilmette, Illinois. He graduated from New Trier High School, which was the top public high school in the country at the time. He went to Illinois State University and received a communications degree. Bill has the highest-level ham radio operator’s license. He is also an audiophile and musician. For the Chicago area, Bill’s booking agency handled bands ranging from Dixieland, Rock and Roll, Disco, Big Band, and small group jazz.

The Spindrift research has been helpful in showing that aspects of prayer and consciousness are real phenomena and not the human imagination. Spindrift studied the positive effects, biased effects, and the dark effects coming from people’s prayers. An historical tidbit is that before 9/11, Spindrift tried to advise people to pay attention to the words in the dark prayers that militant Muslims prayed toward Jews and Americans.

The word Spindrift means the fast-moving spray atop an ocean wave during a powerful storm.

Spindrift points out: scientifically it is shocking to think of a force as intelligent, loving, kind, good, and aware of needs. The research suggested that prayer somehow linked to a loving Intelligence moved organisms toward their norms.

The current pick from the Ions' staff:
A Journey Into Prayer by Bill Sweet

This book documents the inspiring and cautionary true story of Bruce and John Klingbeil, a father and son team of devout Christian Scientists who dared to test their faith in the power of prayer, and of Spindrift, the research organization that helped to support their efforts.  The story describes the Klingbeils’ courage and personal commitment to learn the truth about the efficacy of prayer, their self-taught but ingenious experiments, the staggering hostility they attracted from both the religious and the scientific communities, and ultimately, the unbearable poignancy in their untimely and mysterious deaths.

As the former president of the Spindrift Research Group, Bill Sweet has been involved in the Spindrift study of the positive and negative aspects of prayer phenomena. The positive research suggested prayer was somehow linked to a loving Intelligence and was a normalizing force. The negative research suggested a negative intention in prayer was a destructive force.
