"United we stand, Divided we fall" is a phrase that has been used in mottos, from nations and states to songs. The basic concept is that unless the people are united, it is easy to destroy them. This is a counter to the maxim divide and rule.

Early Use

The phrase has been attributed to Aesop, both directly in his fable The Four Oxen and the Tiger and indirectly from The Bundle of Sticks.

The first attributed use in modern times is to John Dickinson in his revolutionary war song The Liberty Song. In the song, first published in the Boston Gazette in July 1768, he wrote: “Then join hand in hand, brave Americans all! By uniting we stand, by dividing we fall!” This was also said by George Washington at the time of the start of the Constitution.

Patrick Henry used the phrase in his last public speech, given in March 1799, in which he denounced The Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions. Clasping his hands and swaying unsteadily, Henry declaimed, “Let us trust God, and our better judgment to set us right hereafter. United we stand, divided we fall. Let us not split into factions which must destroy that union upon which our existence hangs.” At the end of his oration, Henry fell into the arms of bystanders and was carried almost lifeless into a nearby tavern. Two months afterward, he was dead.

Mottos

Kentucky's second governor, Isaac Shelby, was particularly fond of the stanza from the Liberty Song. Since 1942, this phrase is the official non-Latin state motto of Kentucky. (In 2002, the Kentucky legislature approved an official Latin motto, Deo gratiam habeamus, "Let us be grateful to God").

On the Missouri flag, the phrase is also stated surrounding the center circle.

India's Founding Fathers

This statement was also a commonly used political phrase used to garner support within India during its struggle for independence from the British Empire.

Ulster Loyalism

The motto is also used by Ulster loyalists, and can be seen in some loyalist Northern Irish murals.

Popular Culture

The lyrics "United we stand, divided we fall" are featured in the song "United We Stand" performed by The Brotherhood of Man (written by Tony Hiller and Peter Simons). This song was also performed by Sonny and Cher and Elton John. Also, in the song Hey You performed and written by the band Pink Floyd a similar term with the same meaning, "Together we stand Divided we fall", is used. In the Sum 41 song "Confusion And Frustration In Modern Times", the phrase "Divided we stand, Together we fall" is used. New York Hardcore punk band Agnostic Front use the lyrics "United we stand, divided we fall, Gotta gotta go" in their song "Gotta Go", which was featured on Punk-O-Rama Vol. 3. Also, the dutch band "Heideroosjes" use the lyrics in their song "Time is Ticking Away". It is also used in The Dropkick Murphys' "Boy's on the Docks". The 3rd Mission in Operation flashpoint Dragon rising is called "United we stand". A slightly different version is mentioned by the heavy metal band Judas Priest in his song "United" ("united we stand, united we never shall fall").

In politics and sociology, divide and rule (derived from Latin divide et impera) (also known as divide and conquer) is a combination of political, military and economic strategy of gaining and maintaining power by breaking up larger concentrations of power into chunks that individually have less power than the one implementing the strategy. In reality, it often refers to a strategy where small power groups are prevented from linking up and becoming more powerful, since it is difficult to break up existing power structures.

The maxims divide et impera or divide ut regnes are traditionally identified with the principle of government of the Old French Republic. This attribution is not entirely reliable, insofar as the Roman ruler, Caesar, also used this tactic in earlier times. It is, however, borne out by the example of Gabinius parting the Jewish nation into five conventions, reported by Flavius Josephus in Book I, 169-170 of The Wars of the Jews (De bello Judaico). Likewise, Strabo reports in Geography, 8.7.3, that the Achaean League was gradually dissolved under the Roman possession of the whole of Greece, owing to them not dealing with the several states in the same way, but wishing to preserve some and to destroy others.

In modern times, Traiano Boccalini cites "Divide et impera" in La bilancia politica, 1,136 and 2,225 as a common principle in politics. The use of this technique is meant to empower the sovereign to control subjects, populations, or factions of different interests, who collectively might be able to oppose his rule. Machiavelli identifies a similar application to military strategy, advising in Book VI of The Art of War (Dell'arte della guerra), that a Captain should endeavor with every art to divide the forces of the enemy, either by making him suspicious of his men in whom he trusted, or by giving him cause that he has to separate his forces, and, because of this, become weaker.

