Plus...the Chavez government\'s acquisition of attack helicopters, Sukhoi fighter planes and 100,000 Kalashnikov assault rifles...should help them to defend themselves against any moves by the U.S. military...We\'ve made aggressive moves in South America, Eastern Europe, the Middle East & all over the World, but Russia\'s tunnel under the Bering Strait connecting Siberia to Alaska, Obama giving them permission to drill for Oil in the Gulf of Mexico -- that in addition to the former Clinton Administration inviting *their* Generals over for a grand tour of our military installations, including NORAD & Rocky Flats, and the Open Skies Treaty allowing *their* military to fly over the U.S. and photograph anything they wanted to closely examine, plus the fact that while Bubba-Boy was busy downsizing & feminizing our military, Russia was breaking every arms & nuclear reduction treaty we made with them -- just sorta makes one wonder who\'s been doing the \"tit\" and who\'s been doing the \"tat\"...Interesting how TPTB & the noble Blue Bloods in Europe have pitted the U.S. & Russia against each other.  Must be a nice view sitting in the Cat Bird\'s Seat, but some sitting at Ground Zero may see things a little differently...  [ OLD LINK REMOVED ]

Matt Schroeder, a missile expert at the Federation of American Scientists in Washington, said the missiles are among the most sophisticated in the world and can down aircraft from 19,000 feet.

\"It\'s the largest recorded transfer in the U.N. arms registry database in five years, at least. There\'s no state in Latin America of greater concern regarding leakage that has purchased so many missiles,\" he said, referring to reports of Venezuelan arms flowing to Colombian guerrillas...

Secret American cables said that the United States was concerned about the Chavez government\'s acquisition of Russian arms, which also included attack helicopters, Sukhoi fighter planes and 100,000 Kalashnikov assault rifles...
