PHOBOS (greek) means 'enemy' or 'hostile' in contrast to PHILOS *PIC*

So why was this strange object called PHOBOS and not PHILOS or maybe POTATOE or Yum-Root?

Enemy of what or whom? Maybe an intruder or destroyer?

Makes me wonder.