The strategy of division and rule has been attributed to sovereigns ranging from Louis XI to the Habsburgs. Its historical reception has been mixed. Thus Edward Coke denounces it in Chapter I of the Fourth Part of the Institutes, reporting that when it was demanded by the Lords and Commons what might be a principal motive for them to have good success in Parliament, it was answered: "Eritis insuperabiles, si fueritis inseparabiles. Explosum est illud diverbium: Divide, & impera, cum radix & vertex imperii in obedientium consensus rata sunt." You would be insuperable if you were inseparable. This proverb, Divide and rule, has been rejected, since the root and the summit of authority are confirmed by the consent of the subjects. On the other hand, in a minor variation, Sir Francis Bacon touts the cunning maxim of "separa et impera" in a letter to James I of 15 February 1615. Likewise James Madison recommends in a letter to Thomas Jefferson of 24 October 1787, summarizing the thesis of The Federalist #10: "Divide et impera, the reprobated axiom of tyranny, is under certain qualifications, the only policy, by which a republic can be administered on just principles." In Perpetual Peace: A Philosophical Sketch by Immanuel Kant (1795), Appendix one. divide et impera is the third of three political maxims. The other being Fac et excusa and Si fecisti, nega. Typical elements of this technique are said to involve

Creating or encouraging divisions among the subjects in order to forestall alliances that could challenge the sovereign.

Aiding and promoting those who are willing to cooperate with the sovereign.

Fostering distrust and enmity between local rulers.

Encouraging frivolous expenditures that leave little money for political and military ends.

The use of this strategy was imputed to administrators of vast empires, including the Roman and British, who were charged with playing one tribe against another to maintain control of their territories with a minimal number of imperial forces. The concept of "Divide and Rule" gained prominence when India was a part of the British Empire, but was also used to account for the strategy used by the Romans to take Britain, and for the Anglo-Normans to take Ireland. It is said that the British used the strategy to gain control of the large territory of India by keeping its people divided along lines of religion, language, or caste, taking control of petty princely states in India piecemeal.

Also mentioned as a strategy for market action in economics, it can be applied to get the most out of the players in a competitive market.

Examples of Divide and Conquer Strategies

Western countries have used the divide and conquer strategy in Africa during the colonial and post-colonial period.

Germany and Belgium both ruled Rwanda and Burundi in a colonial capacity. Germany used the strategy of divide and conquer by placing members of the Tutsi minority in positions of power.

When Belgium took over in 1916, the Tutsi and Hutu groups were rearranged according to race rather than by occupation. Belgium defined "Tutsi" as anyone with more than ten cows or a long nose, while "Hutu" meant someone with less than ten cows and a broad nose. The socioeconomic divide between Tutsis and Hutus continued after independence and was a major factor in the Rwandan Genocide.

When the British Empire ruled Sudan, it restricted access between the North and the South. The British also neglected to develop southern Sudan or include southern Sudanese in governance. The disparity between the North and South helped lead to the First and Second Sudanese Civil Wars. See also History of the Anglo-Egyptian Condominium.

During British rule of Nigeria from 1900 to 1960 different regions were frequently reclassified for administrative purposes. The British used conflict between Igbo and Hausa as a means of consolidating their power in the region. Regional, ethnic, and religious splits remain a barrier to uniting Nigeria. Cyprus

Cyprus was placed under British control on 4 June 1878 as a result of the Cyprus Convention, which granted control of the island to Britain in return for British support of the Ottoman Empire in the Russian-Turkish War.

Famagusta harbour was completed in June 1906; by this time the island was a strategic naval outpost for the British Empire, shoring up influence over the Eastern Mediterranean and Suez Canal, the crucial main route to India.

A British colonial strategy was to keep the Greek Cypriot majority and Turkish Cypriot minority of the island separate and discourage intermingling. The British hoped and succeeded to strengthen their hold on this strategically important colony.

Cyprus Independence was attained in 1960 after exhaustive negotiations between the United Kingdom, as the colonial power, and Greece and Turkey, the cultural 'motherlands' for both of the communities in Cyprus. The UK ceded the island under a constitution allocating government posts and public offices by ethnic quota, but retained two Sovereign Base Areas. The British drafted constitution reflected mutual distrust bred earlier between the communities by the colonial power. Today, two British Sovereign Base Areas are found in Cyprus and the divide et impera effects endure as the Cyprus dispute.

Europe

The first large-scale application of this rule was in Macedonia.  Romans entered Macedonia from the south and helped by Latin, Italian and Greek allies, they defeated King Perseus of Macedon in the battle of Pydna in 168 BC. Immediately afterwards, they divided Macedonia into four republics that were heavily restricted from intercourse or trade with one another and with Greece. There was a ruthless purge, with allegedly anti-Roman citizens being denounced by their compatriots and deported in large numbers.

Following the October revolution, the Bolsheviks engaged at various times in alliances with the Left Socialist-Revolutionaries, certain anarchists, and various non-Russian ethnic nationalist groups, against the White movement, Right Socialist-Revolutionaries, and other anarchist and ethnic nationalist groups. This was done in the context of establishing the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (the Bolshevik party) as the sole legal party in the Soviet Union. Similar shifting alliances were played out amongst various dissident factions within the CPSU, such as the Workers Opposition and Left Communists, with Joseph Stalin and his supporters gaining absolute power within the party by the mid-1920s.

The Salami strategy of Hungarian Communist leader, Mátyás Rákosi

Alliances with various parties played a role in the Nazi Machtergreifung and Gleichschaltung, the seizure and consolidation of total power by the National Socialist German Workers Party. The Enabling Act, which banned the Communist and Social Democratic parties, was supported by the Nazi's coalition partner, the German National People's Party, as well as by the Centre Party. Several months later, these parties were themselves banned, along with all other political parties other than the NSDAP.

India

The British employed "Divide and Rule" in British India as a means of preventing an uprising against the Raj. The partition of India is often attributed to these policies.

In his historical survey Constantine's Sword, James P. Carroll writes,

"Typically, imperial powers depend on the inability of oppressed local populations to muster a unified resistance, and the most successful occupiers are skilled at exploiting the differences among the occupied. Certainly that was the story of the British Empire's success, and its legacy of nurtured local hatreds can be seen wherever the Union Flag flew, from Muslim-Hindu hatred in Pakistan and India, to Catholic-Protestant hatred in Ireland, to, yes, Jew-Arab, hatred in modern Israel. [Ancient] Rome was as good at encouraging internecine resentments among the occupied as Britain ever was."

As has been noted by numerous scholars of British rule in India, the physical presence of the British in India was not significant. Yet, for almost two centuries, the British were able to rule two-thirds of the subcontinent directly, and exercise considerable leverage over the Princely States that accounted for the remaining one-third. While the strategy of divide and conquer was used most effectively, an important aspect of British rule in India was the psychological indoctrination of an elite layer within Indian society who were artfully tutored into becoming model British subjects. This English-educated layer of Indian society was craftily encouraged in absorbing values and notions about themselves and their land of birth that would be conducive to the British occupation of India, and furthering British goals of looting India's physical wealth and exploiting its labour.

Macaulay, in his minutes, says: "We must do our best to form a class who may be interpreters between us and the millions whom we govern, a class of persons Indian in blood and colour, but English in taste, in opinions, words and intellect." As the architect of Colonial Britain's Educational Policy in India, Thomas Macaulay was to set the tone for what educated Indians were going to learn about themselves, their civilization, and their view of Britain and the world around them. An arch-racist, Thomas Macaulay had nothing but scornful disdain for Indian history and civilization. In his infamous minute of 1835, in which he argued that Indians would be best served by a western education in the English language, he wrote that he had "never found one among them (speaking of Orientalists, an opposing political faction) who could deny that a single shelf of a good European library was worth the whole native literature of India and Arabia". "It is, no exaggeration to say, that all the historical information which has been collected from all the books written in Sanskrit language is less valuable than what may be found in the most paltry abridgments used at preparatory schools in England".

Middle East

The Sykes-Picot Agreement

Some argue that the development and propagation of the Bahai faith in the 1920s and onwards was a distinctly British tactic designed to add another "religious minority" to the Muslim fabric of the Middle-East, most notably in Iran and other lands with an Iranian populace.

One of the many factors contributing to the approval of an increase in Jewish immigration to Palestine was motivated by a desire to maintain British dominance in the Middle East by Foreign Secretary Arthur James Balfour in 1917. The first Governor of Jerusalem Sir Ronald Storrs stated that Israel "will form for England a little loyal Jewish Ulster in a sea of potentially hostile Arabism."

Israel has supported Kurdish groups in Iraq, Syria, and Iran. The Israeli foreign-intelligence agency, Mossad, has allegedly conducted covert operations in Kurdish areas such as by training Kurdish guerrillas (or terrorists). This is denied by the Israeli government, yet supported by an anonymous source in the CIA. This is viewed as a means to reduce the power of anti-Israeli governments.

 

During Israel's occupation of southern Lebanon Israel installed the South Lebanon Army, a Christian-led proxy militia, to manage a 12-mile wide occupied zone along the border. Israel supplied the SLA with arms and resources to fight Lebanese resistance forces led by Hizbullah. Israel also used the Phalange as a proxy militia to fight Shia Lebanese and the Palestine Liberation Organization. This partly resulted in the infamous Sabra and Shatila Massacre, in which hundreds, if not thousands, of Palestinian refugees and Lebanese Muslims were killed by Christian Phalangists, allowed to enter while the Israeli Defense Force surrounded the camps.

Robert Dreyfuss's Devil's Game presents the support of Islamic Radicalism as a tool against Communists and pro-Soviet Pan-Arabism. He also sees this aspect in Israel's early support of Hamas against Palestine Liberation Organization. Foreign Affairs's review criticizes the author's view as including flaws.

Intentional Communities

The Zetas have emphasized that survival after the pole shift is enhanced if one lives in a Service-to-Other community, where all share resources, offer their skill sets for the general good, care for and protect the sick and injured, and defend one another.

Regarding how mankind can prepare themselves. Small cooperative groups, operating in Service-to- Others, where the concerns of all are the concerns of each, will have the best chances. Most important is a cooperative attitude among the group, with a willingness to undertake distasteful tasks, a desire to share among all what little there may be, and a positive attitude toward the future. Sunlight may be Scarce, so crops grown under artificial light will be most abundant. Rivers and seas may be poisoned, what with the volcanic dust falling everywhere, so fish tanks fed from algae grown in human sewage will likewise be most abundant. Certain crops fair better and go further than others. Good cooks, skilled at making the plain fare tasty, will be much appreciated. A natural way of life reminiscent of life during the last century. It is no small matter to have music, poetry, and art. This fills the heart of the musician, poet, or artist as much as the recipient. There will be much need for such distraction, as the days will be dim, and the nights dark and long.

Are such communities in existence today?

As evidence that the collective conscious is thinking along these lines, in the decades leading into the pole shift, are the many plans to form such communities.

Such communities are often called Intentional Communities, because they are formed with predetermined rules and structure in mind.

OASHPE, A TRUE CHANNELED BOOK

In 1882, an Ohio Dentist named John Ballou penned the book The Oashpe, a true channeled book.

The book has a Biblical tone, done on purpose so that the locals in the Bible Belt would be encouraged to read it.

But there the semblance drops!

I quote from the cover page,

Oahspe, a new Bible in the Words of Jehovih and his Angel Embassadors.

A sacred history of the dominions of the higher and lower heavens on the Earth for the past twenty-four thousand years, together with a synopsis of the cosmogony of the universe; the creation of planets; the creation of man; the unseen worlds; the labor and glory of gods and goddesses in the etherean heavens.

The book covers reincarnation, the interaction of aliens with humans and human cultures, and why the US Government was assisted to become a democracy in the past.

The Oashpe confirms pole shift history, calling Planet X the Red Star, and details the pole shift that sunk Atlantis, and describes why Atlantis was doomed, and portents the coming pole shift.

The Aftertime, with its many orphans, is described, along with the polarization of the good hearted from the selfish into different camps.

The Oashpe is not easy to read, due to its style, but its meaning is clear enough.

Lets start with the description of the Planet of the Crossing, Niburi, also known as Planet X or Marduk or Wormwood and in Sitchin's books as the 12th Planet.

The Oashpe calls it the Red Star.

Per the Zetas, the sling orbit of Planet X has been in place from the start, coming out of the Big Bang.

The Oashpe spends a great deal of time emphasizing this, that it is actions, not words, that count.

and the result of the actions, showing the true intent, should be examined.

The Book of Judgment

 

03. And thou be a rich man, and adorn a city by donating unto it a park, with statuary and pleasure-walks, hoping to glorify thyself thereby, and be praised by men; therein thyself burieth thyself in the first resurrection. And the act lowereth thy grade instead of raising it.

12. The measure of righteousness of that man's behavior was not in giving what he had to the poor, but in the good and evil that came of it, being weighed, as to which outbalanced the other.

21. The Creator hath given you hands to work with; come ye, be men and women.


22. And they went and worked and earned their living.


23. Judgment is rendered in favor of that man, for he raised the spiritual grade of the poor. This is a beneficence that extendeth into heaven.


24. Let thy charity be to the sick and helpless, but be thou wise in directing the able bodied to help themselves.


25. For all charity tendeth to lower the self-respect of the receiver, and casteth him lower in the grades in heaven.


28. Better is it for thee and for them, that thou arouse them from their degradation.
30. Consider not so much what thou shalt do to raise thine own grade, but what thou canst do to raise the grade of those within thy reach.


31. Remember, all men and women are thy brothers and sisters, and thou shalt labor to make them make themselves a glory unto the Creator.

The Zetas likewise have little respect for organized religion, which is full of rules and little compassion and especially where the Catholic church is concerned, seeks to gain riches from the poor.

We have, throughout the life of ZetaTalk, spoken of organized religion as preaching not love and empathy and the practices that Jesus taught, but insisting on control and rules and suppression by fear - excommunication, kept from Heaven, exiled from the comforts that the Church claims it can provide. Pedophilia is protected while the use of contraception in marriage is a sin. Protecting the wealth of the Church for the use of the elite within the Church is a prime concern, while demands are made on the poor to support the Church.

QUESTION: Would the Zetas care to comment on the recent election of the new Pope; what really went on in the secret conclave; how this particular Pope got himself elected; and whether the world is any closer to a true revelation about the End Times or not?

ANSWER: Pope selection is at its base a political process, and thus its secrecy. What were the politics during this last selection, where an ex-NAZI, a Hitler youth, a member of Hitler’s armed forces, was elevated? Known as an ultra-conservative, known as the enforcer of papal edicts on disclosure of pedophilia abuse, his signature on memos reminding Bishops of their duty in this matter, his fingerprints in recent times are likewise revealing of a brutal and suppressive nature. We have, throughout the life of ZetaTalk, spoken of organized religion as preaching not love and empathy and the practices that Jesus taught, but insisting on control and rules and suppression by fear - excommunication, kept from Heaven, exiled from the comforts that the Church claims it can provide. We have also, from the start of ZetaTalk, mentioned that polarizing of good vs evil, what we term Service-to-Other behavior vs Service-to-Self, will be on the increase during the Transformation, and is already in process. Those in the Service-to-Self circle their wagons, sensing that they are losing, their grip slipping, tightening their secrecy rules and becoming suspicious even of each other so that plots and schemes abound in the halls of the powerful, and vicious attacks to eliminate perceived threats evident. Beyond the paranoia and tight cliques, there is concern about those in the general populace that the Service-to-Self group have influence over. This as is true of the Church as it is of political control in various countries. We have described this as breakaway consternation where restlessness in those they control, the populace lifting their eyes to the horizon and sensing freedom from rules and constraints, is viewed with horror by their essential slave masters. Those who question this view, the Church as slave masters, should spend a day walking in the shoes of those raised Catholic, the number of rituals and rules followed, the lack of compassion and pain that results, and the threat of punishment if they try to escape. Among Catholics, this is termed excommunication and being dammed to Hell. The Catholic Church is at its base a financial institution, with each faithful Catholic an asset, and these assets under bondage.

Given that, what factors lead to the choice of Cardinal Ratzinger as Pope?

The first reaction of those losing control is to tighten their grip, so the choice of an ultra-conservative could be presumed. In these matters, emotion, the fear of loss and rage over loss of control, rides over logic. If Catholics in the US and Europe are leaving the Church in droves, a lighter hand over matters such as abortion or contraception would be a logical move, but the emotional urge is to punish the escaping flock, and sexual matters have always been a weapon within the Church. We have explained that those in the Service-to-Self, which many at the helm of the Church are, glory in their power and the proof of that power is the ability to cause misery in others. Thus, the sadist, who causes pain in horrific ways simply to prove that he can do it. View the Church’s rulings on abortion, placing the mother’s life in consideration, and especially contraception, where married couples are forbidden from preventing unwanted additions to the family, regardless of hardship even including death of the mother should she conceive again, and where prevention of AIDS is a secondary consideration to following the absolute edicts of the Church. Yet pedophilia is protected, continued by secrecy, at the highest levels within the Church.

The second reaction of those losing control is to tighten alliances. Where it would seem that a German Pope would not please Israel, or might displease others factions wanting their nation so honored, alliances are not so obvious. This is an alliance of those determined to dominate the common man, enslave them, retain unquestioning control, and in this regard Pope Ratzinger has a similar view to those controlling the White House at present, those in control in Israel, those in control of Russia, and is in psychological alliance with many in the banking empires. If those in control are threatened by the common man realizing that Planet X is about to devastate the Earth, is in the vicinity and is well known by the elite, then the cover-up must, at all costs, continue. Thus, any revelation of the Fatima Third Secret will not occur, the cover-up in the Church assured of continuing. Vatican told bishops to cover up sex abuse [Apr 17] http://observer.guardian.co.uk/ ‘The Vatican instructed Catholic bishops around the world to cover up cases of sexual abuse or risk being thrown out of the Church. The Observer has obtained a 40-year-old confidential document from the secret Vatican archive. Bearing the seal of Pope John XXIII was sent to every bishop in the world. The instructions outline a policy of 'strictest' secrecy in dealing with allegations of sexual abuse and threatens those who speak out with excommunication. They also call for the victim to take an oath of secrecy at the time of making a complaint to Church officials. It states that the instructions are to 'be diligently stored in the secret archives of the Curia [Vatican] as strictly confidential. Lawyers point to a letter the Vatican sent to bishops in May 2001 clearly stating the 1962 instruction was in force until then. The letter is signed by Cardinal Ratzinger, the most powerful man in Rome beside the Pope and who heads the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith - the office which ran the Inquisition in the Middle Ages.’ [Note: regarding the pedophilia coverup, the new Pope will ensure it.]

ZetaTalk: Increasing Dichotomy, Note: written Nov 15, 1995

The possibility of having both spiritual orientations, side by side on a 4th Density world, does exist. This situation occurs when there is a degree of indecision on the part of the incarnated entities, so that temporary switching between the orientations is anticipated. Such a situation may take place on your Earth, where for instance the Continents of Africa and South America, currently targeted by visitors in the Service-to-Self, would be dedicated to serve as a home for humans who have moved sufficiently toward the Service-to-Self to be considered destined for that orientation during 4th Density, but the rest of the Earth would migrate toward the Service-to-Other orientation which the majority of the Earth and her peoples have chosen. This dichotomy also exists where such worlds have matured in their spiritual orientations to the point where switching is no longer anticipated, but the lessons of the higher densities are continuing and the orientations are sufficiently segregated. No need to make any changes, as all is going well.

This type of dichotomy will, of course, exist on the Earth during the Transformation period, which is now. Increasingly, the orientations separate of their own accord, as those in the Service-to-Other expel those who are not truly in the Service-to-Other and those in the Service-to-Self find compliance with the desire for a rigid pecking order only among those also in the Service-to-Self. The migration toward this dichotomy will increase in pace as the Transformation proceeds. At first there is a virtual homogeneous mix of the orientations, equivalent to the grade school environment where all youngsters are enrolled. Human society assumes all members to be equal, in general granting all members the same rights, and it is only by particular behavior, such as a crime, that this status changes. Criminals are then segregated with each other, but all other humans are fairly homogeneous. Thus, rules protecting the members from one another are in place, though not necessary among the truly Service-to-Other oriented and usually not sufficient among the Service-to-Self oriented.

During the Transformation the Service-to-Others find each other and take up abiding with each other, to the exclusion of abiding with those who are still spiritually undecided. Of course, as these individuals are usually a mainstay for others, the spiritually undecided clamor for their time and attention, but are increasingly given self help instructions and sent on their way. In fact, the spiritually undecided find the environment provided in a Service-to-Other community to be a drag, dull. No confrontations, everyone dedicated and preoccupied, just not lively enough. The Service-to-Self are generally driven from the ranks of both the Service-to-Other and the spiritually undecided as they are today. At times it takes awhile for them to show their colors, but this is quite inevitable.

Thus, those in the Service-to-Self find themselves banding together by necessity, and establishing the pecking order is the first order of the day. The spiritually undecided, larger in number, protect themselves from these marauding bands as they do today, by keeping guard and standing firm. In the chaotic world that will exist after the cataclysms these groups will shoot first and ask questions later, and will be left alone by the Service-to-Self who will pick on each other by preference. Those solidly in the Service-to- Self are often the biggest cowards, just as, when given the opportunity, they can be the biggest bullies - two sides of the same coin. The Service-to-Other groups also defend themselves, usually by fair warning and disabling and returning to their band the Service-to-Self who has wandered into their midst. Do they not find themselves perpetually harassed by the Service-to-Self? In fact, as Service-to-Other communities are highly efficient, the perimeters prove to be impermeable, and thus by reputation they soon find they have earned their peace. In this, the Oashpe was giving a test, to determine who is willing to take action, true action that would be STO.

The proof is simple. Go into a messy human situation, into poverty, disease, helping the lowest of mankind as Mother Theresa did in India, living among them. One does not have far to go for this, as misery is everywhere. If one balks, makes excuses, cannot stay for more than a moment, then you have your answer!

Per the Oashpe, the STO communities after the pole shift will have no need of managers, salesmen, lawyers, accountants, stock brokers, bankers, or soldiers.
But those in all other professions and trades will find a nitch.

Previous ZT material has talked about how keeping weapons for the aftertime is not advised and location is far more important as a means of protecting from gangs. They also discuss and note in 'The Passage' that Service to Self gangs will not necessarily be able to see service to other, or will just walk past narrowly missing or not seeing people. I still intend to be as 'weaponed up' as possible to protect my family and loved ones. Surely this common sense and there is no disadvantage in this? What about all the people that are undecided in orientation, but headed in the Service to Other direction, will we be spared by the Service to Self gangs not seeing us also? How can we be sure? Plus weapons are useful for killing animals.

The statistics on guns kept in the home are such that you are more likely to be killed by a gun in the home than by a stranger. If 43% of the survivors will be somewhat insane, if only temporarily, after the pole shift, then this applies to the head of household who holds the gun as well! Protection by angels, who cloak a survival community, cannot simply be calculated. Those who are highly Service-to-Other of course are more likely to get this assistance than others, as the Earth is intended to be their home in the Aftertime. Communities that are predominantly Service-to-Other or led by Service-to-Other individuals likewise will likely be assisted. We have stated that communities should do self-help and keep a low profile, be out of the heavy traffic lane, as to do otherwise is not Service-to-Other but expecting the angels to do all the work, like a parent tending a spoiled child. Service-to-Other.
